The Daily News published a recent profile on 2016 early enrollee DE Jimmie Taylor. The Southwest (Jacksonville, NC) standout's senior season was cut short with a broken hand.
"I landed wrong on my hand. I thought I just jammed it so I kept going. I didn't even bother to tape it up or nothing like that. I played the rest of the game. Then I let my dad see it and he noticed my hand was swollen like a baseball mitt so he took me to the ER and they said it was broke. Then the doctor said I was done for the season," Taylor said.
Taylor discussed how Frank Beamer's retirement affected his recruitment, his goal to see the field as a true freshman, and new Hokies' head coach Justin Fuente.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Taylor said he had spoken with Beamer's replacement, Justin Fuente, who came to Virginia Tech from Memphis.
"He said he was going to tweak the offense a little bit," Taylor said. "But he said everything I fell in love with when I picked Virginia Tech is still going to be there. He loves to work hard like I do. So we're going to have a good time."

Wants to major in mechanical engineering, that will be tough. It could work out well if he red shirts and does ME over 5 years, otherwise that will be a packed 4 years. Glad he is bringing those goals and ambition to Tech!
May be moved to linebacker?? That really caught my eye. We have moved middle linebackers to defensive end but has it ever gone the other way? All of that film clip was play as a hand in the ground DE.
Seriously, our situation at LB is absolutely dire. Need some help there desperately
Well Trey still has a year...
[High-tails it outta here]
Hear me out! How hyped would he be to create the first set of three brothers to play in the same lineup? He can hit, we know this. He's buried at RB, we know this, too.
What about Carson Lydon?
That first highlight looks awfully familiar after yesterday.
Quick first step and a heavy shoulder. He could be a real contributor in a couple of years.
