Gibson, Jarrett and Bonner appear to be the leading candidates to be drafted. Gibson had a stellar combine. VT has a 2 decade streak of having someone drafted in the 7 round draft. Who will go, when? To what team? Will all 3 go, or how many? Really rooting for all 3 to get drafted somewhere although being a free agent can be as beneficial sometimes as going in 6th or 7th round.

I am guessing that Gibson has a good shot at going to a zone blocking team that needs a swing tackle.
I'm betting Gibson and Jarrett both get drafted in 5 to 7. Bonner picked up on Free Agency.
I see Gibson going around Round 5 than Jarrett possibly going late.
I have seen Gibson as high as 4th round in some mocks and as low as priority UFA, and I have not seen Jarrett or Bonner higher than 7th round (most have them as priority UFA). Hopefully at least one is on someones boards so we keep the streak alive, good luck boys!
Streak is important, but what about next year? We currently have no seniors in the secondary which means Fuller, Facyson, or Clark would have to leave early to keep the streak alive. I think Clark would be most likely to stay unless he has a phenomenal year and gets a lot of playing time (could easily happen). Facyson should probably stay since I believe he is all about academics and graduating, plus who knows with that injury. That leaves Fuller which I just can't imagine him leaving because he would have to drag me holding onto his ankles kicking and screaming.
The 2 decade streak of having a player drafted includes all positions, not just DBs. Our streak of having DBs drafted ended in 2013.
Maybe you should shut up instead of being right! I am sad now.
The streak didn't end, it paused as no one graduated or left early from the DB's. If nobody was eligible that can't end the streak.
I knew he didn't read the fine print. You have to look for those asteriks at the end. "VT streak of having a DB drafted ends in 2013*"....fine print.....your comment above. Good catch.

Donovan Riley is a senior, though I don't know that I'd expect him to be drafted unless he has a stellar year.
It's up to Riley to get the DBU streak rolling again.
What about Coleman, or Malek?
Coleman probably not. But Malek has the size to be attractive at TE, especially if he blocks well this year. Will be interesting to see how he grades out
Of all our seniors, Dadi, Malleck, Maddy, and maybe Marshall have the best chance. I'm on the fence with Hughes because so few punters are drafted, so we'll see.
uninjured Maddy and Marshall absolutely get picked up next year.
is Marshall big enough to be a DE in a 3 lineman system?
That would be my worry. If he is drafted it's probably 6-7th round as a 4-3 end project, or to see if he can bulk up into the 3-4 end role. He'll need to be at least 300 for the latter, although I'd imagine he'd really excel in that kind of role.
Bucky?
Yeah, don't expect Fuller to be around more than this year.
I disagree, I think the mama and papa Fuller want their kids to have degrees.
Eh, there's always summer school or going back to finish. When the Nats drafted Storen he had it in his contract that they had to pay his tuition at Stanford for him to finish up.
Fun fact I learned on a tour of VT's athletic facilities - you have to keep in mind that these guys are in school year-round. So they do normal semesters and summer school. Most of our guys that stay for a full 4 years end up with 2 degrees. Those that are here for five (redshirt + four normal years) often get a master's. Leaving early doesn't necessarily mean he won't finish a degree. It's totally possible to do a 3-year bachelor's when you're in school year-round.
Yeah, this will be Fuller's fifth semester and two summers. If he doesn't have his degree by January, he probably doesn't have much left. I think they have to take 6 credits a summer session. If that's the case, that's 84 credits by January 2016. Is that enough to graduate?
Bachelor's Degrees are 120 credit hours.
He came out of a private school, right? Very possible he came in with some credits.
36 though? That's a ton of AP credit, even for a Fuller.
I came in with 32 *shrug* Started college as a sophomore, technically
I think I came in with 21. Would have been more, but AP Calc BC kinda hurt...
Does VT still do two summer sessions, and if so are you counting both toward your calculations?
Also, he could be taking more than 6 classes a semester, especially in the Spring.
I'm going Gibson is the first off the board. Bonner goes in the 7th and Jarrett gets a UFA deal.
Consensus among draft experts seems to be Gibson picked first in the 4-6th round range. I think Jarrett is more likely to be picked in the late rounds than Bonner but would love for both to have their names called
FWIW I was bored and created a spreadsheet in which I took a bunch of different draft "big boards" and top whatever lists and averaged them all together. It's not by any means intended to be a mock draft but more a ranking of talent as seen by some of the major websites and draft geeks. It's lacking some of the big names (McShay, et al) but I'm hopeful it'll give some indication. I'm at work and don't have access to it at the moment but I'll post more after.
So, my draft board has been decent. Some really wonky picks that my method had REALLY low but that's what I get for using some of the random sources I did.
Anyway, I have Gibson as our highest ranked prospect with an average ranking of 210.
Kyshoen is next with an average of 237.667.
Bonner comes in at 273.
Take those with a HUGE grain of salt because like I said I've had some accurate rankings but some huge wtf moments.
Care to share more about what picks were really wonky? Would enjoy seeing which picks truly came out of left field, if any.
Also, for those who don't know, there are 256 picks in the draft, meaning by this method Jarrett and Gibson would be the only ones drafted.
I was at Fork and Cork yesterday so I wasn't able to fill in where everybody actually got drafted but I'm going to work on that today and I'll put some stuff up here later.
Before I do that, I think that some of my sources were totally off their rockers. I started pulling stuff together for this over a month ago and there were some pretty drastic rises and falls during that time. For example, I had Frank Clark (DE Michigan) averaged at a 278.667 but he was drafted 63rd. I'll admit I know absolutely nothing about Frank Clark so I can't really account whether or not the numbers I used were totally off base to begin with or if he just had an exceptional combine/pro day/whatever.
Okay, thanks.
Clark going in the 2nd round was a huge surprise. He had a very good combine but was still probably a 3rd-4th rounder without the character issues (bad attitude, pled guilty to felony burglary, accused of beating his girlfriend at a hotel, kicked off the team, interviewed poorly). An incredibly risky move by the Seahawks.
My largest on both ends of the spectrum were Angelo Blackson (DT, Auburn) who I had averaged out at an incredibly low 391. He was drafted at 100. Waaaaaay over on the other side, I had Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (CB, Oregon) at 86 and he fell all the way to 241. If you're interested, I'm sure I can find a way to send you the excel file I have all of this stuff saved on.
Also, there were a whopping 41 players drafted that I didn't have on my original list. Again, that's what I get for using a pretty small group of sources. I only used free sites so I didn't have like any of the big draft gurus on there. CBS sports, DraftTek.com, and Draft Countdown's top 275 were where I got the bulk of my names. I then tried to narrow some of the higher ranked players by using several sites that only went to between 40 and 100. Needless to say the first couple rounds were pretty close and when the 4th round hit I started running into problems.
Thanks a lot.
Yeah. Ekpre-Olumu's knee apparently scared off a lot of teams. The Browns are probably gonna have to essentially redshirt him.
Wait, so you're saying the Bucs aren't taking Jarrett with the Number 1?
Gibson's measurables at the combine definitely merit a late round pick. I'm thinking late 4 or 5. He's also a tackle which is highly valued. He's definitely a sleeper. It would have been very interesting if Searels could have developed him for another year.
Gibson
Herman "Foots" Dickerson in the 7th round to the Chicago Cardinals.
Given the number of teams that need a tackle (Panthers) and haven't drafted one, I'm projecting Gibson late 4 or early 5. I expect a run on Olineman soon. V
Special teams skills will play a role when you're 5-7th rd. I think Bonner has a little more upside as an NFL position player, but Jarrett might be viewed as more versatile.
Jarrett. I'm thinking 6th round.
Jarret, 181st overall pick to the skins
