Somebody help a brother out -- what's the deal with all the TD celebration "jogging in place" I'm seeing this bowl season. What does it mean and/or where did it come from?

Trying to get more cardio in.
They call it "running off the plug twice"....it comes from some rap song and makes absolutely no sense. But then again the celebrations recently really don't. I miss the days when celebrations were creative and entertaining.

The old Merton Hanks celebration. I thought I read that he came up with that while watching Sesame Street with his child or something.
Another thing that really bothers me -- why did Bucky get flagged for 15 yards in the 2014 OSU win, when I see tons of player TD celebration going on across college football this season?

To be honest Buckys was pretty flagrant. Even I who was out of my mind losing it when he scored immediately was like "Knock it off, just hand the ref the ball"

Absolutely Bucky's was pretty flagrant. What I'm asking is why the many many others I've seen in NCAA this season haven't been called. I'd simply like to see some consistency by the zebras.

Bucky got flagged because after the celebration he threw the ball towards he sideline and didn't give it to the referee. Kind of dumb if you ask me but a rule none the less.
I remember one game one Tech's other DBs scored a pick 6, then Antonio Banks ran to the EZ and started dancing. Got penalized, but awesome, funny and well worth it.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had no idea what this was. When Isaiah Ford did it on his TD, I didn't think much of it. Then Stroman did it after his punt return and thought maybe it was just something our guys started doing during bowl practice. And then it seemed like every player in every game the last few days was doing it. I finally broke down during the USC-Wisconsin game the other night and consulted Google.
Some more info here. Still don't understand why it suddenly became popular, but I was getting very sick of the dab, so I'll take it.
I wish the NFL and NCAA would just let them showboat/celebrate however they want without penalization. They work their asses off for the whole week, and if they score on game day, then let them celebrate and have fun with it. You don't like it? Don't let them score.
I don;t mind after TD's but in the NFL its every play. A defensive guy makes a play he goes over the top, a WR makes a play same deal. Gets old. After a TD, I can see it though.
oh yea I agree, I was mainly just referring to TD's celebrations... but yea the whole over the top celebrations for a sack or first down, etc is a little annoying and childish
I agree, for touchdowns, let the Monmouth bench players design some TD dances.
Did you see the one last season where the 2 defensive players were celebrating a sack and were too busy to get back to their side of the LOS.
I'm already tired of this celebration and it's only been 1-2 weeks that I've noticed people doing it. But with bowl week this week, it seems most of the celebrations on every play and score is this thing in approximately 25+ games between College and NFL.
In other news, what gave me the ultimate eye roll today was Zeke Elliot's belly shirt demonstration after his touchdown today. His last way to say screw the NCAA who made the rule this year (most likely due to him last year) that the player has to play with his jersey down.
Oh, I didn't know they'd made that a rule. I only knew I was seeing a lot less of it (and thank goodness for that, I'm not a fan)
