UVA doesn't have the same caliber of QB's that OSU does.
I wasn't saying I am surprised, I just hope it gives the Hokies a slight edge if there is discord in the OSU locker room.

When Barrett goes out with a concussion after the second sack (third play of game) the backup will get plenty of time to run for his life the rest of the game.

SiriousXM college tour was at OSU yesterday. They had some of the Slobs and LB Perry on for interviews. They sounded very smart and well spoken, and that they had the right outlook (prepare the same for each game, pure emotion [revenge] is dangerous, they don't talk about last year).
Whoever takes the field for them is going to come to play; the scheme and endurance is going to make the difference.

There is going to be one guy starting, but another guying playing. If you want to trust me (and I'm not saying you should), JT Barrett will start and Cardale Jones will play. Exactly how that will break down will probably be a fluid thing depending on success (or lack thereof) one or the other is having, as well as time and score. I think you will see Cardale at least 1x per qtr for a series in that first game, and maybe in some special situations (short yardage or when they want the ball thrown 70 yards downfield?)

agree for sure.. however when Cardale comes in wouldn't it tip off VT as to whats coming ie ground and pound or a deep deep ball? The key for OSU is to make sure both QB's can be interchanged without skipping a beat/change of play calls

Yes, it would tip them off, but also force them to change their defensive approach. With JT you need to defend the pass 40 yards down field. With Cardale, it's more like 60+. With JT you have to think run inside or out, especially off of inside/outside read-option concepts. With Cardale, you think more straight ahead run off of power zone/counter action.
The downside to changing QB's during the game is the potential loss of rhythm and momentum you can have. The upside is the Ohio State QB's get hit more than the average bear running the offense, and you can spread that contact out and reduce the odds of injury. Although, when Cardale is rumbling downfield, I worry more about the health of the guys coming up to hit him than I do him getting hurt. Still, one perfectly timed hit on the wrong body part of JT or Cardale will make Braxton Miller a back-up QB.
It will be really interesting to see how that plays out on Labor Day.

I'm generally in the camp that thinks if you have 2 QBS you don't have 1. If anyone could pull off a 2 qb rotation it's Urban Meyer but too often they end up going the way of UNC where the change is made randomly, I guess to change things up, and neither qb can find a rhythm.
If I had to guess I think Cardale will be used similar to how we used Motley last year, though I'd imagine he would get more passing attempts than Motley. A full series each quarter seems a tad too much for me but then I'm not an offensive genius like Urban Meyer.
Now if you'll excuse me I have to go wash my mouth out for that last sentence.....

I agree that JT will start, but the playing time breakdown will be fascinating to watch. Furthermore, if JT starts and OSU is down 21-7 at the half, does Meyer start Cardale for the 2nd half? After all, that would be 6 quarters in a row JT has struggled against Foster. And if you're Meyer wouldn't it bother you not knowing how cardale might perform against this team that has baffled you?

Meyer fielded one of the few successful two QB systems at FL. Who's to say he couldn't do it again?
