Ok. Works for me.
Wish he would have added "Take me for instance. I am an average QB and Fuente helped make me RICH"
The praise for Fuente just keeps coming, which is awesome to see. I do think his hire in many ways has already changed how people view VT (both as a program and as a destination for coaches) and he has been here like 3 days, really quite a remarkable thing to see.
Honestly, and maybe I am the only one that feels this way, but it feels like our current 6-6 record is already a relic of a distant pass. Perhaps just the joy of watching Frank and the boys win on Saturday, coupled with how quicjly our awesome AD moved to make this happen.
Fuente could have done magic with Logan Thomas.
He would have made him a dynamic TE! /s
Logan is a QB who could also play TE. Beamer made the right decision switching LT to QB. He throws a great ball. With good WRs to catch his balls, LT is an elite QB 100%.
Who MIGHT have also been able to play TE...
He would have been drafted as a quarterback in the NFL. Wait...
Ain't it the truth. Logan made the NFL as a quarterback. That's a fact. It's a crime that we didn't have better records while he was here.
We have a new fan with lots of money. Send this man a Hokie Club invite.
That's certainly high praise. But keep in mind Tom Brady had nothing but things to say about Loeffler.
Was thinking the same thing. Chad Henne also had high praise for Leoffler. And I believe they were correct, he is a good/great QB coach. Unfortunately, his record as an OC is more mixed....
You're not wrong, but let's just remember when Bucky, Travon, Ford, Phillips, Rogers, etc are running around making plays next year that they didn't just spring out of holes in the ground in Lane.
Given what Loeffler had to work with, I'd say he did a hell of a job.
Every OC gets second guessed on his play calls!
I do not have a simplified "the offense is bad, so I hate Loeffler" mentality. My view is more nuanced than that. I've stated before how much I respect his play design and situational play calling ability. His greatest shortcomings come from play to play game flow play calls, going away from who's hot. It's like he calls all the right plays in the wrong order. Additionally, the execution errors are on him. If the team can't execute all your schemes, simplify things. It's the adjustments he wasn't able to make that sunk him. He'll have a job somewhere, and he may be an OC again, his issues are very fixable.
He was much too complicated for my taste.
Brewer and Ford had that great TD hook-up in the LOLUVA game, and we hear they haven't run that play since the summer!? Because all the other plays were working so well?
I have some things to say about him too.
Very kind words from a professional in the sport. IMHO he is a very 'meh' quarterback, but he is still a professional that should know a thing or two about offenses. And while I'm not a fan of his, that was very nice of him to say.
