Report: Frank Beamer Retiring After 2015 Season

Mike Jurecki of 910 AM in Phoenix, a Cardinals Insider, tweeted Frank Beamer is set to retire after the 2015 season.

Keep in mind, it's a single sourced report. I have requested a comment from the Virginia Tech athletic department, and will let you know if I hear back.

If true: Seismic news.

ETA: And if true, huge kudos to Beamer for announcing in plenty of time to do a good coaching search and not destroy the recruiting cycle.

So gotta ask why would a sports reporter in AZ be the one to break this?

Hmmmm, who else is in Arizona? And no, I don't mean Arians.

Love the irony.

Well damn maybe all the #sauses had legs. I guess we have to stay tuned and see if this rumor has legs.

Yea... Isn't this exactly what the insiders were saying was going to happen? He would be announcing his retirement after the Boston College game.

Normally those inside #SAUCES never go anywhere, but it looks like they got it spot on

It depends on who you listen to. I posted in another threat that if Will and Chris at TSL say it, then you can believe it. They're very good about these sorts of things.

910 AM in Phoenix? Cardinals Insider? Does that mean?

Nah, that'd be crazy

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't want him to retire. I don't think the losses are his fault. He deserves one more year.

I'd rather be golfing.

He had one more year, that was this year...as i said in January this was his chance to have that festival. And he didn't want it

You don't go through a 3 year rebuilt to have your 4th year be one more year next year. That just means one more year can be the excuse every year....like it has been

look at the team though, obviously I want to win, we have lost most games because of bad defense. 3 freshman in the secondary with no defensive end depth? A bad Mike linebacker. On offense a starting qb injury and a play caller who doesn't know what hes doing. I understand the frustration, but again, I don't think it is his fault.

At the end of the Day it's his responsibility to have a Championship Program.

Whether it's poor recruiting, poor playcalling, poor coaching up of freshman and sophomores, Head Coach has to find a way to win. Or talk to the AD about becoming a Div 2 program

This is a weird feeling. I know it's not confirmed and this has been on the horizon for a while, and I personally have been an advocate for it, but even then...wow.

I mean, I knew it was coming, so why am I crying? :(

Because you are a girly girl. And those aren't tears in my eyes... Just an allergic reaction to English beer.

Hasn't hit me yet, but when it does I'm going to be a mess.

Now that I know Beamer is actually gone this season, I want to give him a 5 year extension.

My anxieties are more on who will replace him than if the rumor is true or not.....

...That's what Maryland does.

I don't give a damn what the fans think cause, quite frankly, I know what the fans want better than they do.

I really do feel that way.
Breaks my heart that it's time.
Even more that he's actually calling it a career.

Frank Beamer will always what VT football history is all about.

Will and Chris tweeting confirmation of the "rumor." They wouldn't do that unless it were pretty solid.

I just hope Frank still loves VT and the fans... right in the feels

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

According to ESPN sources, VT officials will begin preliminary discussions with Al Golden about the impending HC vacancy job at the university.

....what?

...

That has to be the worst joke I have ever seen on TKP.

Whit said that he will talk about the coaching search after the regular season, until then I wouldn't believe anything you see. Nobody but him and people in the football department know what direction we will go.

This better be bullshit, total bullshit!!
