anOSUvsVT #7 in Opening Weekend Top 10 Games to Watch

Ohio State opens its season with a shot at avenging its only loss of the 2014 season in a prime-time, exclusive Labor Day broadcast. Over/under number of Buckeyes throwing a touchdown pass is set at 2.5.

Ran across this article and thought you guys would enjoy it. What are your thoughts? Should we be ranked higher or lower? Personally, I feel like it's an honest ranking. Considering the games that were ranked ahead of us. An argument could be made for us to be the #6 game (considering Texas' recent history), but the writer makes a valid point for the ranking.

Not sure how Arizona St - TAMU ranks #1. TAMU has struggled without Jonny Rehab and I think Alabama v. Wisci should get the nod at #1.

And how could you not like the hilarity of Petrino coaching L-ville IN ATLANTA. It's like the football equivolent of being invited to your ex-wife's wedding.

Texas-Notre Dame: Anybody feeling nostalgic for by-gone eras?

I feel VT has a legitimate shot at the top #5 spot on this list. Playing the #1 team, the only regular season loss for Meyer the last 3 years. Night game at Lane stadium? More intriguing than Michigan for sure. (Danny Coale caught that ball).

Both ASU and A&M may very well be (over)ranked for that game.

You could spend plenty of time arguing over which game has more potential, but I just see this and am excited that we play on Monday and I can watch everything on Saturday. A whole bunch of good looking matchups that weekend.

Over/under number of Buckeyes throwing a touchdown pass is set at 2.5.

I'm confused is the 2.5 the number of OSU players throwing touchdown passes or number of team TD passes expected? If it is the number of players throwing a TD pass, here are my ideas for the possible reasoning that someone might have for thinking that many players from anOSU will throw TD's from most to least likely:

1. Bud's D is expected to knock one or more QBs out of the game early a la the Military Bowl.
2. Meyer has to resort to trick plays in order to move the ball through the air, with TD passes coming from Halfbacks and/or Wide Receivers
3. Meyer plans on playing multiple qbs because he isn't sure which of his 3 qbs should be the starter. (Would be much more likely if we were talking about Time Cop)

[Edit: Infinity symbol apparently not a supported character].anOSU is up by a large enough margin to play 1 or more backups in garbage time.

I'm also assuming that they are considering pick 6's thrown by anOSU qbs to be TD's thrown by them.

I like your analysis, but I think this was just a cheap zing by the author because anOSU has 3 starting Qbs

I think our game is easily top 5.

Michigan at Utah is purely based on the Harbaugh story. I'd be surprised if anyone in America outside of those fan bases can tell you the score from their game last year.

I don't see Arizona St v Texas A&M as anything special considering neither program has even managed a conference championship recently.

Does the average fan care at all about Washington @ Boise? I'd say no.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

There really isn't a game on this list that I would be overly excited about. What a shitty opening weeked for college football.

Not the greatest but, for me, there are no shitty college football weekends. 2016's opening weekend should be more to your liking.

Yeah, that's like saying your weekend sucks because you only get your second-favorite type of pie.

Disagree. While there isn't any "must-watch" game, there's certainly some great games with some intrigue. Wisconsin vs Alabama will be a good one, as will Louisville vs Auburn. The game I'm probably most interested in is the UNC vs USCe game to see which team is more overrated at the beginning of the season. It seems each year Fedora is about to "turn the corner" and after last year with USCe's early collapse to aTm, they went back to just middle of the pack. So while the big picture of where those teams will end up won't be solved, it will be an interesting match.

You mean Louisville vs Auburn?

Good catch. Fixed it now.

Something to keep in mind is that Footballscoop.com is mainly a coaching-search website. So if you read through their rankings, almost all of them have to do with the intrigue of either a coaching change or coaches/programs with some familiarity, not necessarily the games being the most exciting to watch.

Is there some intrigue about the Washington/Boise St match-up that I'm missing here?

Chris Petersen used to coach Boise.

"Exit light..."

That'd probably be the big one, yeah.

Yeah, him returning to Boise will be a huge storyline for Week 1.

huge for all 500 boise state fans tuning in...

Well, they just won the Fiesta Bowl so I would assume that the bandwagons are back.

In Sam Rogers we trust.
