The ACC's media released its 2014 All-ACC team this afternoon. The following is a release from the Virginia Tech athletic department.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Led by first-team selection Kendall Fuller, several members Virginia Tech football squad have been rewarded on the individual level as eight Hokies were named All-ACC Monday in balloting conducted by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA). Dadi Nicolas was a second-team selection while three made the third team and three others were named honorable mention.
Fuller was named to the first team as a cornerback, earning the most points among those at his position. He followed up a strong freshman year with 50 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and two sacks, with 14 pass break ups and an interception which he returned for a touchdown at North Carolina. It's the second all-league honor for the sophomore from Baltimore as he made the second team last season.
Nicolas had a break-out year in his first season as a starter, tallying 63 tackles, including 17.5 for loss and 9.0 sacks, to go along with 34 quarterback hurries, a pass break up, two blocked kicks and a fumble recovery. It's the first all-conference honor for the junior from Delray Beach, Florida.
Earning spots on the third team were sophomore defensive end Ken Ekanem, freshman tight end Bucky Hodges and junior defensive tackle Corey Marshall. Ekanem, from Centreville, Virginia, started all 12 games and has 46 tackles, 13.5 of which are for loss along with 8.5 sacks. Hodges, from Virginia Beach, Virginia, has had one of the best seasons for a Tech tight end in program history, catching 42 passes for 517 yards and seven touchdowns and also scored on a blocked punt recovery. Marshall, from North Dinwiddie, Virginia, has 39 tackles, including 9.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks, to go along with one interception and 23 quarterback hurries.
Three Hokies: wide receiver Isaiah Ford, defensive tackle Luther Maddy and defensive tackle Nigel Williams were named to the honorable mention squad.

Comments
AND HE'S ONLY LIKE 12 YEARS OLD!
Ya Think?
Dadi not being first team is criminal. If Mario Edwards wasn't so highly regarded preseason and played on FSU he wouldn't be on first team. I think Ken had a better season than him as well.
FSU also had all 5 OL get all ACC and I watched Jameis get hammered all season.
Funny you should bring that up...

pass break ups are such an underrated stat when evaluating defensive ends.
It's hard for Dadi and Ken to get PBUs when the QB still has the ball in his hands as they hit/tackle him! Edwards has the luxury of still being behind the offensive line when the pass is thrown!
hahaha
That's just comical
Facts are stubborn things
With you all the way on that one. Like, really... I demand to see some sportswriters cuffed, and perp walked down to the station.
They'll have James Gayle after them.
Big Lu is also convinced of the insanity that will be D-line 2015:
Damn straight he's the best Corner in the ACC; probably in all of college football by the time he's done!

Bucky should at least be 2nd-Team
Also, I'm pretty frigging excited about who's returning on our team for next year! With some consistency on offense, there's real reason for optimism.
Luther and Nigel both getting honorable mentions makes me think some writers don't pay any attention whatsoever
They can't even spell Nigel's last name correctly under honorable mentions. It's Williams, not "William!"
DT is a tough position to assess since those guys don't rack up stats to the same extent as some other positions. I am honestly glad to see Maddy get honorable mention even though he missed over half of the season. Still, if he was around all season I have no doubt he would be a 1st teamer.
Am I the only one who thinks we may have one of our best d-lines ever next year? Assuming Maddy comes back 100%, we will be giving quarterbacks nightmares all year.
Two words: Josh Sweat
Yep, also having Edwards over Ekanem and Dadi is pretty ridiculous given both Dadi and Ekanem had better stats by a wide margin.
Looks like Bucky is top 7 in the country according to the ESPN ACC blog.
By the numbers: Week 14 (top tight ends)
I'd take Bucky any day of the week over that slow TE from FSU. Not trying to sound like a jerk to Brewer after his tough performance last week, but if Bucky had Jameis throwing to him it wouldn't even be a conversation.
FTFY
Every day I'm Fullering!
I'm glad they were able to Focus and put Ford as an honorable mention.
Don't start this pun Fiesta again
um...F150...yeah
Took me a second. Had to Probe deeper.
Yep - hard to Escape that one...
I think Bucky deserves to be second team and Isaiah Ford deserves to be third team. I also think Mario Edwards had no business beating out Dadi (or Ekanem for that matter)
Who is Mario Edwards???
Anyhow, I agree.
Was sad Kyshoen didn't even get honorable mention. But on the bright side, it must say something about how highly voters respect Big Lu for him to get honorable mention while only playing what, 4 games? He's a baaaaaad man
Also Walford should be the first team TE with Bucky being second team IMO.
I'd daddy Maddy gets a waiver, we'll have a like that can dominate the ACC. If he doesn't I'm still excited.
Foster has a slew of LB's to pick from, and a stable of secondary players. Holland Fisher must be ready to burst.
Trey will hopefully be healthy, another year with Searels, another year with Moorehead polishing Ford and Cam.
Fully dipped?
Yes. Yes indeed. Funny I could understand what he said.
Fully dipped.
First, why no Freshman All-ACC team?
Second, where are Jarrett and Bonner? All they did was play Safety, CB and LB all season. I guess the voters only watched the games where Moto took the wrong gap and made them look bad.
Third, Mario Edwards? LOL! Dude is too slow to play DT for VT.
Well obviously, because, Fuller.
On a side note it is purely criminole that Dadi did not get the nod over Edwards for 1st Team
What also surprises me is no Kysheon. What gives? He should've been 3rd or 2nd team easy.
There are a lot of comments in here about Mario Edwards.
I love our defensive line. Love them. But Mario Edwards is pretty sick at what he does. I don't see anything wrong with him being up top of the choices.
