Facyson Breaks Leg In Practice

Virginia Tech has just released that Brandon Facyson broke his Tibia and Fibula on the same leg he previously injured and had surgery on Sunday

Facyson will miss the spring season and is expected to return for the summer.

Facyson hasn't played since the ECU game on September 13th. The staff still plans to apply for a medical hardship waiver for him.

Something just isn't right. This is way to many injuries, and a lot of them are of the serious variety. It doesn't make sense.

Wow that is terrible news! Hope his recovery is quick.

I don't recall any team being this snake bitten at so many positions!

Especially being snake bitten at the positions that we actually had depth/athleticism at before the season began: Running Backs and DB's

Sorry to hear this happened, get well soon, Brandon

Was he expected to play in the bowl game I assume?

Silver lining here is that he may get a medical hardship waiver.

He most likely wasn't going to play in the bowl game unless some dire circumstance where injuries required it, but he was eligible for the hardship waiver before this injury. This just sets him back and makes him unable to participate in Spring practice.

Ah.

Well hopefully his recovery is quicker than expected.

This sucks. Kid is so good and he's just been decimated with injuries this year. I've been a Hokie fan since birth and I can not remember a year with as many injuries as we've had this year. Name the position, we've got a serious injury there to a key player. Get well soon Brandon, we all miss watching #DBU at its finest.

holy crap.... that's terrible terrible luck, hope he is able to get to summer practice it sounds like a bad injury

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

I don't know... Something has got to be up with injuries this year. There's bad luck, and then there's this. Season long this is one of the worst rashes of injuries I've ever seen any team at any level experience. Either we just have some of the worst luck manageable, or there is something systematically wrong within the program that is causing these issues.

I want to hope its only bad luck, but during the offseason, it really would benefit the coaching staff to do an internal review to make sure we are doing everything we can to keep these kids in good health over the course of the season.

What did we do wrong to cause a broken leg? Is this my mom's milk argument again?

Is there a way to strengthen bones through training? Strains and tears I can see being traced back to the training staff, but I feel like broken bones usually fall under the "terrible luck" category. I guess unsafe practices could lead to injuries, but I don't know if that's the case

Football is dangerous. Kids get contact and non-contact injuries all the time. It is not always an indictment of the strength and conditioning program. Plenty of programs deal with it, but we follow the Hokies' and notice VT's more.

OhSU is on their third QB. Florida State's D Line is on second and third stringers. It happens. Jus' Sayin.

That being said, here's to hoping Brandon comes back better than ever. God knows he has got lots of others to rehab with.
