Fuller 'As good as gone'

According to ESPN, Fuller will be going to the draft this year and wont play his senior year at tech. I was expecting it but I was still hopeful he'd come back.

Kendall Fuller (CB, Virginia Tech): His junior season was cut short by an injury, but perhaps that's all the more reason to leave. Add in the fact that there will be a coaching change at Virginia Tech and Fuller's status as Kiper's No. 3 corner in this year's draft and No. 14 overall on his big board, and he's as good as gone.

I don't think he would. First round talent last year, this year, and next year. If TG stays that would be beneficial to him. Three brothers in the NFL no need for money to leave early. Plus I'm sure mama Fuller wants her youngest to get a degree. My question is Kendall may get a good draft grade but essentially he has only played two years for us. So would teams question his durability?

I'd love for him to stay- but I think it was pretty much a lock that he was gone. Most of VT's kids are usually close to graduating at the end of their junior year anyway because of taking summer classes.

To me, any kid who gets a first round grade who doesn't come out (unless you just don't care about being an NFL player) is making a mistake. Get paid to live your dream, and be smart. When you get that first signing bonus, the first thing you should do is take enough to cover tuition, room, and board to finish school and put it in a savings account. Then enjoy your career.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Then you put almost the entire rest of it into the care of a trustworthy wealth management company and allow them to invest your money. With an NFL 1st round signing bonus, you could easily generate a monthly income without eating into your base investment to never have to work a day again for the rest of your life, no matter how quickly your NFL career is cut short.

Or you could buy a 3 million dollar house and 10 cars and be back where you were in high school after 5 years......just saying there are options. /s

Hate it, but very understandable.

Yeah...I was really hoping he would stay...

Thanks for the reality check.

HokieHarris13 (and everyone else), please link and cite original articles and reports. More often than not, the 247Sports' Bolts are repackaged clickbait. I updated the original post to link to the actual ESPN article and quoted the section on Fuller.

Also, this isn't a report. It's the author's, David M. Hale, opinion on the matter (which very well may be true).

Gotcha, I'll keep that in mind. I'm on my phone so I was having some trouble figuring out what I was doing. Haha thanks for editing it though!

Appreciate you sharing the info. You can find the original report or article by clicking the link in the bolt.

This tweet confuses me. Wouldn't he only participate in senior day as a junior if he was expecting to not come back. But it says he's not participating and expected to go pro. Seems like senior day is now a completely irrelevant portion of this tweet.

Regardless, the only way he stays is if his grade comes back lower than expected.

I believe the question was poised by the media to Tech as to whether they would allow Kendall to participate in Senior Day since he is leaving, even though he is not a senior. The answer came back 'No'.

I mean.... New head coach who will be implementing a whole new system and you currently don't know who your defensive coordinator will be next year. If he's leaning towards leaving, can you really blame him? Its the smart career move.

to be honest if your a first round draft pick it's always the smart move.

Which is exactly what F Beamer would be telling him regardless of whether he retired this year or not. He's on record as saying he always tells guys to leave if they're a 1st round lock.

Would love if he unexpectedly comes back in 2016, but I never expected him to stay at Tech beyond 3 years no matter what happened here (redshirt or not, injury or not, coaching change or not). Wishing him all the best at the next level!

What's latest on his health? Is he good to go for NFL workouts or combine? Or one of the bowls?

I will be very happy for him, when he goes in a high round this April.

Is it just me or were they the fastest 3 years ever?

If he can't perform at combine, then the knee may be viewed as a problem (given description, he should be rehabbed by combine). NFL teams will assess all of this stuff. Praying for the kid, that his knee is ready. If it ain't I think he comes back.

I'm very excited for him. I expect him to be a hell of a pro.

So what year will the next Fuller get to Blacksburg?

2034 is the earliest we could

I mean, I would love for Kendall to be headed to Carolina next year to play alongside Josh Norman.

But I am pretty sure he's not going to be available with the final pick of the 1st round.

Does Carolina own the Pats 1st rounder?

Would love to see Kendall in DC, back home opposite Breeland..............I'm sure he will be available when the Skins pick...............

And we really need a secondary. I'd love to see him in burgundy and gold.

Plus his family can easily buy an insurance policy on him. He may be back.

Mama Fuller didn't raise no fool. Make that money while you can, Kendall. Come back to college when your playing days are over, if needs be. Parking that Bentley in the commuter lot...

If only we had another Fuller to play for us, a fifth one per se...
