I would love to see us get under center a little more than a handful of plays a game. Handing the ball off from under center lets a running back get up to speed to hit the hole a lot harder. Plus, it makes it a tad harder for the LB to read.
I have to believe we don't do so because our Oline is just not up to par yet.

I don't really mind the pistol look. I think Brewer is probably a lot more comfortable reading defenses and throwing passes from a shotgun type set, considering his background at Texas Tech. If Brewer can't pass as well from under center, and we run a lot from under center, it really gives the defense an advantage to know what play is coming depending on his alignment. We ran for 300+ from mostly a shotgun/pistol look, so I really can't complain too much about it. But, that being said, the I-form on the goal line where we ran power for Shai's TD was awesome.
Everything the Hokies do on offense is done because the offensive line is not up to par.
Period.
I feel like half the time we run out of the I that we've managed some success. I bet we see more of that for the rest of the season and it wouldn't surprise me if that was part of the game plan all along. We're laying a foundation right now and some young guys are getting some damn good experience. If we can be multiple out of the gun and have a bruising ground game, which we've got half of right now, this will be one tough group to plan for and stop.
I agree with post would love to see more power I formations w/ Rogers leading the backs into the hole. Believe it will open up the passing game for our tightends and wide receivers with play action. This also would fit our running back options now w/ Shai going on IR. 2nd half vs western michigan illustrated we play better when we run more than pass. Let's Go Hokies....beat UNC
