This was a very interesting post game interview. Elliott said he is t coming back and was not at all happy with the play calling.
Urban had this to say
Meyer pointed the finger at himself for the conservative, unbalanced play calling and vowed to "get some things fixed" before another huge matchup next weekend with rival Michigan.
"No, I was not content," Meyer said. "I call a lot of plays anyways. So finger will be pointed right here. And I have to do better. We didn't -- it was very conservative."

Happened to notice both Houston and Memphis lost yesterday. Wonder how much of that was influenced by things off the field, such as offers on the table for their coaches.
Nicely done, Urban. He took a scenario that could have blown up and patched the rift by taking responsibility. There will still be a lot of chatter about this, though.
Mack Brown had a few things to say about Zeke's comments, claiming that it was a youthful mistake by Elliot and Cardale, both of which said they would definitely not be coming back next year.

The OSU meltdown over this loss has been something.
Perusing elevenwarriors last night, you would have thought Meyer was the worst coach in history. Lot of support for Elliott's comments though. Clear to me it's a young kid that is not accustomed to losing having a tough time with it, but not a good look.
The way college football is now, losing one game is the difference between making the playoffs and possibly going to the national championship, or not.
There are no mid-season "pre-season" games.

While I don't agree with him doing it the way he did, how many time in a press conference do we hear coaches across the country saying, "I'm disappointed in the effort our kids gave today?"
Whatever happened to the concept of the coaches being in charge of the team. This is simply a reflection of the world we live in having less and less respect for authority.
I completely agree with you on that. Like I said, I don't agree that he did it but when so many coaches can question a group of kids publicly, I don't think coaches should go completely unaccounted for either.

Regardless of how true Zeke's comments were, they were uncalled for.Kid has lost twice in two years. Does not know how to handle a loss. Clearly Urban does not know how to help players mature.One comment in Zeke's defense - emotions are running high after a game. Players (of all sports) are put in an uncomfortable position when interviewed immediately after a game. I'm sure these comments would not be made if he was not interviewed until the following morning. Still, Urban needs to teach his kids to be a bit more grounded.EDIT: watched the full interview. So, if we were to get Herman and Cardale Jones decides to become a graduate transfer, would you be interested in the possibility of him in a Hokie uniform? I know, I know it's a long shot, but if we do get Herman and he decides that he isn't going to get drafted where he wants (likely) he may seek to transfer elsewhere, and I could easily see why he would want to play under Herman again.

Wow, that would be a really bad move. His draft stock has to be pretty bad after this year. Had he left after last season's NC run, I bet some NFL GM would've taken him with a late 1st or 2nd round pick.

I know, but once he gets his scouting report back he may change his mind. I don't see him going any higher than 4th or 5th round at this point. He could benefit from going to a school where he knows he could start and dominating for one year, then his stock would be high again.

As long as he came here to play school as well, I would be okay with it. He's definitely talented, and it seems like Herman knows how to get the best out of him as a player. Some of the things he's said show a little bit of immaturity at times. But if Herman is our guy, and there was mutual interest between he and Cardale, I could get onboard with it if he would be the best option for us at QB next year.
No. I don't want a revolving door at QB. If Herman is as good as advertised, imagine how he could prepare and develop Lawson and Jackson. I will take 5+ solid years of well developed QB play and downstream recruiting benefits over one hot name who will jump ship as soon as his stats are good enough.
This is where I am it, while the idea may sound enticing, I think Lawson could do great things under Herman and having Jones for just one year may disrupt that possibility.
I definitely understand and mostly agree here, but I think about how Russell Wilson turned out for Wisconsin in that one year. Lawson is a great talent, but he's largely an unknown at this point given how little we have seen him. Who knows, if Herman is our guy, he might not even be interested in Cardale. But if he was, I'm sure he would have good reason for it. Would you rather have an very inexperienced Lawson or a 5th year SR, national champion-winning Jones at QB when we line up against UT in Bristol?
Regardless, I'm definitely eager to see how Lawson develops this offseason and if he can seize the starting job. He and Herman could do great things.

ESPN writer made a great point (shocking, I know) that OSU seems less like a team and more like a collection of guys waiting to hear their name called in the draft. They need to get over that quick or the D they play next week will eat them up.
I was just over at 11W and there was a lot of negativity on the boards, to be expected after that display of ineptitude of offensive coordination. If they lose to TTUN next week, it'll be full on meltdown. I, for one, am expecting it after what we're seeing out of the players postgame.
Last year, I think OSU played really well as a team, but the NC may have changed priorities for some of them. At this point, it's time to get some of those guys out the door and bring up the next batch of five stars.
They seem to have lost a lot of cohesion on offense after Herman left. Couple that with the fact that they've had the media and their fans blowing smoke up their tails the whole past year about how they are the greatest team ever, and how no one can beat them, and it's no surprise to me that some egos and entitlement have developed with that team.
This is one big reason it's hard to win 2 years in a row. Losing their lone deep threat didn't help either.

After watching both Pete Carrol and Urban Meyer (twice now) create juggernauts that end up imploding on themselves, I become more impressed with Saban's ability to hold together a ship with all 5-star guys.
I'm not saying I like Saban, just it makes you realize how hard it is to not let the program grow bigger than your authority once you start winning championships.
I think Saban runs that program with an iron fist.

I am not going to say he should say that, but his point was well said. What Urban said was also well done putting the loss on himself. Kind of refreshing to not get the cliche answers after a loss. While he said he is leaving the program after the season it shows that he did care about that loss and not say something like whatever because I'm out of here anyway.
I can't figure out how you give the best player on your offense just 2 carries in the 2nd half. I'm not sure what was going on there.
The offense looked a lot like Tech's offense when we played Pitt. Motley up the middle, Motley up the middle, and now it's 3rd and long.
I watched some highlights and listened to the game a bit, the runs he got MSU was just stuffing him even in goaline situations.

Wasn't he in the hospital for three days last week? It seems Urban's offense is regressing back to what it was at UF. Hermann is the one the made it what it was, his loss can't be understated. Don't shoot me, but I think Herman could make lefty's offense work.
He can make nearly every offense work, but I would prefer for him to pick his OC if he is the next VT coach though.
Elliot reminds me of Kellen Winslow, just with more talent.
They did the same thing against MSU in the Big 10 champ game with Carlos Hyde. 4 th and 1 and Braxton tried to be the hero and gets stuffed. Hyde had been running downhill all day.
