Frank Beamer guest at Michigan Coaching clinic

ARBOR — Now with some time on his hands, retired coaching legend Frank Beamer will be dropping in on Michigan in March.

U-M announced Wednesday that Beamer, who logged 238 wins and 23 consecutive winning seasons over the course of 29 years as Virginia Tech, will be the keynote speaker at Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Football Coaches' Clinic on May 10-12 in Ann Arbor.

Not sure what to think about this. On one hand I like to see Coach getting out there but I hate that it's at Ann Arbor with that crazy coach. Maybe he can fill them in about #itwasacatch

It makes me pause every time I hear about a Beamer doing something at a different school. It may take me longer to get used to this than I expected.

This is the initial feeling I have...
But then I realize that he's doing his own thing now. This will definitely take some getting used to.

Maybe he's on a mission, a mission to free whatever is possessing Jim Harbaugh. You know, have a private one on one about sleep overs at a teenage kids room.... Just saying.

Go Hokies!

Or maybe he'll join him at the sleepover...Bedtime is 6 PM sharp

Harbaugh probably just really wanted to have Frank over for a sleepover so they used the coaches clinic for an excuse.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

here's the flyer for the event:

Yeah I have no problem with Coach Beamer speaking wherever he wished and continuing to inspire young men.

But that poster is vomitous and needs to be destroyed.

Thought this was a funny photoshop for a second until I actually started looking at it and realized it was real...

I love that he has top billing, but it's pretty awful that they shopped his clothing so there's no VT logos.

Quick, someone photoshop a speech bubble that has him saying "Go to Virginia Tech instead!"

I think this is great for VT. What harm is he doing spreading the Virginia Tech brand? This seems like his kind of thing post retirement too. He gets to dish some knowledge and stay active. Kudos to him!

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Isnt this a clinic for other coaches and not for kids?

Yea I think some of the people commenting are missing this. Not that I would necessarily have a problem with him speaking at a camp for players depending on the context but I think a coaching clinic is awesome and it's the exact type of thing that Frank deserves to be doing at this point in his life.

Using /s is for cowards.

Frank also still has a paycheck coming for VT for the foreseeable future per his contract so it's not like he's going to be out recruiting against VT. Good on him for getting to travel on someone else's dime.

Exactly. My guess is that Frank is wearing VT gear at the camp too. It's not much, but some VT presence to dilute the B1G message is better than no presence at all.

Shouldn't it say 23 bowl games?

Not sure how last year's Military Bowl works. Frank was present, and I think the W counted for him, but Shane was technically the on-field head coach during that game. But then, too, I recall reading that Shane was teasing Kirby Smart about having a better bowl record as HC (1-0) than him, so I think maybe Shane gets the credit for that one.

good for him, i'd take a college football world tour myself, especially if they are paying.

no problem with Frank making some extra scratch

Beamer has done other clinics with coaches and even college staffs before. In fact, he taught a lot of teams about special teams which led to the changes folks have done for protection. Glad to see Beamer getting out there and sharing the wealth of knowledge he has. Hopefully he pokes at Harbaugh about the GT screw up.

Whatever he was doing there worked. Of course, I don't remember us ever playing Stanford and getting beat pretty badly in an Orange Bowl. In fact, I don't know what Beamer is thinking in this memory.

I really hope Frank starts his remarks with "I had to catch an early flight to make sure I would touch down with enough time to make it here."

Then does this.

"Exit light..."

I don't think I've seen the full clip of this before, just the snapshots that have become meme's here. That's definitely the look of a man who's thinking "You might be wearing the sweatshirt and somehow got on the sideline but I have no F'in idea who you are or what you're talking about." Frank definitely says "Well, I appreciate it, thanks"

Anybody know who the random fan is? Or can decipher what he said?

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

It's Pete Moris. I think he's saying something like "just another day at the office?"

Thanks

After that game I feel like he was saying something like, "Well, both teams tried every which way to lose it. I guess we didn't try hard enough."

Extra points for Frank if he can slip this into a coaching seminar:

"I've always had a lot of respect for Michigan. You gave us a good game in the Sugar Bowl, but the ref's handed you that game worse than your punter did against MSU."

Frank should say what a heck of a year they had last year. Beating Ohio State, winning the B1G, playing Bama in the playoff...

As a Hokie stuck in the wastelands of metro Detroit i can not take anymore asinine coverage of UofM and their circus master Harbaugh. Please make it stop.

I am thankful that the Harbaughs think enough of him to invite him to such a special event and give him top billing. Cool deal. Not a fan of the Harbaughs but happy for coach.

Life's short, If you dont do it, somebody else will.
