Fellow TKPers,
I am headed to a soccer game at FedEx stadium and need some advice for a good spot to stay. I am looking for easy to find/easy to get to the stadium and at a reasonable rate. Any suggestions?

Casa de Jander has a stocked mini-fridge and a pull-out couch with reasonable rates...
NEVER GO TO FED-EX FIELD. Nothing good can happen there.
Hard to find truer words here, except when they cut loluva down to size.
I'm hoping that changes. Particularly in 2017 when Virginia Tech meets West Virginia there.
Best bet is to find a hotel near the metro. NE DC is pretty empty on decent hotels (they exist, but I wouldn't recommend).
If you are driving, there is a secret back way off of 50 that is nice. Leads to a school that they haven't towed at. When I saw Barcelona and Man U there a few years back, people were parking anywhere. Absolute mayhem. Was more packed then any of the Skins games I'd been too.
This statement is Leonard-certified.
I travel to DC a lot and the METRO is the way to go. DC Hotels can be pricey, but as you get further out on the METRO they get cheaper. Old Town Alexandria is nice and metro accessible. If a hotel shows a Metro stop on their web site call to ask how close it is; some will show a stop several miles away.
I've gotten some deals on Hotels.com when they have a sale, but don't use them very often as the hotel web sites are generally as cheap or less.
Get Metro cards - otherwise they add $1 each time you ride to the fare; and a card is only $2.00 so 1 round trip and the card is paid for. Also, you can go slightly negative on the balance as well, about a buck or so.
Here is a link to getting there via METRO:

Also, please, please, please remember - Walk left on the escalator and stand on the right if you are not walking on the escalator.
Don't go to FedEx, ever.
Stay in Northern VA near a metro.. Tyson's has a metro stop now. Falls Church has some nice hotels for under $100 a night. Drive to West or East Falls church and use the lots there.. $4 to park.
Again, I tend to arrive at the stadium way way way earlier to join friends tailgating. so parking out in the lots isn't an issue.
