Senior member of Virginia Tech's #DBU, Kam Chancellor balled out in the Seattle Seahawks 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers. Not only did Chancellor lead his team in solo tackles (9) and tie for tops in total tackles (11), but he scored on a pick-six and demonstrated some serious ups.
Neither of these counted, but they are still very fun to watch.

Yes Kendall, yes we do.
Lol we need to do that w/ Dadi next year

However, Kam made a house call and it stuck for six.
Kam extended his post-season pick streak to three games.
Bruce Taylor knows that's up.
KAMMMMMM!!!!!!

Internet third baseman Chipper Jones has thoughts on Kam.
I repeat, Kam Chancellor is fricken freak! I pick him first on my kickball team!

And Richard Sherman gets right to the point.
Richard Sherman on Kam Chancellor: "He's a freakin' monster. He damages people's souls." #Seahawks

This leads me to story time, which I may or may not have told here before. I bumped into Kam at Big Al's (Poor Billy's) the night before the 2011 (pretty sure it was 2011) spring game. It was a who's who of VT greats mingling and enjoying cocktails in the downstairs bar. When I met Kam, I fought off his contagious smile and asked him to form tackle me because I wanted to know how hard an NFL player could hit. I had a few Maker's Mark prior to this. He casually laughed me off (thank you, Kam). He was one of the most polite and engaging NFL-Hokies I have met. He spoke to everyone who wanted even a second of time.

I'm a Panthers fan but fuck it that pick six had me smiling. I cheer for the DBU
Panther fan as well, but damn if Kam didn't have himself a game. He remains one of my favorites because he doesn't have to run is mouth (a la Sherman) to make a name for himself. On-field product is more than enough. And just for fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78qF72JwJwA
Same here. He very well may be the best player on that team.
Saw this last night and loved it.
I love kam chancellor and he makes me eat my words constantly.... I didn't think he'd be succesful but I'm more than happy to watch him rock the NFL.
I like Kim, but the fact he plays for Seattle kind of ruins it for me. Those fans have become insufferable over the last few years.
like who?
he said KIM
You can say that again. I just moved Seattle for work and I want to puke almost everyday because of them.
If they really plan on making Wilson the highest paid QB in the NFL, he probably won't be there much longer. They already paid Sherman the big bucks and there is no way they can pay all of Wagner, Thomas, Kam and more the big bucks as well.
kam got a big deal a few years ago so they'll have him for a few more years, I can't see them letting him go, he's one of their captains and a huge game changer
Smart move by them. I would argue that he is the most important player on their defense.
I never root against Kam!
Well. I hope they make those Bam Bam Kam turkey legs a permanent menu item.
Loud stadium? Check.
Known for defense? Check.
Runs the ball? Check.
Rains a lot? Check.
Great at beating teams from Carolina? Check.
All they're missing is turkey legs
They got those, too
Just so everybody can get a good look at them:
The newly debuted Bam Bam Kam turkey legs
Check!
Question: Does Kam's performance last night help VT's perception among recruits, or is it like several other conversations that have been had where it doesn't really translate?
I think the DBU brand is really starting to help recruiting, for DBs anyway.
It certainly can't hurt!!
Well, VT-football tweeted out about Kam being a HS QB turned safety and Durkin's Dad responded that he was not aware of that.
So, yes, I think there is a demonstrated impact, though Durkin is here already, if one dad whose son is interested in VT football follows, then others do.
Edited to correct autocorrect.
What I don't understand is that if you see what DB's and DE's have accomplished at Tech and in the pros, if you're a recruit and you get an offer from Bud Foster, how do you not commit to VT immediately? I understand having to fight to guys at every other position but DBU has produced at both college/NFL and undersized DE's have been some of the best in the country. Imagine what some of the most talented players could accomplish in Blacksburg and beyond.
The answer: who knows, but it certainly can't hurt!
I keep watching it trying to see what it is that is giving him the timing of the snap. Amazing game for Kam. I was watching with a group of predominantly USCw alumni and everyone of them was well aware that Kam is from DBU, Blacksburg, VA. Seems the reputation is getting stronger and this can only help.
Trevor Matich said on twitter
"Chancellor is able to time FG snap b/c sees holder give ready signal to snapper -- opens his hand. Holder needs to change it up."
...he has all off season to work on it.
The Panthers have quite possibly the worst special teams coach in the NFL. You know he's bad when fans are more focused on dealing with him before anyone else this offseason.
I'm not trying to say anything, I'm just saying. . . Kam looks good in that uniform.
As Joe and several others pointed out on Twitter last night Kam was a 2 star QB out of high school who had no other P5 offers. I think that is a selling point for Tech.
The announcers were drooling over Kam last night too. He was making play after play out there. I don't know how he didn't block those FGs
Receivers look under their beds for Kam before they go to sleep
My youngest son and I met Kam during the player autograph signing right after the 2009 Spring Game.
Joe, I can definitely attest to the Kam's engaging demeanor. Kam talked to my son longer than any of the other players, and as we moved down the line, you could see it being held up by Kam, because he tried to have a conversation with everyone that passed by him. Just a cool dude.
I love to hear stuff like this. Thanks for sharing!
From dawn to dusk, that was an amazing game for Kam.
Here's a fun read about Kam's performance from SI:
http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/01/10/kam-chancellor-seattle-seahawks-carolin...
He's such a badass
Off-topic:
Painful hyphenation, IMO.
Huh?
He may be the Dark Knight on game day. But I suspect for a lot of broken players the next several sleepless nights he's the Sandman.
I liked this quote from the article re: his pick six....
"All I saw was green, and green means go."
Great.

Makes me think of this, sorry if I didn't embed this correctly I'm on my phone
Hilarious.
That freak athlete out there, yeah, he's also a great guy. Couldn't be happier for Kam.
KAM is THE REAL and TRUE KAM while Newton is just a pretender. Did you see him all curled up and crying at the end of the recap? That, my friends, is a destroyed soul.
K > C
Make it KFC and you got yourself a hell of a day

This says it all. Good read if you want to laugh.
They just took the Sam Rogers story and changed the name.
Shame on them.
Understandable. They were both genetically engineered in the same government lab.
My favorite part of that article:
"One of these days he's going to become a measuring unit for how much pain is inflicted on something. A semi truck totals a Smart car at 80 mph and science teachers are going to ask how many Kam Chancellors of impact it delivered. The answer is two. A semi truck smashing a Smart car is only two Kam Chancellors."
Which brings up an interesting point of Physics:
The International System of Units (SI) calls their unit of force a 'Newton.'
Clearly:

So I would propose a new unit to define a violent force: the 'KC.'
Where 1KC=31xN
(It's the best I could find.)
I still can't believe that he lasted till the third round.
*Fifth round. Even more unbelievable.
The whole Fox NFL crew was chatting with Russell Wilson just now about Kam and how the Commonwealth has produced so many impact players lately.
Kam posted this to Instagram today (the IG embed didn't work):
Gotta love getting that VT brand out there. He easily has the biggest nfl hokie presence right now.
Easily. Great exposure for dbU!
Is everyone forgetting how well he played in superwowl? He was a legitimate MVP candidate.
Only reason he did not win is becaus his INT wasn't returned for TD (unlike last night). I'd argue that he was MVP because his INT was more important than Smith's based on game at that point and that a couple of his hits were absolutely cringe worthy.
He was overshadowed by Earl Thomas (who had a great season) and Richard Sherman who was two weeks removed from stirring up his pot of sh*t.
Should have changed out of my Sunday VT warmup pants before watching this. fiance is going to be checking my tablet for adult sites.
One of my favorite Kam moments simply because it's not versus the usual WR, RB but an OL.
Kam's House of Pancakes!
Hokies beating up on Hurricanes!! Gotta LOVE it!
Every time something is posted about Kam, I hopefully wait for this play to show up. Thank you.
It is, without a doubt, one of the awesomest, most ridiculous displays of athleticism and strength that you will see on a football field. Imagine what went through Winston's head when that happened. Imagine what the RB thought as that unfolded in front of him. Hits like that aren't just effective, they are down right demoralizing.
I'm somewhat ashamed to say that I hadn't seen this one before...
In other news, I just wasted the last half hour watching random Kam videos on youtube.
WASTED? I think not ....
From Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Kam took an elective In sports seismology while in Blakcksburg.
Mike & Mike are showing the Bam Bam Kam live this morning.
Gollic had the best line "when Kam hits you, you're done moving....you stop".
Kam = Beast that is all.
Kam is a scary dude.
I'd love to see a gif of him blowing up Mike Tolbert, too. He simply plays like a man possessed... its a whole lot of fun to watch.
Even Lynch got ....uh... excited for Kam's pick six

Marshawn Lynch kills me..I get the sense that he's probably a lot smarter than a lot of people give him credit for and I bet he's got a great sense of humor...though I'm sure it's a bit quirky
can we bring back those unis? There was a certain something those defenses had that has been missing for a while.
I think when they showed the replay of this the announcers were saying something about how this is a penalty (which I guess the zebras missed) because he came down on top of other players. It doesn't matter if those players are your teammates or not, it's a penalty because it's a safety hazard. That adds to how awesome Kam is because he managed to make the move legally knowing there was a risk of drawing a flag
It's a penalty because he used his lineman as a stepping stool. It is a rather blatant missed call and one they usually make. It also highlights the athleticism required for Kam's plays.
I live in Seattle nowadays and while I'm not totally on the Seahawks bandwagon yet, I do rep my Kam jersey every chance I get!
I hope your talking a VT Kam jersey....
That's the S**t!
Dammmmmmmn! That's all I can say..........Damn!
There are so many Hokies in the NFL that quietly get lots of playing time (Josh Morgan, Eddie Royal, Wil Montgomery) without much fanfare due to the stars around them. Kam Chancellor from the safety position is able to make a play on every down and create his own fanfare.
Someone turned Kam into Pac-man.
My only complaint is that he's more suited to be all four ghosts at once.
On Seahawks-Packers post game interviewing Kam & Russel Wilson, Howie mentions that all great football players come from Virginia, and Kam flashed the VT hand signal.
How can anyone not love the sport, after that game?
Any screen-caps?
This should be sent to all high-school prospects.
I happened to be watching highlights of the 2009 ECU game when I saw Kam make one of his trademark plays...
Jayron Hosley was taking a punt return down the left sideline and Kam just completely de-cleated some lineman, taking out another defender in the process and earning himself a double pancake.
