Today is the 2016 VT Pro Day. A time for guys not invited to the combine to show off for the NFL scouts and for guys who were injured and not ready for the Combine, Fuller, to show he still has it.

For the first time in years the event is open to the media so a lot of information will be coming out. Also follow along with the VT Twitter accounts and VT snapchat account.

What's the advantages/disadvantages of having the Pro day open to the media? I'm just trying to understand why Beamer never did it but Fuente is open to it.
I think a big advantage is exposure for the program, it's players and the great Beamer Barn.
It's certainly not a bad idea to advertise that you have NFL scouts/front office personnel interested in your program's talent to donors, fans, recruits, etc.
This just leads me to still question why Beamer never did this. In years past, it felt like VT was the only school who closed Pro Day to the media, and no one ever really stated why. So what was Beamer's purpose?
I thought that Weaver decided to never broadcast them but I don't remember why. My guess is that when Whit came in Beamer and him were fine with just keeping that status quo for the short term since there were much bigger issues with the program.
I'd bet Whit has as much, if not more, to do with this than does Fuente.
My (uniformed) guess is that when Frank first got here, Pro Day wasn't near the spectacle it is now. Should he have opened it up later in his career? Probably. But things were working out pretty well for Frank, so my guess is he just didn't think a change was necessary.
This sounds plausible.
Ummm why isnt Brewer's name up there? What would he have to lose throwing the ol' pigskin around
AFAIK, he has no intentions of declaring for the draft. I think he's going straight into coaching.
3 top things NFL scouts look for in a QB - height, arm strength, injury history.
Unfortunately Brewer is just not right for the NFL, but I hope he does really well coaching.
Soooo then who is throwing the ball around out there to the recievers and DB's. It can't be an underclassman can it. Not like Evan's is out there throwing to the guys. I mean yea a coach could be doing it but wouldnt they want to see a real QB throw to them instead of some 50 year old with a bum shoulder.
I mean even if he isn't declaring for the draft he can throw the ball right? Like he wouldn't be on the list because he isn't trying to get drafted, but he would still be there throwing.
Apparently they decided to go with a Falcons scout over an unknown who has been doing pretty well in the flag-football leagues around town but just fell through some of the cracks. He would have come in, made some throws, caught the eye of one scout, after a few more throws, all of a sudden, hes the one getting attention, scouts start asking questions, he starts throwing some pretty, pretty nice corner routes, next thing he knows, all of the scouts are watching him and hes getting invites to come to some teams practices, hes the cinderella story of the draft, gets picked up in the first round......long story short hes the top grossing Disney movie winter 2036.
But they went with Jeff, the Atlanta Scout...
Speaking of which has anyone heard him connected to any GA positions anywhere?
JC Coleman putting up some "should have invited me to the combine numbers"
40: 4.44s
Vert: 37"
20 yd shuttle: 4.20s (would have been 2nd best time at combine)
edit: Unfortunately, Fuller not running drills it looks like. I assume he still intends to put on a private workout for scouts as he has stated previously if he couldn't go at the Combine or today.
That's impressive if a dude that short can jump that high!
dude could clear Berman!
Verne Troyer could clear Berman
Yeah, its a shame JC's career here at Tech wasnt quite as what we, or even he Im sure hoped.
He looked really fast, quick, explosive on the Vert and he just put up 19 in the bench press, it will be interesting to see if he gets a shot...
Surprise winner of the flashiest cleats award... Ryan Malleck! the shoes make his feet look huge.
Is Chuck Clark just getting a head start on his 2017 draft status? He isn't declaring is he?
Nope, only Deon Clarke is listed there.
