Just read this over at Campus Rush in today's SI. Hope this isn't already posted. Enjoyed the article, as it reinforced what a class act Frank Beamer is.
Good luck Saturday. Beat Tulsa!

Fantastic article! Got me all in tears again over our beloved ball coach....it's been said over and over and over again...but one last time. Thank you Frank, we will miss you!!!
Those darn onions...
I managed to hold it together until that line. I'm going to miss that man so much!
Like with so many things in his career, Beamer handled his retirement in the right way. He announced before the end of the season, and gave VT the opportunity to attract Justin Fuente as the new football coach. Once again, he put VT football first. It also made the end of the season a celebration of Beamer's career, even if that wasn't his intent or expectation.
I'm glad to see he's getting some positive media treatment.
Great read about a great man.
OK, ya got me, Frankie. When he first became coach, I used to write him letters to show support and appreciation, letters he invariably answered. Once, he got me mixed up with someone else and wrote me a great thank you note for a bushel of apples someone had sent him. I wrote him back to correct the record, and he wrote again, still expressing his gratitude for my being a fan who cared enough to write. I wrote for the last time begging him not to move to North Carolina, promising never to bother him again if he would stay. I think I'm about to break that promise and write him one more time.
Thanks for posting this article. It was just a perfect way to tell the story of a great career. Pass the Kleenex, honey.
Pillar of all things that were "right" through the evolution of America's greatest game imo.
great great great article
I'm not as in tune with most other fanbases, but I can all but guarantee that the vast majority of coaches out there won't be as fondly remembered as men as Frank Beamer will be.
This line did it for me...
Ha! Yeah, that was a good one. Thanks for posting it.
