David M. Hale posted a solid story on Justin Fuente's coaching style and shared some terrific stats.
Why Justin Fuente is the ideal hire at Virginia Tech... pic.twitter.com/iubCAoTGN6— David Hale (@DavidHaleESPN) December 10, 2015
"He's a natural teacher," Johnson said. 'He just connects with kids. He gets it that everybody learns differently. He's just got a great demeanor and a great accessibility with those guys, and it's manifested itself in where he is right now."
"He's one of the best coaches I've ever had," Pachall said. "He'd meet with me before and after meetings on special things to further my knowledge, just to make sure I was on the same page. He took the time to help me develop as a quarterback."

Every day I like the Fuente hire a little more.
Me too and as I stated before the hire he was way down on my wish list. I have a great feeling about him and am def 100% supportive of him.
He was a solid #2 on my list but with each passing day I find myself wondering why the heck I didn't have him at solid #1. Lets just say that I'm really glad Whit is our AD instead of me. I think you all should be thankful for that.
j/k
I understand you wanting to take a shot at Charlie Weis. Nothing wrong with that.
National Championship... next year... must.... resist.... urge... to believe....
78 TDs, holy poo poo
I'm actually curious about this stat. Does it include the 2012 season (LT3's Junior season)? If so, then VT has 76 from 2012-2015 which is almost exactly the same. I wonder if that's why Hale didn't include it in his info-graphic.
Even so 76-60 TD-INT looks a whole lot worse than 78-21 or 78-27
Dat completion percentage, dose yards, dem touchdowns
/\Only the best Nicktoon ever! /\
They still play it late night sometimes on Teen Nick.
What is this Teen Nick you speak of?
I just recently discovered it one night surfing. They show Doug,
Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, etc. I
loved all of these shows growing up. I wonder if they will bring
back Snick. :) BTW its Comcast channel 133 for me.
Finding and subscribing to this channel take precedence over Thursday Night Football tongiht. Thanks AMB!
Hope you get it! It's pretty fun to watch these shows
after all these yrs. :)
I respectfully disagree.
I'm on your side, Quailman.
I would say that in a few years we'll be the bull in the Coastal division china shop, but we weren't the only school to make a good hire (Miami being the other). Either way, the future is bright
FUENTE'S OFFENSE:

60 INTs since 2012...106th in the country.
I think any coach in the country not named Stevie Wonder could improve on this, but I am hopefully he can out scheme Stevie.
Those stats are incredible. At one place, okay, but two? Helping relatively mid-tier QB recruits to those types of numbers and becoming top NFL prospects is amazing. We don't want, we need the hat trick!

Love it! Who comes up with this stuff? Amazing.
Going to go with Dan Deentremont. Can't recall where I saw that name, but yeah, definitely Dan.
Maybe it's my age, and having to suffer through that movie, but this is my favorite gif of all time. Just connects in ways I cannot explain. Julie Andrews casually emptying the clips in a pair of Mac-10s...perfect.

Well it's a perfect match. VT has lots of QB on the roster that need Fuente to whisper in their ears. Hopefully they can execute what they heard from the whisperer .
Does this success come from running a spread offense with the good QBs/WRs/coaching staff as a given? Does it also require an O-line that is several steps above what we've been used to lately? Or can it happen with what we will have both already here and what we have in the pipeline? Assuming CJF will succeed here too, what's the best guess on how long it will take? I'd be happy with some measurable improvement in year 1 & maybe in year 2 & then lights out in 3. To have Whit, Buzz & now CJF/Bud on staff now has gotten the juices bubbling again for me. It feels more than wishful thinking these days.
And I've seen comments on the Sabre about how we "didn't win the lottery" hiring Fuente, and how they took their time and got the best coach, etc... All I can say is let's see how it feels when we're looking at 13 years of holding the Commonwealth Cup, and counting. Honestly, I expect loluva to get slightly better for a couple of years, maybe make a bowl, but then they'll start to slide again. Bottom line; Bronco won't last 10 years there.
Nearly every article I've read about this year's coaching carousel says we made the top hire, but they can believe what they want.
We'll still have the cup.
