What a Typical VT fundamental tackle.

Pour some Beer on it

The fan definitely heard the footsteps. You can almost hear him think "Oh crap, that's someone from D-block coming, better tuck and cover."

The Dude Abides

Exum went easy on him.

Exum put him in Timeout.

The serious side of this is, the NFL released a statement Saturday about increased security at games. To me this is a serious failure of security at the venue.

He was in the library.

Col Mustard, candlestick.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I'm probably gonna get laughed at, but can someone please explain this reference?

"It might be dark outside, but it's LeDay in here." - Jay Bilas

I'm struggling to find it, but a few years ago Exum out performed another team's player on the field in some fashion. They got into a Twitter exchange and Exum simply said "You were in the library."

I'm not 22 anymore so he may have been inspired by something else, but that's where I got it.

Edit: my memory is so poor, it might not have been Twitter, maybe a press conference video. And the quote happens to be TKPer CYoung's signature (which is hindering my search efforts), so maybe he remembers.

Edit #4: after searching for "library", wouldn't surprise me if it was a reference to Georgia Tech.

Some random dude posted on Twitter something like, "Who can stop SW2?" in reference to Sammy Watkins. Exum replied, "(raises hand) #youwasinthelibrary". It means Watkins was quiet during their matchup, because he shut him down.

Increased security at the games means they are more closely monitoring who is coming in and what they are bringing in. Doing more thorough bag checks and such is different than stopping some guy from jumping a wall onto the field.

As someone who works in homeland security that is a narrow view. Field and crowd security is just as important. What ever security company had people standing on the field watching the crowd failed here, what if that man had a knife? Or even worse a body explosive?

Then it was a systematic failure from the initial point of entry. When places say they have "increased security," that's where it is. And usually it's combined with an additional police presence at the event. It doesn't mean that they have a row of guards surrounding the field. They usually end up having 1 security personnel watching over the entire section from the field. It's not difficult to shake them off or catch them distracted somewhere else. There's a lot of "what if" scenarios you can draw up, but in the end, the goal of "increased security" is to increase the scrutiny in which people at the event undergo upon entering the game. That would include stricter enforcement of what outside items are brought into the game, to include food and drink as some stadiums allow fans to bring their own, more thorough searches through bags, and possibly even metal detectors for all to pass through. The goal is always to be proactive and not reactive and you achieve that by catching it before it enters the stadium.

Yea that is the goal but a last line view HAS to be taken to limit damage. Someone getting onto a football during gameplay should NEVER happen in the NFL. Baseball, basketball harder to do with the stadium setups but the NFL should have this covered.

I see it much more frequently in MLB than NFL. So I wouldn't call it harder in baseball.

I'd love to see stats on this though, if there's anyone keeping track.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

He is saying that it is harder in baseball for security to keep fans off the field and not that it is harder for fans to get onto a baseball field.

Ah, I misread. That happens.

the firewall would've blocked it, just sayin'...

How much has Daycare seen the field this season??

He's been on the verge of starting for awhile now

I am just glad Exum made the tackle from the huddle and not the sidelines.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

I did not know he was still in the league, good on him

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Whoa this must be new! (/sarc)

Well the guy who keeps editing it I hear can be a real ahole.

He's not too bad. I just wish he'd stop pushing so hard for Rich Rod to be our next coach.

I nominate that you just use this gif whenever someone brings up RichRod instead of rehashing all of your reasons why you don't want him. It gets the point across much more efficiently.

aaand now I can't stop laughing at work. Thanks for that...
