Called shot: Stroman's punt return

On last week's top head scratchers of 2015 when some wondered why he wasn't replaced,
I said he'd take one back in bowl...nailed it

Reaction when Stroman housed it: yep, instaboner
hhhhhnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggggg
I meant this as a positive reaction, NOT negative.

How could getting a boner while watching football ever be a negative thing?

Nah, it's nothing. Just some goober that took it the incorrect way and downlegged it.

This needed a whole thread?

Why comment if you think it doesn't need one?

He didn't say it didn't deserve a comment, it just didn't deserve a thread /s

Need a thread to comment on it.

Why comment in response to a comment that didn't need to be made about a thread that didn't need to be made? Checkmate! /s

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Stroman did well this game but he has been mediocre for the majority of the season as the punt returner.

Even Knowles returned a kick for a TD.

I do think Stroman has potential as a returner, I dont know if he is our best though.

He is a legitimate punt returner, you're beyond the "potential" aspect when you've broken several long ones and have returned one for a touchdown. Many teams don't even have a guy who can take one back, period. He runs backwards sometimes, so did most of the great ones.

Sometimes?
He has solid punt return hands, for sure. Props to him for that.

If you want a slow, possession guy back there to get 5-8 yards every return then that's your personal view on it and that's okay. I'll take the really fast maverick who can make a big play from time to time to energize the team. Also, his hands have been excellent, and losing 5-10 yards is way better than muffing a punt.

Yep, he's reliable hands-wise with the home run potential. He's tried too much occasionally but he's also set us up nicely (BC, Purdue this year and OSU AND bowl game last yr come to mind). He's also saved us a LOT of yardage by sure-handedly scooping up tough bouncing rugby style kicks before they rolled another 15-20 yds. Lots of teams struggle just CATCHING punts (UVA has been one)

My "Sometimes?" comment was that he goes E-W and backwards way too much. I am agreeing with you. I just wanted to point out that he has great hands for the PR position.
