LOLUVA found a new head coach? Unconfirmed

Out of left field it seems that UVA may have taken Bronco Mendenhall from BYU. Thoughts? Virginia names BYU's Bronco Mendenhall head coach

It's been confirmed. UVA tweeted it about 10 minutes ago.

Thanks, honestly I posted a crappy link from my phone. I really was eager for those Turkey Legs.

At least the man is honest.

Probably the best hire they could have realistically made at this point. Great job by Tubby Littlepage pulling this one out of his rear.

The Battle for the Commonwealth Cup may have just gotten real.

Agreed, I didn't really see that coming and I'm not sure how much I like it.

Just another coach that will lose to us.

Bronco is a really good hire...his teams play tough and gritty.

PDXHokie

Tough and gritty and UVA are not to mix, don't you know. Daddy would disapprove!

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

yes "gritty"

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

Let's not forget context, his teams at BYU consisted of a lot of grown ass Mormon men with families.

Fuente beat him last year, so precedent is on our side.

NOOOO

A coach named after a horse? Hmmmm. I'll wager our horse is still better....

I would root for the Russians before I would root for Virginia.

Lola > Bronco

I guess I'll have to put in more time in the weight room.

This is a fantastic hire for LOLUVA. Bronco far exceeds my expectations for LOLUVA. I thought they'd hire John Q Doe, OC from Directional U. This is not good news for us.

BUT...we are #EnFuente. We'll be ok. I'll trick the LOLStable into believing that beer drinking is a legit training strategy. Stone Ruination will make you victorious! #8.5%

I hope that VT beats that Bronco like a rented mule.

Pretty sure I'm in the minority but I would love for Fuente to throw some shade at him and the Hoos right now.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

"Exit light..."

I'll consider that a valid confirmation of the reports coming out of Charlottesville...

"Exit light..."

They managed to change that, but there's still this gem further down:

to the heart of cygnus' fearsome force we set our course

You!

Ironic, I posted this on a different thread a few weeks ago, speculating who our next coach would be:

Don't think it will be any of those...but one name no one has mentioned, is Bronco Mendenhall.

I think that for VT, Fuente was the better move.

But they're both pretty good hires.

Pretty big meh

Don't have much to say. BYU hasn't exactly been a great program under him, but they could have been worse. Expect much of the same out of the Hoos going forward

I'd say BYU overachieved with him as coach, and I suspect his 'crootin' ability is better than "meh." Remains to be seen how he'll go over in the 757, DMV, and Richmond. But I think he'll certainly be able to sell that program to kids who can play, whether they're from VA or not.

They benefited from a bunch of very weak schedules. In his time at BYU they were 6-14 against ranked teams, with half the wins coming in one season. I have a feeling UVa might regret this one.

Part of me hopes you're right. But part of me wants them to be relevant in football again so that when VT crushes them it means something outside the state of Virginia.

I thought Bronco Mendenhall was perfect for BYU. A guy born and raised in Utah. Went to college in Utah. Was a DC and DB coach at BYU, then moved up to head coach. Plus he's a Mormon so there's the religious connection to BYU.

I'm not sure why he'd leave BYU for UVA, it felt like a nice marriage.

Let's not have a do-over of this.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Things got chippy right before the 2014 game.

I remember that from the stands. The UVA players totally instigated it, ran right over and started talking.

Like many VT players have said before, that's all the ever do. Chirp, chirp, and then chirp some more and always end up losing. Hopefully that remains the same.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Don't forget the nut punches thrown and dirty as hell dives at the knees from this season.

Lmao lost the game and got their asses kicked in a postgame fight.

I'm just going to say from the looks of BYU's #12 it looks like them Tennessee boys showed em what fer

BYU benefits from having older kids play for them. I think this makes their teams have a huge advantage with players two years older, and that won't be the case at uva

West Virginian by birth, Hokie by choice

I have to admit, I'm really happy they didn't get Richt.

I worry about UVa for in-state recruiting, but UVa and UNC worry me more in terms of the ACC Coastal.

Who knows, though. This will certainly be interesting.

Adding to the chaos.

Great hire for the Hoos.

We came out of this clear winners in the coaching roulette this year, and you could make a great case for us being clear winners nationally.

Ain't scared of what the others did. We get rolling, they won't be able to keep up.
