I am anxious to see how the first year goes. Here is hoping for a great one.
I have no idea what the surgery is for. Hopefully this doesn't mean that the Hokies will be so shorthanded in the secondary that guys will play out of position in the spring. Chuck Clark looked uncomfortable all season as a deep safety and his lack of time in that role (he played corner in the spring due to injuries) may have contributed to that lack of comfort.
If only we had some insider info into Mook's life. I thought he looked great out there this year want to see him healthy.
FWIW 247 saying nothing serious
Just FYI, there is a person who posts here who has a 100% positive reputation when discussing Mook's insider info
I thought Shockwave got banned?
unfortunately... Shockwave told it like it is. Sometimes a "glass is half empty" kind of person is necessary to keep unwarranted optimism in check.
The stuff about Shockwave was posting the links to paysites and only the links and then arguing with the mods about site rules. Not about his glass half empty attitude.
Shockwave told it like
it issomebody else with no substantiated source told it behind a paywall with zero accountability and shoved it down everyone's throat as the gospel of all #saucesyeah... sigh.... really miss that guy
Was I not here for this fiasco. ...guess I missed the wave...
..I'm staying.
Ok it's been almost 5 days, anyone know what this was about yet?
Tech hired the right man! I hope they can bring in some more big time recruits before signing day!
Do we lead the ACC in total offense yet?
yes.. We are all tied for first

I just realized where Perrantes gets his ideas for hairstyle...
Favorite comment of the year so far
I mentioned it in the UVA thread and got:
"-Just give me the Marge Simpson
-Say no more fam."
It was my favorite reply.
I believe Fuente's first day was actually Monday. His first Staff meeting was yesterday:
But yeah Justin Fuente is officially our head coach now.
Our conference room seems to be stuck in 2004.
And that computer.
Dat table....
Yeah, "stuck in 2004" might be a little generous. The wishbone hasn't really been in style since the 80s.
Wishbones come from turkeys > the turkey is Virginia Tech's mascot > Virginia Tech is the best school in the country > this table is the best table in the country. Logic.
I can stomach the table, it's what the coaches do in the field that counts! and our hopes/expectations are high!
That's why we need more Hokie Club members.
If that's our biggest problem, we don't have any problems.
I think I'd deal with an old conference room too if I was head coach and got all expenses paid at Blacksburg Country Club and two vehicles.
BCC is also very much stuck in 2004. Maybe 1994.
Um, Blind Carbon Copy is very useful today. s/
Next facility upgrade will be too make the conference room look like FIFA's.
Did no PR person tell them this looks like an evil lair?
Hahaha! It really does!!
Yea. It looks like a Bond Villain meeting room. Some trap door opens and sharks with freakin laser beams attached to their heads are waiting below.
The Axis of Evil?
Exactly what VT needs, IMO.
Well if the shoes fits, ya know.
..wait, this is seriously their conference room? I thought it was a joke.
It is their conference room. No joke.
I'm sure the conversation went more like "Mr. Blatter, what would you like the conference room to look like"
"An evil lair."
"But wouldn't that harm the image of FIFA"
"You mean more than institutionalizing corruption, condoning class warfare/modern day slavery, and holding the most popular sport in the world hostage?"
"Good point. Evil lair theme it is."
One could argue that evil masterminds design their lairs after FIFA's headquarters.
This looks like the underground bunker from Dr. Strangelove. Guess when you are corrupt as fuck and you don't pay any taxes in any country you can go big.
I thought this exact same thing! Not an evil lair, but a war room type of setup. Or the chambers for the UN Security Council or something.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!
One minute and the chairs are empty? I'd say they're late, unless they meet up elsewhere.
TKP's conference room....
First day of Fuente, and he calls a 6am meeting.
The real question is if he brought in Carol Lee Donuts...
I hope they didn't consider if they should have Carol Lee Donuts but only how many is too many.
I'm going with 6 as a good number per person (9 if you are under 18).
I brought my 9-year old nephew to Blacksburg for the UNC game to see his first ever Tech game. He proceeded to eat 7 Carol Lee donuts during the tailgate. Apparently that did not set well with his stomach, as we found out later that day...
Carol Lee Donuts - they'll get after ya.
I just realized that the "Get after ya" era is over. Obviously, we the fans will keep it alive, at least for a while. But someday we're going to have a Fuenteism.

Plus Fuenteism looks like futurama to me at a quick glance.
"It's been really fun going undefeated all these years. Let's keep doing it." -- Justin Fuente, in 2020 or so, probably.
"Now that I broke triple digits, I've made it my goal to score 1000 points and get to four digits"
I'm sure there was meaning behind the number of donuts purchased, like...
The total number of donuts purchased is equal to the goal of offensive points scored per game;
The total number of donuts remaining after the meeting should be equal to the goal of the number points per game our defense allows.
I heard that Bud ate the table right before the meeting ended. I think he wants to make a statement.
Not sure if relevant, but tables are a good source of fiber
Probably good to get some fiber after eating all that fried dough.
Aaaaand now I'm super excited. Is it September yet?
Are we sure that he isn't just pulling a Costanza and leaving the lights on so we think he's there?

So assuming that Bill Dooley held his final staff meeting the morning of the Peach Bowl it was 10,597 days between regular Staff meetings not run by Frank Beamer
isn't that almost as long as we've held the commonwealth cup?
Who runs the film projector?
ughhhhh do we have a top 5 recruiting class yet?
I bet Tom Herman would already have the top class in the nation by now /s
Jk jk but in all seriousness, I wouldnt be surprised if it came out Herman has been doing something sketchy in Houston, Im basing this solely on that weird radio show where hes arguing with the radio hosts about how he got Kyle Allen , it was so weird...For reference this article is I think where it started, also there is google, which I may or may not have used after hearing about this on the radio
From what I understand, Lopez has a history of poor reporting, and is not respected by Texas (state, not university) college football fans (at least he appears to be hated by any user on /r/CFB who has flair for any Texas school). Lopez reported a headline "Kyle Allen and Herman meet in Houston." Lopez was correct about the fact that there was mutual interest between UH and Kyle Allen (Herman recruited Allen while at OSU). However, Lopez was wrong about the "when" and "where" and "how" of it. IF Herman had actually met Allen in Houston, it would have been an NCAA violation. Herman tries to make this distinction clear, but Lopez accuses Herman of just arguing semantics. Both parties get frustrated, and neither emerges looking good.
Actually, the "meeting" took place on December 13th, which was the last day before the Dead Period. It wouldn't have been an NCAA violation.
There was never a physical meeting, only a phone conversation between Herman and Allen. So the argument between Herman and Lopez, who wrote the article, was the incorrect "facts" that there wasn't a meeting and it wasn't in Houston. Whether you classify a phone call a meeting or not, is everyone's own opinion.
So since this wasn't ever an NCAA violation, I was wondering why Herman was making such a big deal about the report. Evidently, Herman was also courting another QB recruit and that recruit asked if he met with Allen about coming to Houston. Herman told the recruit No, he has never met with Allen. The recruit then brought up the article and asked Herman if he's lying to him.
Herman maintains that he never "met" with Allen and therefore never lied to a recruit. (I would like to hear what the recruit's reaction was when Allen declared he's transferring to Houston). Why did Herman care to make such a big deal about it? Evidently, to maintain his integrity as a recruiter and so this case can't be used against him to claim that he lies to recruits.
Well heres my take on all this....are we sure Tom Herman isnt multiple people working as one person?
I give you Exibit A:

Exhibit B:

Exhibit C:

Are you sure were dealing with Tom Herman and not Tom HerMANS?
There was a pretty entertaining and publicly available post on 247 about this a little while back. It's pretty funny how different he looks picture to picture.
Wow. Listened to the audio, and Herman comes off like a jackass. Glad we didn't end up hiring him.
The team under Fuente is currently undefeated/
Bronco Mendenhall has never beaten VT, either.
May both of these statements stay true for years to come.

He's keeping the UVA coaching tradition alive.
I'll see myself out...
Sneaky underrated movie. People cast is aside because they expected the main focus to be Will.
I saw the preview, I knew the main focus was going to be on his son who can't act. I think his son has done more to harm Will Smith's career than anything Will Smith has done. He didn't do ID2 because he wanted his son to have a role.
I just saw the ID2 preview tonight before that other big movie that's out, looks good. Almost broke the speakers in the theater when the ship comes over.
I'm going to have to check this out. When I saw the "other big movie", the preview was for The 5th Wave, which also had a big ship appear. I'm skeptical.
Lol, that's AfterEarth right? That was one of the worst movies of the decade. It's RottenTomatoes score is like 10%.
I want to know if he had to set anyone straight in his first staff meeting. Like my way or the highway.
More importantly, did he keep the media waiting until the end without sending coffee and donuts? /s
Anyone else find it interesting bud and VT's posts are at the same time... 5:37am
5:37 AM and 5:57 AM
I would be very surprised if Bud is running his own social media accounts. He just doesn't seem like a guy who would take the time out to craft frequent posts. I could be wrong though.
