Could not agree more, I love here and all I see are Ohio plates and anOSU symbols. Was so happy my car was decked out in VT stuff after last years game.
i'm in Virginia Beach and after the championship game, i started noticing all the OSU flair on cars.
i understand my hometown has a transient community by way of the military but i also think the t-shirt fans have all decided to come out of the woodwork...
Went to the thrift store this weekend and there was a lot of OSU gear there. Like, a strangely abundant amount.

I will say this is giving me a good laugh. If I'm at this game, I'll have to bring this up at some point to any of my OSU friends or co-workers. Having visited SC frequently, I'll say there is at least one "OSU" bar in every city/locality, which is annoying.
Being a MDer, I'll also say it is not too surprising that we are in the Top 5 for both "most likely to curse" and "most courteous"... (man I just wish the football game would get here)

Preach on! I'm here in Hilton Head for a quick trip down to the coast from the upstate, and it is Ohio South here.
It's tOSU everywhere. In our condo, my wife counted 10 Ohio license plates in a row.
When we got on the elevator from the beach, two ladies got on as well. I asked 'Y'all from Ohio too?' and they were.
They are everywhere.
I would avoid Mangiamo's at all cost. I've done a fair amount of work for them, It's anOSU bonanza in there.
If Ohio is so great, why does everyone leave there?

On a tangent I was very proud to see that NJ snagged a top 5 spot in states most likely to curse at you. That is some tough competition and I am proud of the anger and casual displeasure my fellow Garden Staters displayed there.
Keep it strong! I mean you can't fault the Canadians that flood the South Jersey shore, but the PA plates are the worst drivers known to man. I mean the lights are synced to go from one end of the island to another at certain speed limit but these people manage to go 15 below the speed limit and you catch every damn light.
P.S. If you are from out of state and are on a NJ highway, do not stay in the left lane driving anywhere close to the speed limit, by close I mean 15+ over. On all other roads the minimum speed you should be driving is 5 mph over at least. Being ticketed for speeding at 9 mph or less is a no-point offense and you can just show up in court have it plead down to a meaningless ticket. If you don't heed my suggestions you're more likely to see the "NJ Bird" than the "Hokie Bird".
As proud native son of Ohio I can say I just moved back to Cincinnati and love it. Trust me, if SC didn't have beaches and good weather Ohioans would never cross the Ohio river. The god awful slow pace of everything in the south is irritating. It should not take 15 minutes to get food at Hardees people and the speed limit is 5 mph slower than you should drive. I will stop myself before I rant for ever. I lived in a southern state for 5 years before this and the people and culture drove me to leave a job I liked. Just give us the weather and the ocean and we will happily never cross the river again
How far north outside Cincy are you? If your willing to drive up to Dayton area I have food recommendations for you.
I grew up in Dayton, I could probably give you food recommendations. I know several firefighters up there. My brother is one now, a longtime family friend is now a Captain, and my high school friends dad was Chief around 2002-2005 I think.
I was a firefighter in Trotwood and lived in Miamisburg from 2010-2013.
My brother is Fairborn, all the rest were City of Dayton. You got some of the up and coming years, Dayton was falling fast from 2000-2010. Trotwood is meh, Miamisburg is a nice blue collar town.
Trotwood is not meh it's , holy sh%# this is bad. We called it little Detroit, house fires, shootings my stabbings we got it all.That's why working there was great. Speaking of Miamisburg, Ever had hamburger wagon?
I worked roofing for a guy who was raised in Miamisburg, we would swing by if we were working near there. They are like when my grandma would fry burgers in lard.
Counterpoint: If you had the beach and good weather, you would probably slow down and enjoy/savor things.

May I recommend that since we are southerners and there is nowhere place on earth better to live, we have learned to not be in an impertinent rush to be somewhere else.
In your haste to live you have not recognized your presence in a place that demands reflection in its perfection.

I am a Virginian who is a southerner (aka, born and raised south of Richmond). This whole post pretty much just pissed me right off.
I am confused, how in the world do you come on a Virginia Tech board badmouthing the entirety of the south? I'm not obtuse enough to judge "the midwest" but I will say that from personal experience, Ohio is pretty below average in terms of what it has to offer. A dirty lake? Fish that taste like mud? The BENGALS?!?!?! The reality is, you like ohio because it's filled with people who share the same values and behaviors as you..... The difference between Ohioans and southerners? We don't wish we lived somewhere else.
TKPers, did you know that for half the summer near Lake Erie, that Ohio suffers through swarms of flies so thick that it covers their buildings? What a charm! No wonder they cross that god-forsaken river.
Did you know there are 8 foot tall men covered in long thick hair and oversized feet that roam the woods in the south and eat children and drink all the moonshine? I have not once experienced this fly swarm except for the once every 17 years the cicadas come out.
We do have snow birds and just like NY and NJ our elderly like Florida, but I can assure you people are not all longing for somewhere else. Ohio has a ton of state pride because everyone who has never been here acts like we are some sleepy little Midwestern state where we are all wearing overalls and knawing on a single wheat strand. Nevermind the 6 professional sports teams, 8 div 1 football programs, and 4 metropolitan areas.
We will continue being the best kept secret in the U.S. and won't feel the need to apologize for our tourism dollars. For all the hospitality southerners brag about, I have always found an attitude that if you weren't born there, you can never belong there.
I gave you a leg but there is no way, I would want to live there at any season of the year.

Dude, I went to Ohio because I had a wedding to attend. It was an okay state. For the swarms of flies, the 60 degree evening in July, and the general attitude that "Ohio is better" which is pretty thick with.......lots of people from Ohio, apparently...... I don't really care to go back.
As far as not being accepted unless you're from the south, if you treated southerners the way you wrote about them on here, I am not surprised that was your experience. Bless your heart.
I enjoy living in the south, but I, too, have had disappointing experiences with southern hospitality. My wife and I moved to a small town in Georgia and pretty quickly learned that the only way to get to know people in the town was to be born there. The poor uneducated people stuck together and the rich educated people stuck together and we (educated, but poor and fresh out of school) were stuck in the middle. We were just too different. We were definitely outsiders despite our efforts to be friendly. In fact, people were nicest when they learned we were leaving. We had about a dozen people show up to help us move out, which was more than we have had positive interactions with during the entire year we lived there.
I still love sweet tea and country music and the slower pace, and we still live in the south, but now we're in a suburb-y area that we seem to fit in better. There's a lot of good things in the south, but there's also ignorance and poverty and racism and greed and some pretty skewed senses of priorities.
As neither a southerner or Ohioan, I feel I need to respond and bridge the gap. First off, I am from Atlantic City and still live on the same island. I live right next to Marven Gardens(yellow on Monopoly(they spelled it wrong)). When I was younger I dated a girl from Ohio(youngstown area) and she took me to a couple bars. These Ohio people were chanting the O-H-I-O chant in each of these bars. I was like what the hell, there isn't an Ohio Special Olympics tournament going on is there. She told me this was normal. I was perplexed by this rust belt state pride. But I just realized why Ohio people don't travel directly, east which would make the most sense. They would have to deal with a bunch of Penn State clowns.
As for the South, it is slower for a reason, there is less money involved...
