Mens Basketball: Virginia Tech (9-11, 1-6) at Wake Forest (9-12, 1-7) 2pm ESPN3

Sorry for another game time post. Cellar dweller versus cellar dweller today. The bad news is that Wake Forest has size for days. The good news is that the size isn't that talented. Tech needs to focus on the outside shooters in this game and try to run Wake out of the gym. Game may be on a RSN in some locations so check the net first and then your tv. Tech shoumd be able to win this game by 10 or so but its on the road, will likely have a light crowd and could be a mental trap game coming off the win.

Mr. Bibbs still out?

*nvm, he just came in.

stick it in, stick it in, stick it in!

VT is forcing WF into taking some terrible shots. I can dig it. My only concern is we're not actually capitalizing on those 50/50 and hustle plays.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Welcome back, Bibbs.

Didn't realize we were on and caught the end of the NCSU vs GT affair. Nice buzzer beating finish for the Pack after GT misses 2FTs to ice the game.

Really sloppy play from Tech so far. Whistles definitely going against Tech for some really weak fouls. Tech should be winning by 8 right now.

We really need some guys who can alter shots inside. We allow way to many easy shots inside. It's layup after layup today and is not like Wake is doing anything easy.

That's probably going to be the one thing that might hold us back in the future until we can bring in some more big men.

The size difference is striking.

Wake has two seven footers another two six eleven and two six ten. Most of them dont play much though. Devin Thomas though is just a man. Averages a double double down low.

I was gonna say, WF has to be one of the biggest teams in the conference. I didn't notice this kind of juxtaposition against ND, UVA or Pitt. It's like David and Goliath out there.

We are getting abused in the paint. Period. That said, our outside shooting is keeping us in this thing, so even with the struggles inside, we have a chance.

This also makes 3 quarters (ot included) in a row we have swished a last second shot from the center court logo.

That 3 was clutch. Kept us in this one. We've got some ice water in our veins from the top of the key.

EDIT: frickin autocorrects

Pitt beat #8 Note Dame this afternoon

Everytime. Every damn time we cut the lead we give up easy baskets or turn the ball over to allow them to pull away again.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

We've gone from down ten to down one. We're doing something right.

Its absurd how we keep screwing up when we have a chance to really change the game in our favor.

Frustrating

Still really sloppy basketball. Too many turnovers.

Not a good game today. Yeah they're hitting shots but the numerous mental errors have really hurt us today. They don't deserve to win this game.

Well we pissed that one away

Still though, the BIG positive to take away from every game that I have watched this year is Buzz Williams. As far as drawing up a play, in game strategy, Coach Buzz is running circles around his competition.

Leonard. Duh.

I wonder why Smith didn't get the last shot.... He needed it, the way he's been in clutch time

I thought the play they called was smart. Draw the defenders to Smith and get it to Hill? in the corner. He got a great look... ball just didn't go in the basket.

ACC is going to be in trouble next year when that shot starts dropping.

Leonard. Duh.

Saw something new today, free throw shooting kept them in the game. If they can get all the aspects of the game going in the same game, we should have plenty of good ones to watch this year.

Ugly basketball loss against a team that can't buy a win this year.

Pitt was a step forward, this was a step back. At this point in the year, it is very concerning to see the mental errors and lapses in fundamentals we are still seeing.

I see a team that is very short in rebounders, we have some very good players and a heck of a coach. Great things will happen over the next few years. I do believe Shane Henry was a mistake, may not be here next year.

We were only out rebounded by like 6 today though, which I can live with haha

True, but probably the difference in this game and a few others.

Six is also our average this season. Shouldn't have happened today. Guys were sleepwalking out there. Bad turnovers mental lapses especially in the lane defensively. Foul trouble for like half the team. Just a litany of errors.

I guess I didn't see the same game you did. All I saw was a bunch of guys hustling and a bunch of ticky tacky fouls being called. Our shooting was off standard but not by lack of effort, a few mental lapses but this is a very young team playing their hearts out.

I think I'm in your corner. I saw a lack of height way more than a lack of fundamentals. Yeah there were some boneheaded turnovers, but I also think there were a LOT of no calls by the refs.

The were a lot of touch fouls called, which had me worried the game would turn into a free throw shooting contest and we would get rolled. The team was good at the stripe today, but there were a lot of mental lapses on defense that led to many easy shots for Wake. I am not sure if Buzz was working on something different in practice this week or maybe spent too much practice time on free throws, but the defense was not as sharp today. Maybe the minutes are starting to add up.
