My guess Jimbo Fisher rebuffed their overtures.

Good decision. They currently have the number one recruiting class in the country. Firing him would have been a mistake.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Dear lord, after this bungling who would want to deal with that mess in the future

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

After seeing how the LSU AD handled the situation, it makes me even more grateful that we have Whit and how he handled Frank's retirement.

Still better than the Illinois AD who basically said hiring the interim coach was basically the best of the worst options they have and that at least he won't kill the program.

Yep, both LSU and Illinois are about to get destroyed by the media. In fact Danny Kanell said last night that if he were to grade how LSU handled the situation on a scale of 1-10 he would give them a -2.

I knew it was all a bunch of fluff to put pressure on him to win the Texas A&M game, who pays $15M to buyout a good coach?

What kind of message does that send to any potential coaches they try to get?

Come Coach at LSU finish 8 - 3 and a pitchfork mob will come for your head.

He sounded pretty intransigent regarding offensive change. I am guessing pretty much like how our HBC must have sounded ten years ago. I don' t think LSU had a choice. I am not convinced Les is gonna change. I think if they really had the money they would have sacked him.

You can be sure they didn't want to mess with their #1 incoming class. You can be equally sure every coach going against them will refer to Miles as a short timer.

Good. That makes sense in this crazy world of college football.

The older I get, the better I was...Go Hokies!!!

Worst part of this whole thing - the school is flirting with bankrupcy, there's damaged buildings (still unfixed) all over campus, and boosters want to pay $15 mil to exchange the 5th best coach in college football for the 4th best coach in the country (but they are unwilling to help the university). Recently discussed on reddit with some current students, they were furious about it (understandably so).

This is, thus far, my second favorite thing in the coaching carousel world this year. Did they not think that, of all people, Les Miles wouldn't have a thing or two hidden under his hat for the last second? Silly admins.

I enjoy the Mad Hatter and I'm glad he's staying at LSU. If they don't replace the athletic administration, they're nuts.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

This thing was handled very poorly by the LSU administration.

Apparently they only made the decision to keep him part easy through the third quarter of yesterday's game

You have to assume that this was ESPN's and other media member's faults as well. They didn't just fan the rumor flames; they dumped gasoline on it.

Boy, the office Christmas party is gonna be awkward this year......
