Brewer just needs to cut back on interceptions to be effective, some of his throws at times last year were mind boggling. Last part of season was much better, his real strength as QB is be an effective leader and get the ball downfield more.

Brewer for good or bad needs to be let loose to run and gun. when the offense was reigned in to control INTs we sucked donkey. I definitely could do without the turnovers but what I really hope doesn't happen is the conservative play that sucked the life out of the middle of last season.

Oh, I wasn't calling for conservative play since I said get the ball downfield. :-) I was referring to the type of interceptions that didn't make sense like the screen play in the middle of the field that was returned.

yep, I understand. wasn't disagreeing, more like adding to your original point.

I think if Brewer can get through OSU unhurt then watch out. A lot of those INT's next few games likely came due to some serious bodily harm.

not sure that brewer will ever be fully healthy.

If Brewer can do all that, the Hokies' offense might be good enough to finally turn a corner and Tech will win some more games.

Don't it sounding like we're loluva.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

I really hope Brewer gets this team rolling this year and becomes a national name. I think I have more faith in the passing game right now than the running game. Maybe that's a good thing, I think the running game will be ok but not enough to carry us like it has in the past.

Brewer is our Brett Favre, minus the questionable messaging of indecent images.

As far as I know.

You mean you haven't gotten a picture of the "Brewmaster" yet?

If he or any ladies he has known haven't jumped on this naming opportunity yet, I'm not sure I want him as our quarterback.

IIRC there was an awkward situation involving yeast, so re-branding was in order.

This picture and this quote is absolutely amazing! After all this MAN has been through I hope that the next season rewards him for his hard work...

I mean at the very least he's going to know how to respond to "what's a Hokie" at the start of the season

I know the gt game is kind of a bad nightmare for Brewer but he did recover a juice fumble and scored a td. The kid has moxy.

To be fair I do recall the coaches saying that not all the interceptions were his fault. Remember he was throwing to mostly freshman last year. The WRs made some mistakes as well that caused those picks. Of course no one knows what the receiver is doing is wrong and only sees the QB throw the ball the the other team so he gets all the blame. Not to say a share of them weren't his fault but I don't think every interception was. I have a lot of hope for him this season. If we don't make the ACCCG it will be a disappointment.

Nope, false. Lies. Every single INT is the sole responsibility of the QB. Why should it matter if the WR cut off his route a few yards short or didn't cut under the defender like he's supposed to? The QB should see it and throw it away. But not really away, he should just throw it to someone else. Who's open. Duh.*

*I've heard arguments that are disturbingly close to this. *Facepalm*

He engineered the rally against Boston College that was substantial but ultimately came up short. He made some big throws late against Duke after struggling early. And he rallied the troops against Virginia after separating his shoulder, a pain that would've knocked most quarterbacks out. Brewer's a tough son of a gun and he leads. Those are two qualities on the check list for a starting quarterback. Now he needs to be smarter about where he goes with the ball.

Couldn't agree more, Andy. So much respect for the toughness of this kid.
