Let's Talk Videos

I felt that I owed everyone an update on the trailer(s) as it has been a while since the announcement on isittimetobeatbama.com.

The original plan was to get the videos out earlier this year so we can all enjoy them sooner than normal. After much discussion we have a change of plans. Just as a child feels a sense of holiday magic around December, we feel the football gods begin to smile in the Summer. One by one we realize "hot damn we are a couple months away from football!"

It is at that time MStrawther and I will start laying down the videos one after the other. We have 4 new videos planned. One is done, two are started, and the other is still in the 'hey do you think this song would work?' stage.

I'd like to open up some discussion though to see if anyone had any ideas for a video that I could crank out this Spring. Sometimes I like to just sit down at my computer, kill a case, and see what I made when I wake up in the AM. Some ideas I had are:

  • a #BEATOREGON parody video that would highlight UVA failures and feature a very feminine soundtrack
  • take the existing Power Hour and add 40 more clips to make a 100/Century video
  • use some catchy 80's music to make a comedy training montage using spring practice footage.

Seriously, don't hold back, I am open to consider anything!

Also, if anyone is itching for some highlights right now, I recommend checking out RealDiehl's 2013 trailer over here.

All great ideas. However, if you do choose to make an 80s montage video, may I suggest "You're The Best Around"?

yes... just yes

Sweep the leg

A new season...new hope

Put him in a bodybag, Johnny!

Danny Coale is still open.

oh my god, please make this.

Angsty girl rockers, please!

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

Paramore or Flyleaf anybody?

#ENFUENTE #BALLSOFSTEEL #Livefor32

Complicated by avril lavigne please!

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

Bitch, by Meredith Brooks maybe? Or maybe take it in a different direction with something like Millionaire Waltz by Queen. It's certainly effiminent, and everytime he says "I want to share it with you" cut to a terrible UVA turnover...

It was a catch

Anything with Elton John might also fit a highlight video for UVA

@VTimHokie85

A section on Mike London with the theme song from Cops?

Wait, was he a cop? I'm not entirely sure that I heard that yet (today)

I prefer "I Shot the Sheriff"

#LOLUVA is tailor made for the Titanic theme song...

This one is going to be fun.

I've always thought Foxy Shazam's "unstoppable" would make for a pretty sweet montage. Maybe do cuts of beefy running plays and players taking the field and stuff during the verses, and then cut to awesome long bombs and kickoff returns and stuff like that during the chorus...

Drowning Pool "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" would be awesome to show case a hard hitting D!

Stop it with the Negative Waves!

I need to go change my pants now.

That song is best used in the Benny Hinn montage

Posting from my phone, so no link, but isn't too hard to find on Youtube

How about a video of VTs best QB runs? Logan, Tyrod, Marcus, Randall, Vick, and DeShazo all had some pretty sweet wheels (pun intended.) Seriously, a QB run compilation would be sweet.

There are two Pillar songs that lend themselves to a football video, Frontline and For the Love of the Game.

Frontline would work for a video focusing on the O and D lines. I would picture it starting with the clip of Grimes from the introductory press conference when he has the Tip of the Spear/Toughest Line in the ACC quote.

For the Love of the Game would fit well with a video about bouncing back from a bad year. One shot that I would suggest for a video like that would be the trophy case at the line, "Your final destination keeps you focused on the win."

I just watched where someone had posted the video of V. Fuller returning a blocked FG for a TD and had an idea for a video series that focuses on former Hokies and the anticipation of Legacy recruits/players contributing next season.

For example, you could show highlights of Vincent, Correy, and Kyle Fuller and then end with some HS highlight footage of Kendall.
With Bruce/Alston Smith and Jim/Woody Barron videos you might also be able to add in some practice/spring game footage as well as HS.

I would love a video that shows old-school footage of snot-nosed lineman panckaing DL's, and from the otherside, our smothering 4-6 defense destroying ppl -- and then transition that with something with a guy's voice in the background harkening our current team to get back to basic principles and become like them -- then transition to the few good things we did last year to look fwd to the following year.

I'll tell you this, every time a Hokie game completes, win or lose, I want to see the highlights. The complete highlights. I appreciate to no end the 'every play'-type video, with commercials and the like cut out, but when I go for the highlight tape (on any website, whether it be ESPN, SI, Yahoo, whatever), there are always critical and/or awesome plays that get left on the cutting room floor. Or some announcer lines that should live on, but get lost because they aren't during the actual plays. So I guess my request is a comprehensive highlight tape for games.

Let's not forget, though, that part of documenting the team and season isn't just the thrill of victory. Whether we win or lose, there are tension-filled moments throughout the game that make the ending what it was (I think back to Miami LoganSneak. We were up in that game, Miami came back, then we won, but that is lost on the highlight reel. Or when we lost at home to Matt Ryan. The final toss, or even the TD-OnSide-TD sequence loses the impact of the entire game).

Don't get me wrong, a highlight tape of each time Logan laid someone out would be epic. But a narrative of the game/team/season in the way it felt at the time is something that only YOU, BillDozer, can deliver.

Oh, and an everybody-since-Torrian-Gray-15-year-long-summary-of-DBU would be money. With all the guys.

It's been done, and done well by Michigan for #LOLTREDAME, but some fast paced video footage of #UVAFAIL set to "Yakety Sax" (the Benny Hill theme song) would be so choice. Perhaps with some extra emphasis on London running out the clock on his own team at the end of the Commonwealth Cup.

This is something that I don't think exists outside of Lane, but game video with Roth and Burnop doing the game would be ideal. Quite frankly, I think we have one of the best radio duos out there. I'd replace most anyone on TV with them if I could, with perhaps the exception of Musberger. I don't think we ever had Keith Jackson do one of our games (I think his Mussness did the 99 NCG?), but that would have been a classic. Jackson was the best ever.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Although Musberger seems to be getting easily distracted in his old age...

How bout a BeamerBall montage with some music that fits and I also enjoy hearing the commentators as well. I want to see every punt block every field goal block, every punt ret and kick off ret and also the ints for tds and just ints
