OT: Gameday Pump Up/Tailgate Music

As we rapidly approach another football season, I'm interested in seeing what everybody listens to to get ready for gameday or to get into the tailgating state-of-mind. Obviously, "Enter Sandman" gets all of us stoked for football, but what are some of your other favorite football jams?

Disclaimer: I love anything from rap to metal to country, so whatever style is your favorite, let us know.

This song just gets me ready for football. No questions asked.

Here's a song from a band (from my hometown!) that just gets me ready for battle. For all you metalheads: colossal riffage and a great rhythm section make up this six-and-a-half-minute metal grand opus.

"Have you ever seen the scarlet day...?
Or felt the calloused hand of age?..."
"Taste this oaken grain.
Grab the horns, not the reins."

Anyway, sounds like something metaphorical about the Scarlet and Gray meeting the Lunchpail, to me.

This song just gets me in the tailgating mood. A little Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, and good fun country.

"Another workin' week is over
No chance of stayin' sober-
I can feel a good one comin' on."

Anyway, have fun and let us know what you'll be listening to to get ready for this football season. It can't come soon enough.

Leg for the Baroness. Good call.

"Galvanize" by The Chemical Brothers will forever be the second hypest pre-game song ever...

"It might be dark outside, but it's LeDay in here." - Jay Bilas

While it needs some tweaking for college...I always like blasting this when we have Monday games.

Classic Rock most of the day, especially Tom Petty and CCR if it's warm. About 3-4 hours before the game transition over to party music. Start with some chill rap and build up to rap/raging music. Make sure to include plenty of Nelly and any song that all the hammered tailgaters can sing along to.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

It's good to have a sense of humor when getting pumped up. It helps alleviate some of the tension.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"
-gobble gobble chumps

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

My favorite hype song of all time - Eminem: Til I collapse

'Til the roof comes off, till the lights go out
'Til my legs give out, can't shut my mouth.
'Til the smoke clears out and my high perhaps
I'm a rip this shit till my bone collapse.

Always my go to pump up jam. In the lockeroom like...

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

Another great one is the Eric Thomas how bad do you want it speech.. chills every single time I listen to it. I linked it for anyone who wants to hear it.

How Bad do you want it

Only way I'm playing that before a ballgame is if it's in homage to Newsome and O'Cain.

If you play it, they will win.

And some how it's 2 in the morning and I'm watching a music video by Taylor Swift.

Yep, it's definitely the offseason.

Deal with it.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Small Town Throwdown--Brantley Gilbert. Very blue-collar song, just like the Hokies: "'Round these parts ain't much to do, 'cept work like a dog till Friday (practice). Punch that clock, cash that check, raise a little hell till Sunday (Saturday is gameday)."

This is the song I listen to early in the morning on game days. Especially at the beginning of the season.

Buy Me a Boat is my new favorite song. If you replace boat with Ferrari it summarizes my life.

Rip his freaking head off!

What?! No Jock Jams Volume 1?

I wish I still had that CD. What a great compilation.

I think everyone had that CD at one point.

If you play it, they will win.

I had it on cassette!

Can't speak for the whole tailgate, but you can never go wrong with listening to these guys for the final half hour or so before walking to the stadium...
