I told them, listen, I know you need to do what's best, and I realize that might not be keeping my scholarship.'
The school's response blew him away.
They said you've been with us this whole time,' Malek explained. Idaho is not leaving your side.
The thing that makes this interesting is that the Idaho coach is Paul Petrino....Bobby's brother.
Bobby Petrino just recently pulled a scholarship offer at the last minute and Louisville is now banned from the high school.

This is a great story. I always see Idaho finish in the basement of their conference, but stories like this remind you that there are things in life far more important than football wins and losses.
Also, there are very few constants in life, but one of them is Bobby Petrino being a genuinely terrible person.
Kudos to Idaho for honoring his scholarship. Very classy move. Best wishes to Jace; not an easy fight, but one I'm sure he'll win.
The right thing to do, but also a very easy thing to do. Win-win for everyone involved and it doesn't make Paul Petrino a saint. There is very little downside for him, except maybe being down a scholarship for one season.
If this kid's career does end up being over, he'll wind up with a medical hardship waiver that allows him to keep his scholarship even though he won't be participating in football. Meanwhile because of his medical status, his scholarship won't count against the normal team limit.
What a great story. Could be the universe decided Paul was necessary to balance out the absolute piece of shit it made with Bobby.
Maybe they're...

What Idaho is doing is fantastic. Hats off to them.
As for what Bobby did to Colburn, I think the NCAA should address that. I think there should be a deadline after which committable offers cannot be rescinded except for cases of legal issues or health issues that would prevent a recruit from being able to play. Eleventh hour changes shouldn't be allowed.
so, an early signing period?
No, just a deadline after which a program is not allowed to rescind an committable offer. The recruit isn't required to do anything. The onus is entirely on the program.
Good for them, should be this way every time.
You Stay Classy Idaho!
Great move!
I love seeing stories like this. The cancer battle is one that people think they have a solid view of but most honestly have no clue what it is really like. Receiving emotional support as peace of mind in the form of that scholarship can do more for that kid and family than a lot of people will realize. Peace of mind is hard to find when dealing with cancer so any little bit is a huge weight off your shoulders and a promised chance at a successful future waiting for you is a pretty big relief when what seems like so much has been taken away.
I wish him the best and can't wait to hear about his success story.
how many siblings does Bobby have? is it just Paul or are there others? Also, where does Bobby land in the sibling line-up I wonder?
ESPN is now reporting that Matt Colburn has signed with Wake Forest. I guess he'll get a few chances to burn Louisville.
