Despite trusting in his ability to start for a football team in the NFL, Michael Vick continues to support embattled QB Geno Smith. Any football pundit can see that Vick is the better option. The JETS fans are beginning to feel the same way. JETS coach Ryan seems like a puppet who is supporting Geno simply because team management is forcing him to do so. Vick could have made the situation worse. Yet he is sitting on the bench like a quiet warrior waiting for his turn to prove his skills have not diminished despite being over 30. He understands that one man cannot make the Jets or any team better.

It do.
Do it feel good?
Anyone else think of The League when someone says a player is a class act?
I think of this:
GIFSoup
And then I think of House Party...

I agree, after all Vick has been thru to see him battle back and do things the right way is impressive and a testament to his character. I'm proud to be from the same school as Vick.
Mike, not Marcus
waiting for 50 post thread sabotage/trolling from hokieknight.... waiting... waiting...
turkey leg for you Joe
Knight's on a vacation; you haven't noticed.
But i'll try, something, something, won games, something, Marcus is the best.
Leg for the signature (the comment was good too). The signature is well thought out yet stated short, sweet, and to the point.
Question: can you even call yourself a Hokie if your signature has never contained any quotes from the infamous Cowherd rant? I see you and I are on the same page
Short answer: No
Long answer: Hell no!
I don't believe so

Love me some Mickey Vick, but any reasonable Jets fan should not be yelling for the backup 34-year old QB who has maybe 2 more years left. Geno is the Jets' guy and benching him now shows you really don't trust him at all. The situation with EJ Manuel is very ugly, and I completely understand why Rex Ryan won't play our guy. Again, I'm as big of a Mike Vick fan as there gets, and I think he is handling this situation perfectly. Not to mention, it would only be a matter of time before the fans would be forced to see Geno again with Vick's history of taking big hits. I would love nothing more than to see Mike get one last go-round with a team and light it up, but Rex Ryan's New York Jets are not the team that's going to give him that opportunity. Mike Vick is a class act despite what anyone says, so I'm sure he supports the Jets' decision
Jets fan probably were screaming to bench Broadway Joe. When are Jets fans not clamoring for the backup. This is a fanbase that will go to the draft just to boo their own teams picks.
No doubt
Having been around to see Namath, Jets fans were usually clamoring for him to go in the game after 1970. Namath was often nursing bad knees, and playing time went down significantly as his career went on. 1969 was indeed a magical year, though.
Their WRs are suspect. It would have to be the MV7 experience all over again when MV gets in.
The mere fact that he's still in contention for a starting spot in the league after all that's happened is astonishing to me. God bless MV7. You can't crush a Hokie!

Vick is a multiple times PRO-Bowler. Of course he is better than Geno Smith but who is the QB gonna throw the ball to? Instead of criticizing the QB and putting Vick is difficult situation, the GM should start spending the $20 millions on some WR, DB, and RB.
Don't forget TE.
How could you forget TE?
Because the Jets have a TE.... Jace Amaro is 6'8 or something
Why are you injecting real life into my jokes?
Stop that. Stop it right now.
If Chip Kelly was his NFL coach back in 2001, MV7 would have been in the perfect offense to succeed big time. Still, at least we got to watch Ky Fuller pick off Geno, instead.
Vick is starting to become wise in his old age. While I would love to see Vick show what ever he has left in his tank, I believe his role now as a mentor is vastly more important to a QB that may have the potential, in the right situation, to succeed down the road. Yes, Geno hasn't been very good but at the same time he hasn't been terrible either. The problem is Geno needs the guidance of Vick right now more than most any other rookie due to the environment he is in 24/7. I truly can't put all the blame on this kid for all of the struggles; he has shown, at times, a strong arm, ability to take hits and get back up, and at times shows he can make great throws and good decisions. Also the biggest thing is that he acknowledges his faults, mistakes and seems to have some drive to do what it takes to be a better QB in the NFL.
First off, the Jets organization is a dumpster fire of tires. The GM has shown lack of ability to bring talent in to help Geno in the off season and having $20M in cap room with nothing to show for it offensively (Chris Johnson? Really). The Coaching staff is poorly lead and dysfunctional. (IE: Greenbay game: Geno had that game won, coaches screwed it up) Two different OC in his first two years in the league definitely don't help in his growth. No WR's that can get separation at all meaning tight windows and no consistent running game to help with keep defenses honest. Defense has a lot more issues than just weak at DB.
Second, lets look at Vick's Stats over the last two season's as starter and see if he would really make the Jets that much better. In Vick's last 16 games as a starter he was 5-11 with 12TD's, 13 INT's, 33 sacks, 15 fumbles with the Eagles. And another point is Chip Kelly chose to cut Vick for a better decision maker with less talent. Yes, the OLine was terrible, but he still had some of the same talent the Eagles have now. I love Vick as a player and now enjoying his temperament as he gets older as a mentor (thanks Dungy) but would Vick really make this Jets team with no real offensive options any better than with Geno Smith as QB.
GO HOKIES and GO COLTS

You are confusing Geno Smith with Michael Brewer.
Loved that Geno actually apologized without being told to. His remarks to an ignorant fan were out of place, but everyone wants to point the finger at the QB. Look at the Redskins, Bills, Browns...heck even the Hokies. The Jets are just an overall bad situation for any QB, or any offensive weapon for that matter. I found it hilarious that Rex Ryan admitted to being on the defensive headset when Geno threw that TD pass that got called back against Green Bay. It all starts with coaching and if Geno had a coach that gave a flip about offense, he might actually be a decent threat
A columnist stirring up a QB controversy...that's a new one.
I wish the Bills had Mike Vick
Is that you Sammy Watkins?
