purdue and illinois surprised me, but this does go way back
Drew Brees was enough to get Purdue included.
This list is surprising. I wouldn't think a school like Oregon (who you only associate with recent success) would be on it and not us.
Well we're 65 (out of 797) with 139 players that have played in the NFL. Currently though, we're 34th for active players in the NFL.
What do these lists count? 53 man rosters? Drafted players? Anyone who has signed an NFL contract?
According to the site referenced by the link above, we're 65th with 139 players in the NFL. More interesting is "active" players. When sorted by active players, we have 24, which is tied with Arkansas for 34th place.Hokie_x3_HIi beat me to it. Leg for you!
It'd be nice to see them do one with current players
San Diego St.?

Air Coryell!!! coach from 61-72
And a few other alumni, that most likely have a soft spot for their own alma mater.
Joe Gibbs, John Madden, Ted Tollner, Herman Edwards, John Fox, Sean Payton, Tom Cable, Brian Billick
anyone else curious how this would look if they did player-years? That is, you get 1 point for each player for each year he was/is in the league. As it stands, you could have one guy who plays 10 years in the league not count as much as a school that puts 10 guys in for a year or less each.
They do list an "Approximate Value," but I think that is only for individual players and not grouped as schools. I don't want to learn how they arrive at this number, but if anyone is curious, the details are here
Bruce Smith is listed at 6th all time (since 1950) with an AV of 223.
Mike Vick comes up 24th out of active players with an AV of 111.
It's probably not surprising to anyone that Peyton Manning is the leader of both lists with an AV of 269.
my bad, I didn't click through to the actual site, I just looked at the first level, top 50 one.
