Another FSU QB, Johnson, is making headlines for the wrong reason. He is accused of punching a 21-year-old female FSU student .

It is too early to jump to conclusion, but it is a negative publicity FSU does not want after Winston's debacle.

They suspended their 3rd string QB....
It's like the NCAA ignoring the misdoings of UNC and dropping the hammer on Liberty...
Yeah, you know he's no threat to start if FSU suspends a QB. Although, it is June. Check back in August.
Well the article says he was suspended for a violation of FSU team rules so he can't have assaulted a woman.
Oh, must have worn the wrong shoes to the QB meeting.
But a wrong pair that he bought or were given to him....no a pair that were stolen....that would be completely acceptable.
So punching is worse than...get Jameis on the phone!
--Uncle Jimbo
i think by definition, now is the optimal time to jump to conclusions.
should we go ahead and bust out this bad boy, then?
He should have hit her over the head with the Heisman..... Nothing would be done about it then.
I always knew he'll be a hit at FSU.
BAZINGA!
Anyone else wondering why an 18/19 year old is in line to get drinks at a bar? A party sure but a bar?
Probably for the same reason I was in line to get drinks at a bar when I was 18/19.
Wait a minute.....
You drink alcohol!?
He went to El Rods?
I can remember the days when if you were big enough to throw your money up on the counter, you could walk out the door with a six pack of PBR. The times they have changed.
Only at FSU can a QB punch a woman in the face and the response is "at least it's better than the last guy."
Dayum.....
I'm pretty sure every FSU (and Miami, for that matter) beat writer has a template for such articles, to be used every year:
"[insert 2nd/3rd-string player] suspended for [insert crime here]"
Don't think FSU is going to be having any 'no charges filed' celebratory press conferences over this one...
Woah, is this the incident?
I don't give a shit if she hit him first...you don't put your hands on a woman!!
Disgusting
He is grabbing her (can't tell if it's her arm or shirt) and pulling her towards him before she hits him.
The creator of this gif definitely has an aim of telling only half the story and making him look like the bad guy. If you watch the video, he's holding her arm because she made a fist and threatened to punch him with that arm. Then she (according to the article at the Tallahassee Democrat) kneed him in the midsection and punched him before he hit her. I'm sorry, but woman or not, anyone who kicks a guy in the junk and punches him in the face has earned retaliation. She definitely appears to be the aggressor here and should be prosecuted at least as strongly as he is.
Um no.
I think the gif included all the critical parts. She took a swing, but he was holding her arm. Then, while still holding her arm, he knocked the piss out of her.
At a crowded bar, slugging a girl is taboo, regardless of who made initial contact. Particularly if you're the one who is trying to build a football career.
She was out of line, but he escalated.
No, the gif did not include all the critical parts. It starts with him holding her right arm, AFTER she cocks her fist to throw a punch. We are led to believe that his grabbing her arm is an act of aggression on his part when it's actually a case of him defending himself. Then she proceeds to knee him in either the package or gut. After that she punched him with her left hand. She attempted to assault him 3 times, and succeeded twice. It's fair to argue that perhaps he responded too forcefully, but to claim that the guy had no right to defend himself is asinine.
Her punch didn't land, and even if it did, he's big enough and strong enough that she wouldn't hurt him. The "threat" from her was minuscule at best and didn't warrant a haymaker from an elite athlete.
A punch delivered from him has a pretty good chance of giving her a concussion or breaking her cheekbones, an extreme escalation over the small bruise she'd leave on his face with a direct hit. The appropriate response would've been for him to not strike her at all, and simply deflect any additional weak punches that she may have attempted.
So your argument is that because he's much stronger than her, he has no right to defend himself against one attempted punch, a knee to the gut/groin, and another punch? Sorry, I'm not buying it.
For all those saying he should have just walked away, have you seen the video? If there was space for that, this whole incident would not have happened.
#1 nobody has the right to assault someone in "self defense" when they can simply walk away from the altercation
#2 he was absolutely wrong to punch her in response to her drunken, awkward and weak attempts to defend herself and her position at the bar from his encroachment. She was not a threat that warranted that level of violence.
He had a lot of options including #1 above, shoving her out of the way, dragging her away from the bar, etc. Instead he overreacted and punched her in the face after starting the fight in the first place.
I can agree that the ferocity of the punch was an overreaction, but the video demonstrates that you're wrong about just about everything else in your response:
If you watch the video, not just the gif, it's quite clear that she was the aggressor. He grabbed her arm only after she raised a fist as if to throw a punch. That is CLEARLY not a defensive stance. She had every intention of punching him. Then while he's trying to restrain her, she throws a knee to his midsection and a (admittedly weak, but it's her left, and presumably weaker hand) punch to his face.
Her position at the bar was not in danger. Two ladies left the bar and she and he both squeezed in to assume those places. She was not trying to defend her place, but to prevent him from taking the other place.
Watch the video. If there was room to simply walk away, neither he nor she would be pushing and jostling to get to the bar and this altercation would never have taken place.
Again, even if there's room for that, what good does that do?
Again, she attempted to punch him once, then kneed him the package, then punched him in the face before he threw a punch. How does that equate to HIM starting the fight? If trying to squeeze your way to the bar in a college watering hole qualifies as starting a fight, I'd be serving multiple life sentences for hundreds of assault charges from my college days at the Hokie House.
This is really sad. You watched the gif, correct? And you're still defending him? Her "punch" was a desperate attempt to get her off of him. She was not a threat by any means, and even with a full swing the most she could do was nudge his chin. And then he knocked her out! There's a good chance she got a concussion there. How is this even an argument? It's embarrassing that someone would try to justify this.
The gif isn't the entire encounter, here's what the actual video appears to show from my perspective:
All of this takes place in about 20-25 seconds, and the time from when she starts pushing him away with her left arm to Johnson leaving the frame is less than 10 seconds. Here's a portion of the video that shows more of the incident than the gif:
I have two main places of disagreement with you.
First that you know she isn't a threat. There is at least one other person off camera reaching towards Johnson's face, are two women a threat? She has several friends come and comfort her after the incident, would 3 or 4 women be a threat to him? This doesn't necessarily mean that she was or wasn't a threat, just that we don't have enough about what's happening outside the camera's viewpoint to form an informed opinion. For all we know one of her friends could have been yelling, "hold him while I grab my taser and we'll teach the a-hole."
The other place I disagree is saying that Johnson knocked her out, when the video clearly shows that that isn't the case.
Just to be clear, while I think that it might have possibly been legal for him to hit her, I don't think it was right. Legal/Illegal doesn't always match up exactly with Right/Wrong and just judging by the video and not knowing anything else about the incident I tend to think that they were both in the wrong and should both be charged. I also think that because he hit a woman, Johnson should also suffer further non-judicial repercussions both informal such as loss of respect and formal such as how he's lost of his spot on the team.
1. he leaned in and she fussed at him
2. he leaned in again and she turned and fussed at him and raised her fist.
3 . THREE seconds after she raised her fist, he grabbed her wrist, pulled her arm down, and pulled her toward him.
4. she screamed at him, her last words being "LET ME GO!" and then, WHILE STILL IN HIS GRASP, kneed and attempted to punch him.
5. WHILE STILL HOLDING HER (at that point for about 5 seconds), he decked her.
before he grabbed her, it was an argument at a bar. after he grabbed her, it was open and shut battery. he was in total control of the outcome.
And what if the next thing she did was pick up a broke glass or bottle.
No, he had the right to stop the attack was it was still ineffectual.
Is he supposed to wait until she does hurt him?
He had a hold of her arm throughout until after he struck her, if he was in fear of being hurt why would he not let her go and back away?
You respond to each situation as it arises. As it stood, she kneed at him (you can see it in the GIF) without making any serious contact (in my opinion) and tried to punch him while being restrained and not making any real contact. At that stage he is in just about 0 danger of serious injury and could have walked away, continue restraining her, called a bouncer, etc.
If after doing all of that, she comes at him with a broken beer bottle, then she has escalated the situation and he can in turn escalate his force in self defense.
Edit: Also, she is not without blame in the situation. Looks to be a crowded bar, he bumped her (potentially not his fault if he too was bumped), she got upset, and things spiraled. But to sit here and genuinely believe that his punch was the appropriate response is something I can't wrap my head around.
I don't think anyone is saying that. (At least hardly anyone) What I, and a lot of people like me, are saying is that she is equally the problem that he is. From the comments of those who have responded to me, you would think I had about 10 women chained in my basement that I beat up for fun when I get stressed out.
I would disagree she was equally to blame, though she shares some blame, but we can argue that and it's pretty irrelevant.
My comment was aimed at people who say he was simply defending himself and seem to feel he was justified in doing so. I've even seen a few comments with people saying if she instigated it out of the blue he should have punched her and they would have too. Regardless of whether or not she started the whole thing, he had a number of options to "defend" himself. That punch was not defending himself from a threat in my opinion.
I think you and I are essentially on the same page.
She didn't.
So many hypotheticals going on in here trying to cloud what actually did happen in an effort to justify his actions.
Up-voting both of your posts because you're 100% correct, and to get rid of the -1. How anyone can downvote this is beyond me.
To me, it's the 1 second pause. He is not threatened at all in that second. That's the second decent human beings choose to walk away. He chose that second to "teach her a lesson."
Can't agree with that BH. No gun no knife no brass nucks no kick to the nuts? That chick could throw a haymaker and not hurt you. I have been slapped a couple of times by a chick and always turned and walked away. Hey I just might of deserved one of them! The TPD will cover it up by doing nothing. Think I will go study the FSU ethics code. I will have to put this on Google +.
Tongue lashing maybe, but I hate the attitude of "deserved the slap." The person who initiates violence is always wrong even if the person who retaliates might also be wrong.
He wasn't defending himself, he was reacting.
Yeah I gotta disagree with you here. For starters, regardless of what the woman did, the only way I hit a woman is in a legitimate self defense situation. I don't have a problem with arm holding, and I don't have a problem with restraint, but he hauled off and knocked the piss out of that girl. I know she "hit" him first, but at that point just turn around and walk away. I don't think he was in much danger of getting his ass kicked. He blatantly knocked the shit outta her because they were arguing, she tapped him on the nose and it made his eyes water. He lost his cool and bam. No way in hell you can say he was in the right or the girl deserved it. She may not be innocent, but c'mon man. Call her a name to save face and walk away.
Bullshit....context or not, this guy is a piece of shit punk. A man would walk away. Nice job parents!
I hope my daughter does not date your son.
If your daughter thinks it's okay to repeatedly assault a man who's done her no harm, I don't want my son anywhere near her either. Is this what equality has devolved to in our society? A man has no right to defend himself unless the assailant is another man?
Punching someone in the face who can't seriously harm you isn't defending yourself, it's going on offense.
He can defend himself just fine by deflecting her weak strikes and by walking away. After all he's the one who cut the line.
My daughter is 8. If she takes a swing at you, will you punch her in the face?
Without audio to the situation, you have no idea what happened. He bumped and pushed her from behind. Perhaps she said "hey, back the eff off a**hole" and he responded with some profanity of his own. In that case, I can imagine her trying to hit or slap him. Then he lays hands on her to restrain her, so she uses the only appendage that isn't being restrained to create distance (pretty much the first thing they teach you in self defense). Raising a fist may be seen as aggression, but laying hands on her, even to restrain her makes her next move of pushing him away with her knee not one of aggression but one of defense.
I'm not sure how to respond....
Nevermind...
I gave you a leg, not because I agree with you, but because everyone likes to pile on unpopular comments like yours and I don't feel like yours was downvote worthy.
In a sense, I get what you're trying to say. The girl was definitely not innocent here, and in our society of ever-progressing equality she has to be more responsible for her actions. However, that doesn't justify his reaction.
You have that completely backwards. Watch the actual video. His response was, well, CrimiNoley inappropriate. She is guilty of, at worst, being antagonistic, obnoxious and way overestimating her physical prowess, but that did not come close to justifying the response.
If you want to argue that they both should be charged, that's one thing. But to say that she has "earned" what she got is completely inaccurate.
Disagree - I don't care who you are - male, female, transgender, alien - if you hit me I have the right to defend myself and hit you back. THAT'S equal rights.
But do you have the right to escalate force?
If someone attacks you, it is safe to assume they are doing everything in their power to hurt you.
You don't need to stop, take out your calibrated torque wrench and gauge the power behind the assault and then attack them with the exact same force and technique.
The first individual punched and kicked, the second individual slapped.
So no, you are not responsible to ensure the first attacked receives a sufficiently poor response as to make sure they receive the identical amount of damage as done in the initial attack.
That does not provide carte blanche to pull out weapons unless you feel your life is in danger.
The point of the response is to halt the attack. You ALWAYS have the right to halt the attack.
Mission accomplished.
You see a slap, I see a punch. That's semantics. I don't think the fact that she hit him first excuses his response. He could have easily walked away, and that would have ended any repercussions right there.
She could have walked away and it never would have started.
Agreed. But I don't think that excuses his response. Not saying it excuses her action, but neither side is "right" here in my mind.
I don't think she could have, she was being held/pulled from the very start of the GIF
Go look at the video, the gif isn't an accurate representation of the event.
If he wasn't in a place that was illegal for him to be than it never would have started.
Escalate what? If i'm being hurt, I have every right to do whatever is necessary to protect myself. I'd argue the escalation has already occurred and now i'm just trying to ensure I don't get hurt.
Again, this is if someone - no matter what gender - attacks me first. I'm not advocating hitting first, but if someone does, then i'm going to do what I need to do protect myself.
I guess I just don't like the argument that this is the only option- or even the "responsible" option.
He had every opportunity to walk away. That is the responsible and correct option. In my opinion violence, especially not in self-defense of one's life or from significant injury, is not the responsible decision. (Let's not talk about other circumstances than this one, as that will unfortunately get into dangerous waters for this forum, I think).
My statement is simple: he had the opportunity to be the better person and the responsible party and walk away. He did not, and therefore they are both in the wrong. There is not always one wrong and one right, and just because one person was wrong does not make the other right.
TBF - I agree this guy is a jerk. I was contending the general argument that "You should never hit a lady even if she hits you first". Screw that - if I feel that i'm in danger, then I'll knock her out.
In danger of serious harm or death....do you think he was "in danger" here?? Or just in danger of a bruised ego and maybe a small bruise somehwere? Did she have a weapon on her?? Was she violently assaulting him repeatedly with no way to stop except by using force? He looks to me to have her at least half restrained and then calculates the punch and throws it. He could have pushed her down or wrapped her up and called a bouncer.
I can't believe people are actually advocating hitting a girl. People are claiming that if they were under attack they would defend themselves against a woman. However we aren't talking about a woman with a gun or a knife or any type of weapon. We are talking about a young college girl who is a lot smaller and is no way shape or form a legitimate "threat". He's going to get hit harder on the football field....especially if he faces us in the ACCCG. I would argue he is in a lot more danger on the football field than he was in that situation. Unreal. I hope he is gone from the team for good. If he wasn't I'd have serious issue with the school if that was my daughter. She may not be an innocent bystander in the situation but she didn't deserve the punch she received. I'm surprised someone didn't clock him back cause that's what should have happened. Unreal.
*sigh* I'm sorry but you haven't READ what I said.
I'm not specifically talking about this situation. I'm talking about if one should defend one self regardless of the gender of the assaulter. Please go back and look again.
(emphasis mine)
But we're talking about this situation. You apparently didn't read what I posted either. If a woman had a gun, knife or weapon and tried to assault him then yes throw the punch otherwise pick a different course of action. there is no way he is in real "danger" in this situation. I highly doubt any of those white college coeds were digging for a knife or other "weapon" to use against him. Again, she may not be blameless here but that doesn't justify her getting hit like that by him.
But....you're talking about a hypothetical of a a situation that I didn't even refer to.........
You know what? nvm. I don't want to talk to you about this anymore.
F'ing A BH.
Deleted just to stay out of it.
Lesson learned - continue to stay away from large groups of young, drunk, egotistical kids.
FFS, he could have defended himself by turning around and walking away. If he felt truly wronged he should've gone to get a bouncer. Oh wait, he was the jerk who cut in front of people and the bouncer would've thrown his ass out.
Dude did you not read what I originally wrote? I agree this guy is a jerk, but I was contending the general argument that "You should never hit a lady even if she hits you first". Screw that - if I feel that i'm in danger, then I'll knock her out.
do you think he was in danger there??
Well first of all, I haven't looked at the clip in its entirery - all I saw was a 2 second GIF and by the looks of it, no, doesn't look like she was putting him in danger (but again - that's not my point. Please go back to see what it was).
If she attacked him out of the blue FIRST - then I would've reacted like him and knocked her out. I don't care who you are, if you attack me first, then i'm going to defend myself.
That being said, it looks like from what I've read he pushed her / shoved her first, which makes what he did look like a douchebag and not what I condone.
So if a woman hit you first, you would knock her out?? Classy.
You'd know all about not having class.
...and now the thread has, inevitably, devolved into pointless bickering.
Took longer than I thought.
zero to fuzzy in one click. Behold the power of the moderator
Hey! He started the ad hominems!
You're starting to sound like a FSU QB.
YOU'RE AN AD HOMINEM!
+1
My reaction to this read now:
Watching this gif, do you think she hit him? She may have intended to, but she's too drunk and under duress to threaten him in any significant manner. Then he unloaded on her.
I'm curious how much your viewpoint is theoretical vs what is seen in this situation.
Looking at the video she seems upset he is pushing his way up to the bar and is really drunk and takes offense to it. It looks like she got bumped into him and sort of connected. One of my life rules is don't get drunk and start fights.
TBF - I agree this guy is a jerk. I was contending the general argument that "You should never hit a lady even if she hits you first". Screw that - if I feel that i'm in danger, then I'll knock her out.
Yikes! Granted, it's only a few seconds, but it looks pretty open and shut to me.
Alum you have a link also? Want to see a longer version.
Full Video Link
Watching the whole video I have several takeaways. 1) she is damn lucky it happened where it did, right under the camera 2) it doesn't matter that she pulled back to swing at him he was holding her at that time 3) the lady who was getting drinks when the video first started needs to back up with with cigarette standing over the drink prep area.
She had every right to swing at the punk.
Stewart Mandel posted it on twitter. He pushed her out of the way to get to the bar to start the entire thing.
Ultimately, it will be up to the prosecutor to decide charges.
That being said, and looking at the full video on that link:
1. Can't tell whether or not he pushed her or was trying to get through a crowd to get to the bar and got pushed into her.
2. Can't hear what's being said.
3. Her body language says she's a bit inebriated and threatened. The fist is essentially a "back away from me or I'll hit you" sign.
4. He grabbed her arm, but can't see any words being exchanged. The grabbing of the arm is an act of domination and control, typically. Hands up and exposing the chest would be a "I don't want any trouble" response.
5. Can't tell what initiated her punch, but she does try a couple times to pull her restrained arm out of his grip, and fails. She punches at him and it's hard to tell whether she actually connects.
6. He pulls back, still holding her other arm, and pulls her into his punch, and then walks/runs out of frame.
Of note, if she's right handed, which would be suggested by her initial fist, then she would have minimal control/power with her left fist. He has his left hand holding her right, so, if he's right handed, he's in a prime position of power to defeat someone. This could denote some training in fighting, which would be taken into consideration with the level of charges.
Her body language (and a good attorney would get a specialist to back it up) says that she's feeling threatened but taking a stand, which would probably get a "self-defense" look.
Also, there were two opportunities to de-escalate that were not taken. One, mentioned above with regards to grabbing the arm. Two, the reaction to the punch from her.
This was not a brawl. This was not a big guy against a big guy. At no point did his body language suggest he was feeling threatened, except with her punch, but his reaction wasn't a "whoa, whoa, whoa".
A good defense attorney for him (now, I don't know his background) will argue that his was pure reaction based on previous fights/training/what-have-you.
This is not a comment on whether she was in the wrong, he was in the wrong, or calling anyone names. The law will decide when it comes to that point. Perhaps, as well, others see it differently.
To me, you do have a right to defend yourself, but typically defending oneself in the eyes of the law requires a reasonable feeling of threat, and doesn't extend to retaliatory measures when the threat has stopped being a threat, and whether or not that is the case with his punch is for the justice system to decide.
His attorney defended Casey Anthony...fwiw
Well if that's not an admission of guilt, I don't know what is.
vtphoenix,
Out of curiosity, how does that change if she did, in fact, knee him in the groin? I think that would/could be considered a reasonable threat.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not defending or condoning his actions, I'm just asking from a legal standpoint.
It's difficult from the video to really convey what action was taken by her in the groin region. However, it's reasonable to argue that any woman is taught to knee a guy in the groin for defensive purposes (hell, even offensive purposes). It could be argued that she is being physically restrained and felt she had to use any means to free herself from restraint.
EDIT: Looking at it again, her leg was up in a separation movement, not a "I'm going for the groin" attack. If you'll notice from the video, he grabs her hand and starts bringing her a little closer, and her leg comes up to create distance. He continues to pull on her and she shoves out with her knee, again, to create distance.
Also, looking at it again, you can see her behind the guy with the tank top on, clearly waiting to get to the bar. She squeezes in, and he ends up trying to squeeze in behind her and she looks back and says something to him. With no audio, unless you're a lip reader, your guess is as good as mine. However, he keeps pushing through, and if you pay attention to her legs, she tries to establish a place at the bar that he walks through.
Depends on the lawyers and everyone with the legal system, but I could easily see her getting no charges, and him getting a couple talked down to not much of anything. He could easily be charged with battery and illegal restraint on the video evidence alone, unless the lawyer is able to argue about not clearly being able to identify that it is him in the video.
holy cow! finally, a comment which is not opinion. I think I'll upvote this (note, I am not downvoting opinion; though I disagree with some, I just don't like downvoting unless being personally attacked). It seems he will get away with almost nothing. If our society is at least somewhat just, he will never play football again and will end up grooming a career at McDonalds.
It will be entertaining to hear how FSU fans spin this one.
They both should probably be charged.
Should, but won't (if I had to guess).
They will have pretty different accounts of the interaction and it should be clear that she (intended to) act in self-defense (though quite drunkenly) and he will get off with some probation and community service because she probably said something racist to him (I mean, she did seem quite belligerent at that point).
...sigh... If only some people weren't so terrible.
She got knocked out. He has no right to grab her arm. She could have pulled her arm out instead of punching him. Johnson should know better than punching a female student so hard. FSU students and alcohol should not be mixed.
Of course he had a right to grab her arm. She was attempting to throw a punch at him (seen in the video before the point where the gif starts). You have a very valid point that he should have known better than to hit her so hard, but knowledge usually takes a backseat to instinct when another person is trying repeatedly to attack you.
So much disturbing here, but also the non-reaction by the dudes next to the girl.
My first thought as well.
Non-reaction? Look again, the hipster douche hip checks her back towards Deandre at the same time of her 'punch'... in fact, she wouldn't have touched Deandre if not for that elbow to her back.
Yeah, I see the weak arm check now by the metro dude wearing the ironic 'wife beater.'
Sheesh.
He even takes a second before he hits her. Her "punch" is a full on drunk attempt at "get off me." Then he takes his "teach this bitch a lesson" second before he hits her.
Fuck that guy.
According to his lawyer, former FSU QB Johnson was racially and physically assaulted by female student before he punched her.
The woman raised her fist and shouted "racial epithets" at Johnson when the player accidentally made contact when he was walking up to the bar, lawyer Jose Baez told NBC News.
Link
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fsu-quarterback-deandre-johnson-was-...
Of course Baez will go to this whether it happened or not. There is no way to prove it did or did not happen so he is creating doubt. This lawyer defended Casey Anthony, he's smart, and this is always a defense lawyers first step in a case with a lot of public observability.
Fuck the Criminoles. Really, what else do I need to say?
Both parties are at fault, which should not be viewed as an attempt to excuse either. As others have said, don't hit other people, period.
Does it seem her face got in the way of his fist?
She gave the drunk Amy Schumer swing, and he unloaded a full-out punch to her head while holding her arm. It's not an offsetting penalties situation.
There is nothing wrong with holding her to the same standard to which we hold everybody. Don't hit anybody.
They were both wrong.
They were both wrong, but he outright slugged her. She swung at him because he was physically controlling her.
The physically stronger person is the more responsible, as they are capable of inflicting more damage.
IMHO, when you escalate, you're taking more responsibility.
If you can't handle a bar situation, you shouldn't be in one.
If you want to get technical about it, he is 19... Not being there is a decision that shouldn't have been up to him in the first place.
She was out of line, but he slugged her.
It doesn't look good.
I saw two assaults here. Both should serve jail time. Neither is excusable.
Always disappointing to read the comments in these threads where people blame the woman.
Don't hit women. If you're in a situation like this, remove yourself.
Well said.
Amen.
I agree with you. He should have removed himself. However, why isn't she responsible for her actions as well? She could have turned and walked away too. She didn't have to hit him. I get that you hate where people blame the woman, but what about the other side? The side that blames the man because women can do no wrong.
The dude is a jerk and deserves everything coming his way. He is, without a doubt, the person most in the wrong and deserves punishment. With that said, she is not innocent either. I'd even wager that she would not have swung at him if she thought there was even a chance for this to happen. Screw men, women, black, or white. Right or wrong, if a human punches another human in the face the aggressor should expect some form of retaliation. Simply being a woman should not give you the right to punch anyone you want in the face nor should it give you the right to knee a guy in the nuts without some repercussion.
I don't think anyone has said that here.
People have been raised differently. After watching the video, I'd say put yourself in both person's shoes. In her shoes, here's a guy who bumped into you and might be getting a little mouthy with you. Perhaps you've already been bumped into and had other guys "accidentally" grope you all night and you're tired of it. So, you turn around and stand up to this guy; maybe tell him to back off or you'll punch him; and then he grabs your arm. What would you do? What would you think?
For his side: You're just trying to get a drink. You fight your way through a crowd and accidentally bump into a girl, who turns around and threatens you with a fist in the air. What would you do? How would you react?
In this case, it ended poorly. To say that she wouldn't have swung at him if she thought he would hit back is kind of the wrong way to go with it. It wasn't as simple as that. She didn't just swing at him for the hell of it. She swung at him because he was holding her arm and not letting go.
Perception of a threat plays a big role in determining the way these things play out, and she clearly perceived a threat.
She is wrong. She shouldn't throw punches or kick him or anything like that. Women assaulting men is also wrong.
He should have walked away. If he does that, nothing comes of this and he's still a football player at FSU.
When a woman is clearly to blame (for starting the altercation, not for the ferocity of his eventual response), why would you not blame her?
Should all people not be held to the same standard of human decency, regardless of gender?
Ultimately he deserves more blame for this incident. We're not 5 years old. "She started it" doesn't cut it.
His reaction was not one of self defense. It was an aggressive and unnecessary punch to the face.
all people should be held to the same standard regardless of gender. That standard is that if you have the ability to avoid using violence, you make use of it. That standard is that you have the responsibility to use whatever strengths you possess for the betterment of others and not to harm them. That standard is that you are not absolved of responsibility because of being drunk or annoyed or because you've had a bad day.
In this specific case, only one person made the decision to hit that girl. She might have been to blame for starting it, but it's a sad commentary on our culture if the ability to assign blame to someone else frees you up to respond however you want without regard to what is the best choice.
Neither of them are absolved of responsibility here. Assigning blame for starting it is fine, but it does not preclude blaming him for choosing how to react.
what he did was illegal...open and shut.
no matter how much of jerk she may have been, what she did was not.
if he had been a person in a position of vulnerability and knew bad things were imminent, it would be different. but he was not.
Both of them are in the wrong, mostly him than her, but she doesnt get out clean without ANY blame. I don't condone hitting women at all. I was raised not to put my hands on women no matter what. Im a pretty big guy (6'4" 225 lbs) so I could take the hits by this women in the video and not be fazed by it but lets just say hypothetically Ronda Rousey was in the same room as you and she was about to beat the shit out of you and there's no way of escaping being around her.... Are you going to keep taking the beat down from her or are you going to try to defend yourself by hitting her back? There's not a right answer here. You either get the living shit beat out of you and risk getting severe injuries, maybe even fatal, or you try to defend yourself by hitting her. Again I don't condone hitting women, never have, never will. But a minority of people might make that tough choice depending on the situation.
Edit: Ronda Rousey would kick my ass
But the situation presented here is clearly different than the hypothetical you're proposing. He could have walked away with next to zero difficulty. That's why he is also in the wrong, when he could have been in the right.
well duh its a different situation. I was trying to say whether you EVER hit a women. There is always going to be different situations, its not black and white like most people think. If you fear for you life and fighting back is your ONLY option, than you have to fight back. Obviously Johnson should of just walked away, but I'm just talking hypothetically.
And you'd love every second of it. We all would.
That escalated entirely too quickly. I think one thing that is often missed in these situations involving male athletes, particularly football players, is just the sheer strength they possess when compared to most people. You cannot convince me (unless the other person involved is brandishing a life threatening weapon) that someone with that strength advantage would ever need to take the altercation to the level that was shown in that video. Those who defend him by saying "she started it" or "she hit him first" just need to understand that males and females are not equal when it comes to physical strength (in almost all instances) and definitely are not equal when it comes to a football playing male versus a female. There were quite a few other ways physically for him to handle that situation that do not involve him hitting her with a right cross.
Also, will that one bartender open his eyes and clean up the blood drops on the bar and stop taking shots that are being given to him.
This reminded me of a paragraph from a blog post on chivalry:
"Men should carry bags, and hold doors, and pull out chairs, and offer seats to women, not because women are incapable of standing or opening their own doors, but because of what these acts represent — what they say. And what they say is simple: "I am bigger and stronger than you, but I will use my strength to honor you and protect you. I will not hurt you. I will not take advantage of you. I will humble myself before you and serve you."
Here's the full post, but fair warning while this post isn't particularly political or religious if you click links to his other posts you're likely to wind up on them.
Both bartenders didn't do squat to help her for quite a while. Must have been really dark and loud, cause they didn't see or hear anything.
Yea, the entire situation seems bad for the establishment:
1. smoking in the bar over the drink prep area (against FL state law for most establishments),
2. blood left for a very long time on the bartop (health inspectors will follow up on this and #1),
3. an 18/19 year old in the establishment at the bar trying to get a drink (alcohol law enforcement will visit the bar)
If the video isn't released none of that part of the scene is seen at all. I'm sure the bar owners are hating that video release.
I read these comments and he was wrong to hit her but.....
I have a buddy that was physically abused by a woman. He was an athlete and he could not get assistance because it was a case of, " look buddy, she can't even hurt you."
That there is a difference in physical ability is no excuse, she should not have hit him. She does not get let off easily by me, simply because she can't throw a proper punch or is too drunk to do so.
She is as guilty of assault as he is.
She shouldn't have hit him.
He should have walked away.
Its really that simple.
My opinion.
Agreed, but what he did was worse twofold:
A) He threw a haymaker
B) He's now off the team
Of course she could have hurt him, but a tap on the nose doesn't excuse a crushing right hand to the jaw by him.
Michael Holmes learned this as well, there is a difference between defending yourself and what that punch was to her face.
That she is a poor puncher is no excuse.
Would it have been any less of a problem if she COULD throw a punch and broke his nose?
Nope, it makes no difference at all.
She'll think twice about casually tossing about punches and trying to knee him in the balls next time.
I gotta disagree here, even if she did connect and break his nose, he still controls the outcome. This isn't Ronda Rousey, this is some girl at the bar who he is control of with one hand wrapped around her arm, she is a punching bag at that point. It really does make a difference.
Was she 100% innocent in the entire chain of events, probably not, but the point is he did just a little more than defend himself.
Nope, she gets no breaks.
She swings and kicks, she was trying to hurt him.
He shouldn't have punched her, he should have got her kicked out but to give her a pass because she got in over her head? No way.
She's assaulted him and to make excuses for it because she's a girl is to assist in excusing abuse.
I wouldn't have hit her but, you ca be sure I wouldn't let it slide. Not one ever lovin' bit.
Ok, you won me over, charge her with attempted assault. He gets the real thing.
Oh no way.
Charges are equal. You still want to excuse her behavior just because it's a girl?
I hope he's acquitted and she gets an assault charge.
I bet she shows up in court with pink fingernails and false eyelashes to try and sweet talk her "who? Little ol' me?" Routine.
Nope. No breaks because she's a female of the species.
I'm not debating who whether she should be charged with a crime, I'm debating whether what she did to him warranted a demolishing punch to the face.
I am fully aware that life experiences shape each of our beliefs on this particular matter, as someone who doesn't know yours I respect your opinion and really am trying to see it from your POV.
Can't see as where he didn't pull the punch as it is. It looks more like a slap to me, It looks like he didn't close his fist.
Low allying the reply to a punch and attempted knee to the groin only encourages additional response.
If he play slapped her, she might have done it again.
He ended the bloodshed and brought an end to the conflict.
Agree to disagree. Gotta run.
K have a good night.
Unfortunately as soon as you make contact its no longer assault. It's battery.
I'm not really agreeing or disagreeing, but what stance do you take if... instead of a girl, the person in question is a 5'4" 120 lb scrawny guy?
The same as if it were a girl, defend yourself.
I agree. The problem I have with many posters on here is that I'm 100% certain that they, and even myself probably, would have a different reaction if a small dude was to attempt to attack me as opposed to a girl.
How many times have we all seen a guy that's purely over-matched just get walloped because he was a little too drunk and instigated a fight? We don't all get up in arms about these situations, do we? Why? And why is the girl blameless in the same situation, all the sudden it's 100% the fault of the retaliator?
The answer is it should be no different, but we all know it is, and that's why equality is still evading us. I'm not saying that he was justified to knock that girl into next week and he's being punished accordingly, but she doesn't get a pass here either.
did you even watch the full video? He starts it by shoving her out of the way to get to the bar, she confronts him about it, he grabs her arm, she tries to defend herself and he punches her in the face.
http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2015/07/06/video-shows-punch-that-...
Did YOU even watch the video? He's not shoving her out of the way. He's trying to squeeze past her to assume a vacant spot at the bar and she throws a hip check to prevent it, even though she has already gotten her own spot. He doesn't grab her arm until she attempts to punch him with it. Now there are allegedly witnesses saying that she was hurling racial slurs at him while she was trying to knee him in the package and hit him again (http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/07/lawyer-woman-hurled-...) Seriously, every time I watch this my opinion of her culpability increases.
Obviously violence needs to be the last resort, regardless of gender, but I honestly don't think there are very many 19-20 year-olds who possess the self-restraint to put up with that much crap before losing their tempers and throwing a punch.
apples and oranges, this is a drunken bar fight instigated by a former college football player, who ends up punching a woman in the face because she has the gall to try and defend her position at the bar. It's not an abusive long term relationship..
No, it's an abusive short term relationship.
Just because your friend was in a bad relationship does not mean DeAndre Johnson was at all justified in decking this woman in the face.
Sorry, no, not buying it. Even if she hit first, I don't care. DeAndre was a scholarship football player at FSU who's sole job was to essentially lift weights and maintain peak physical health. Girl gets in your face, you walk the hell away. It ain't worth it.
All I will say is there are ways to defend yourself without the use of force, or increasing the use of force.
End of the day, they both should not have done what they did, but unfortunately this guy should have realized he has much more to lose than she does, and to be frank I hope he looses it. Just because she hit him first doesn't mean that he's exempt from punishment, just as because he hit her back harder (apparently) doesn't excuse her from hitting him in the first place.
They both need to learn a lesson.
The only time to hit a woman is if you are at a real risk of bodily harm. He was not at a real risk of getting injured. If she did all that then he shoved her away to stop the whole thing, I could get behind his cause but punching her in the face is way across the line.
What's good for the gander is good for the goose.
If you look closely you can see the dragon behind him. So he has no choice but to fight.
...oh there wasn't one...
Then no excuse.
...and turn the hat around, Bro!
Surprised they even let him have a hat on. Some of the bars I've been down south don't let guys wear hats or make them wear it backwards.
That's it. No more alcohol for FSU students.
yeah, i'm sure that is the number one most enforced/stressed rule in the FSU locker room. /s
I think you're all missing the point in this "who hit who" discussion:

Of course, there's this:

I wonder if he was dismissed because he was no threat to be the starting QB or because of insulting a female student.
Crap I was hoping for a bunch of injuries so that he would have to play then Dadi, Ken and (pick one) could show him what a real hit felt like in the championship game.
Picked up a serial down voter or 3.
Here's another opportunity for you guys to troll.
when you advocate violence as a legitimate response in a situation like this you're going to get down voted because you're wrong. It's not just an opinion. You are advocating illegal and immoral behavior.
He doesn't have any right to defend himself with violence because all he has to do to "escape" the "threat" posed by the person he started assaulting was to walk away. He shoved her, he threatened her, he grabbed her and suddenly it's her fault that he punched her in the face? Riiiight.
I'm not advocating violence. I'm not even defending his actions except in an indirect manner to point out the double standard.
I'm advocating that she has no excuse to punch him.
That she's a girl and that she has an ineffective punch is no excuse.
I already stated that I wouldn't have hit her but she gets no slack from me, just as no one is cutting him no slack.
If you look at the full video, he grabs her arm when she raises a fist to strike him so she uses her other fist to strike him as well as her knee attempt to the groin.
She struck him twice while he was trying to keep her from coming in with that right yet it's all his fault.
Or you know you could just be the better person and walk away? Not everything needs to be treated as an "eye for an eye".
It's not all his fault, but her actions don't mean you have to stoop to her level as well.
Like I said above, I agree but everyone is willing to throw him in the slammer while she gets a walk simply because she's a girl.
She does not get a walk just because she's a girl and he's not automatically guilty of the worsted of it just because he's male and more so because he's a male athlete.
At minimum, both are at fault.
I'm not sure everyone else is of that mindset, and while I haven't downvoted you once (nor do I think you deserve it) your posts in this thread seem to tend to the argument "he was justified his actions were okay because she hit him first".
If you're simply trying to say they're both at fault I agree 100%. If you're saying his actions were correct and justified, I disagree 100%.
I'm saying he's not auto jail for being a male and she's not auto get outta jail free just cause she's a girl and that's the way the thread started.
Agreed. At the end of the day, communication through text is hard to get the point across, so I can understand why there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding in all the posters, especially when it's a topic like this.
Yeah, snippets and sound bites make it hard.
Uh, no. You've consistently painted him as "defending himself" against an assault from the woman. Never mind the facts that..
1) he started the encounter by assaulting her
2) ignoring #1 for a moment, the threat she presented to his safety did not warrant that type of violent response
I saw the down voting above and tried to balance it out, I enjoy a lively debate on life things.
The downvoting for opinions is bad, complaining about it is worse.
I'll spank myself later.
But only if you feel like you are a physical threat to yourself, right? (sarc)
So much victim blaming in here, for a second I thought I had stumbled into Warchant.
Tallahassee PD is playing their usual game also. Victims name and information released with the police report but not the suspects.
From the same news story as the video:
So basically Florida law doesn't allow the police to redact a victims name from reports that are released except in specific circumstances and also because of Florida law suspects names can't be released during an ongoing investigation.
Tally PD could have asked her if she wanted anything redacted you know like her home and cell phone number or her freakin home address. Do you think some nut job FSU fan hasn't already used that information?
As I read the section of the news story that details the Florida Law regarding redacting victim information, police are only allowed to redact information from the report if it meets one of the criteria listed (sexual assault, child abuse or domestic conflict) and the victim requests in writing to have their personal information redacted.
.
Good one!
So I was catching up on True Detective last night and had forgotten all about this story, then I heard this quote during the show that I think better says what I was trying to say above..."The fundamental difference between the sexes is that one can kill the other with their bare hands".
Clearly this might not be 100% true in all situations, but in general this is true and I think is what leads to most of the outcry of seeing a man crush a woman in the face with his fist. Not saying it is right, wrong, or indifferent to base outcry on this premise, just made me think more about why I personally was repulsed by his actions and not necessarily hers...just found the thought interesting.
That may be true in general, but not always. And it certainly is not an excuse for either of the sexes to inflict any kind of contact on another person.
How about this example: I am 6' 2", 210lb. I am a reasonably strong man and certainly taller than average. If I ran into 5' 7" 135lb Ronda Rousey and she wanted to hurt me, I guarantee you that she would wreck my shit.
What if instead of a woman this QB had hit a 120lb 22 year old man that had tried to get him with a knee to the groin? Would you have been as repulsed?
I am with you in that hitting a man hitting a woman should never happen. But I also am realistic in that there is a very odd standard that goes on when you just make a blanket statement like that and ignore all other factors. its strange that if it had been a male of similar size being punched in the face, nobody would have thought twice about this story (or, really mind blowing, what if this was a stronger FEMALE hitting a smaller male?) Again, I doubt that anyone would really care. People certainly arn't giving Hope Solo a hard time about literally doing that.
First, as I said, the quote I used is not 100% true all of the time. All I would say to the Ronda Rousey argument is that the percentage of average females on earth who you come in contact with at a bar, who could actually kill an average male using nothing but their knuckles, feet, and elbows is incredibly low (Clearly, I have no scientific research around this, just me thinking out loud to myself). Thus, IMO, it doesn't justify thunder punching every female who takes a swipe at you because they could possibly be Ronda Rousey (or some other female equivalent). My take from the beginning has been and always will be that she should not have kneed him and should not have attempted to punch him, but the punch he threw while holding her arm down was savage and disgusting, again IMO. Lastly, no one will convince me that he couldn't have dissolved her "threat" using some kind of force and physicality other than what he did. There are degrees of criminality and charges for everything, his charge should be more.
2. So I have seen this argument, or hypothetical question posted earlier in the thread. And I like it, it really made me think, would I have felt differently if it had been a scrawny guy who he punched into next year? To me the question needs clarification, are we talking about a scrawny male being placed into the shoes of that girl and committing the same exact actions she did? That admittedly is a tough question for me to answer, but I'll try to keep it in the context of replacing the girl's actions in the video with a scrawny guy. If that is the case, then yes I still have a problem with the punch that Johnson threw while restraining now a scrawny male instead. BUT, as I admitted in my original post, my repulsion would have been less, right, wrong, or indifferent. I think what sometimes is missed in all of these types of tough discussions is how each of our upbringings and life experiences shape our opinions on all kinds of things/topics/situations. I appreciate the debate and I appreciate differing opinions that make me think!
As to #2, yes I was asking hypothetically if the only thing in this situation that was different was instead of a girl it was a smaller guy. All other actions being the exact same.
In that case, I think you could say with some assurance that this QB would still be on the football team. He certainly would have been disciplined, but I think he is still on the team and taking it a step further we probably don't even know a thing about this incident beyond "suspension for violating team rules"
I am with you in that I am not saying this guy was in the right in either case, far from it. Just an interesting thought as you said to how the situation would be viewed differently. I think it could be argued that a large athletic man could kill or seriously injure a small weak man with his bare hands just as easily as he could do that to a woman. And yet the public perception of those two actions is very different.
But it can work in reverse as well. I have seen small guys beat the ever living crap out of guys that thought they were tough just because they were "big". I guess the lesson here is (and one I live by every day)...don't hit people unless you have a really really really good reason or necessity to do so.
How has no one brought up the overalls shorts with no shirt bartender? That is a look you don't see everyday...
Because most of us were trying to forget we saw that.
Its in Tally! They have taken the W VA looks to new heights.
Never seen anyone in West Virginia dressed that way... Tally can have that look to themselves.
Man that collapse thread button Joe put in sure is getting a lot of action today.
It's a sad situation, glad they weren't able to pull the same thing they did with Jameis where they suspended him.... For baseball season.
Hope he is gone , however suspending 3rd string QB does not hurt for long.
Very true, at least justice has been issued this time around unlike the last time this sort of thing happened.
Wow, a lot going on here.
Some of you may know that I used to deal with violence and rape against women. I've seen these kind of incidents before and much worse.
For what it's worth, here's my take:
1) In the video, they clearly have both been waiting for an opportunity at the bar. As the group of women leave the girl slides in behind them. Johnson reaches in his arm to try to take a place as well. At about 1:42 in the video you can see that she is not even moving for the bar until she sees Johnson coming. Then she moves to get in. The girl feels his arm and shoulder and pushes back to try to push him out of the space. Johnson has not reacted. he is just trying to grab a spot. You can see from 1:45 to 1:47 she is actively pushing her body to move him out of the space. There is however enough space for both to be at the bar and make their respective orders. You can argue that she felt threatened that he was holding her back by not removing his arm, but again she didn't make a move to the bar until she notices him trying to do so. She doesn't allow for him to try to be at the bar with her, in space big enough for both of them. She initiates aggression by pushing deliberately and with force with her back, hips and butt to try to force him out of the space.
2) at 1:54/5 it looks like her left arm is on his chest pushing him. You can't see it, but it looks as if he grabs this arm first. This is the point of escalation. Everything beyond this point means both parties can sue each other.
3) At 1:56 her right hand goes up and speculating she appears to be saying "let go" with some profanities. He then grabs that hand as well. This is domination. Johnson appears to have both hands in control and is pushing her into the hipster behind.
4) You can see other female hands coming into frame grabbing Johnson's arms. It seems that this is what frees her left arm so that she can strike. She tries to kick or push with her feet/leg. Unless I am missing it, I don't see a groin strike which would be a swift upward motion of the knee. At 2:01 when she starts to pull back for her strike you can see that there are two or three hands on his right arm holding it down. She strikes, those hands delay his motion to grab the striking hand before it does so.
5) After she strikes he retaliates and strikes her with more force.
So here are the takeaways. As some have suggested though perhaps not so eloquently stated, the girl is not without fault. She initiated aggression by attempting to push him out of the space. The issue for Johnson is that at one point he appears to have both hands grasped, with other people trying to free the girl and the girl trying to push hiim away with her leg/foot. Again I do not see a groin strike. At this point he has control of both the girl and the situation, he could have and should have let her go and walked away, or tried to calm it down. He doesn't. The court and whoever they call to review this will look at this like I do and point this out. Therefore without any other evidence it will be deemed as him assaulting her first by grabbing her hands and pushing her back violently. her defending herself, along with her friends to try to get him to stop grabbing/pushing her. And then him committing battery with the final strike.
Now as I said, both sides can sue each other. But without any other evidence this is how I believe someone like me would comment on this video.
Agre with your analysis . He is holding her arm which is assault and i see no knee to the groin. There are very FEW times when battery of a woman is warranted. And this is "NOT" one of them.
Thanks, Fernley. I always appreciate your thoughtful input on things like this.
my pleasure
Good analysis. My take is this:
Her action is wrong. His reaction is inexcusable.
Who the f&^%$ is paying for his high end lawyer?
Viewing the 5:00 minute video I initially thought the responsibility of the altercation was a toss-up, largely depending on one's values and views on men/women confrontations. However taking a closer look, D. Johnson started and escalated the situation.
1) At 0:18, the woman of interest appears in the view at the very bottom of the screen. She's behind the guy wearing glasses at the bar. She stands and waits patiently with no action till 1:20 , to either get a space at the bar or get the bartender's attention for a drink.
2) At 1:20 someone taps the back of the head of the guy wearing glasses at the bar. He turns around and talks with someone behind him (who is out of view) which causes the woman to back up slightly. This continues till 1:40.
3) At 1:42 the women and D. Johnson move to the space(s) vacated at the bar. The woman acquires first position at the bar. D. Johnson, not to be detoured while partially blocked by the other woman leaving the bar, shoots his right hand between the two women at 1:50. Using his right elbow, he pins the woman of interest against the guy wearing glasses. He's locked her with a 1/2 position at the bar, she is unable to move, so she turns around to look at D. Johnson. He is behind her, not beside her.
4) He then places his right hand underneath the bar as an anchor for more leverage in blocking her, as seen at the 1:53 - 1:54 mark. This action is not just a "bump".
First, welcome to the boards. Here's your first turkey leg.
OT: but wondering where the username comes from. you wouldn't happen to be from, or lived in, Elko at some point?
Raised my entire pre-Virginia Tech life in Elko.
never thought I would find another person from Nevada, and before I got to VT as well. I spent my entire pre-VT life in Fernley. Played Elko many times in sports.
Nice to meet you here
I get it, now!
Sorry, fernleyhokie, that's Elko, Virginia.
And here I was, thinking you two should get a room.
Posting in my first thread, and I'm getting abused already. Y'all make me feel welcomed.
"You gotta really perty mouth."
JK, Welcome.
No need treating you with kid gloves now, you'd only get soft.
Your first post was good, though.
A leg for taking the heat! You'll be fine.
just a head's up, the battle of bristol is taking place in Tennesee, not here
I just bought my plane tickets!!
So we wear white? Maybe a coin flip and we can wear all maroon. They have better 'shine over there. That's a positive note.
Should this thread go down in the books with some sort of historical note?
Did anyone else get confused between DeAndre Johnson and DeAndre Jordan? I didn't understand why Mark Cuban wanted to talk to an ex-FSU 3rd string QB...
I honestly got confused between DeAndre Johnson and Andre Johnson. Andre Johnson delivers his haymakers on the football field though.

Edit: gif embed
Bro, you gotta link the video so we can watch Cortland Finnegan get his ass whipped.
Shockingly FSU fans have started a petition to reinstate him.
https://www.change.org/p/florida-state-coach-jimbo-fisher-reinstate-dean...
The thing I find truly ironic is that the petition was created by a female. Makes me wonder how she would feel if she was the one who got laid out.
In order to sign the petition, each should submit a video of themselves being struck in a similar fashion to that shown in the De'Andre Johnson video.
BTW, it's not suspended indefinitely, he's been dismissed from the team.
Dalvin Cook, RB, is the next one to have an investigation started for battery....
Davin Cook Under Investigation of Battery
Right now, though, we shouldn't be throwing stones.
