Something, something, 3rd offer from VT.

Something, something, Virginia Tech University

Good sized RB

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Eh, congrats on the offer.

It's Virginia Tech.

A 6-4, 220 pound RB ? Could be another Derrick Henry playing in VT uniform.

Allen Ox

You misspelled TE

Wait, wouldn't that make him a QB then?

Using /s is for cowards.

RBs that size in HS often make great LBs in college.
If we get him...like.

And.......anyone know if the "Gonzaga beat St Johns" graffiti is still on the DC side of Chain Bridge?
I always used to chuckle at that.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

I get that them saying VTU is not correct, however I'm kind over the correction posts. Not trying to be an ass, but I feel like that's just noise. 2 out of the 5 post in this thread are about that, not like the kid is going to see it and apologize and re-tweet.

I'm kind over the correction posts

seriously..I'm getting tired of seeing it too. Who really cares?....these are high school kids. Let them be.

EDIT: I'm also over the multiple offers joke...it was funny once. By about the 2nd or 3rd time it lost it's luster and now after about the 1000th time it just annoys me

Can never have too much House

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

I think the irony of the post is that House is pretty much the exact same show over and over and over again. Someone is hospitalized for some strange reason. House figures out what is wrong right away and strings along his minions while they try to figure it out. When they fail at the end he does something unconventional and ill advised but it works and the patient is saved.

I mean, as much as we love our horse on a treadmill, you would think we'd stop beating his dead cousin so often with many repetitive posts on similar topics. Add those to the "QB, you mean TE, you mean OL, you mean DL..." stuff, it grows old when it isn't at all relevant. The kid is a RB, not a QB or a TE, or a lineman.

Are you not annoyed about TE to QB jokes though? Those pop up in almost every thread no matter what.

I think it's more every single recruit thread the first comment is now "LOL VTU 1297832 OFFERS!" It's adding nothing. Look at this thread. There's one TE/QB joke. That's fine and a running joke. What we are currently doing to VTU and X many offers from VT looks something like this.

Sorry, HOAT.

It's fine, I always figure it's a donkey in the picture anyway.

Y'know, staring at the gif, the thing looks like a weird, mutated camel, donkey, horse...thing

Is that running TE/QB joke really that funny though?

Okay here's wjhat I'm saying. 5 of the main responses in this thread are the VTU or X many VT offer jokes. They bog down the discussion. The TE/QB joke, regardless of the quality of the humor, is a comment spawned off a comment about this RB's physical make up and potential to mirror the Heismann winner this year. It's easy to hide that entire thread and move on with browsing. The multiple topics that you have to hide becomes and issue. I'd be 100% fine with all the jokes on one thread (like I did up top earlier) but adding thread after thread of the same joke is what I'm referring to.

agree 100%. what is the gain expected from making fun of an underage kid that may actually play for the Hokies? let it go

It's easier at this point to officially change the schools name. We are getting a new "word mark" anyway.

Blessed and honored to have received my 3rd offer from Virginia Tech University!!

Did he not feel blessed and honored about the first two offers from us? Is that why we offered a third time?

If you ask me, if he wasn't fucking ecstatic, and on his knees screaming with joy about the first offer, then there's no way he deserves a second, much less a third.

In retrospect, maybe I should not have omitted the /s.

RB and DE? That is a hell of a combination. Be interesting to see where he would play eventually, I am guessing lots of that will depend on how much he grows his senior year...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I think at 6-4, 220, I would say there's no chance he ends up at RB.

Love your sig. Change "served in" to "worked for" and that's me, and damn proud of it.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner would beg to differ. Whether he's a RB in our system or not, Henry proved that the big bruiser can also put up serious numbers. Henry was 6'3" and 240 lbs coming out of high school. He ran a 4.72 40.

Henry was one of the most dominant high school players in the country though (and if you believe espn, of all time).

Yes, this is true. But my point is that size does not indicate talent at a certain position. Henry coming out of high school was a scary, scary player. He was a men among boys. When we kicked off the season against Alabama and he was a true freshman, he scared me more than any other player when I saw his film, even though he only got 2 carries for -3 yards.

Can't take credit for it, that was JFK.

Virginia Tech University, dies he really know who we are? He's from the DC area, right? It's not like we are a school from the other coast.

Regarding his films, it look like the opponents frequently left him unblocked. He did have a good eye for where the ball was.

I'm getting worried about the Virginia Tech University trend - earlier this week pretty sure I heard NPR use this after interviewing some economics professor.

I doubt it's a trend, but the PR people need to be on top of this with media entities. We have formal guidelines; any entity that wants to generate content or revenue via reference to VT needs to adhere to those guidelines.

I agree with the above posts; FFS stop ragging on these kids regarding the university name. They don't know. They're kids, and they have no formal, written offer because we can't send them one so they haven't seen the school's name in writing. They've probably never been to VT's website. They see "VT" on ESPN crawlers and box scores, and they assume they're doing the formal thing by adding "University" to the end of it; frankly I assume it's because they're trying to show us respect. Freshman orientation will correct that. The "joke" is tired and is now just foolish, as is parsing their grammar. We have some running jokes around here, but these are a couple that just need to die because they've never been really funny and you're just nitpicking on some poor kid.

"Exit light..."

Hey guys, I thought of this really funny joke. So you know how all these recruits say things like:

"I got my third offer from Virginia Tech today!"

Well, what if that meant something like:

"Virginia Tech offered me for the third time today, they really like me!"

Wouldn't that be funny? Get it? You could interpret the first statement as the second! Hahaha!

Okay, we done now?
