Duke redshirt senior linebacker Kelby Brown will miss the 2015 season. Brown suffered a torn left anterior cruciate ligament last Tuesday. Brown's football career at Duke is over.
"It's difficult to put into words the feeling of heartbreak I have for Kelby and his family," Duke head coach David Cutcliffe said in a release. "While we will certainly miss his athletic abilities and leadership as one of the best linebackers to play at Duke, what is most important above all else is Kelby's health. He is a truly special young man who is destined to accomplish great things in his life. Kelby's strengths lie in his core values, and I know that despite this setback, he will continue to play an integral part of our program's success both on and off the field."
Brown was a first team All-ACC selection in 2013. He missed the entire 2014 season after he tore his left ACL during the preseason. He had procedures on his right knee in December of 2010 and February of 2012.

Just brutal luck for the guy; I feel for him. It's a crappy way to end a career.
Injuries are never good. The good news is he has a degree from Duke to fall back on which ain't a shabby thing to have.
It sounds like he'd be have a good shot at a 6th year if he want's it, but he might have decided that it's not worth the extra wear and tear.
Unfortunately, this was his sixth year. This was his fourth ACL tear.
Joe's post only mentioned that he had missed 2014, so I went by that, +1.
Yeah, he missed 2012 as well. Was the right knee that time.

Hopefully he took advantage of the academic opportunities available at Duke. Good luck to him in the future, just a really sad story.
You never want to see a successful athletic career of any kind end like this. I hope he finds success in his life after football.
