I know there are a lot of music fans on TKP. One of the most talented musicians (and artist icons) of the conclusion 20th and beginning 21st centuries has passed away:

He was a brilliant guitarist and entertainer, as well as inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the class of 2004. Here are 2 vids, the first is from his induction ceremony where he collaborates with Tom Petty and Steve Winwood for a performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in memoriam of George Harrison. The second is from his amazing halftime performance at the Super Bowl (with commentary):

Why couldn't it have been Kanye!?
Kidding of course. Just not been a good year so far when it comes to brilliant musicians.
I dunno. Have my doubts about that. But yeah.
Yes, a huge loss. Very innovative songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and an awesome guitarist. He left an impressive legacy and will be missed.
He will be missed. Doves are Crying, no doubt.
Game. Blouses.
Would you like some pancakes?
I remember watching Purple Rain in a Charlottesville theater, only one other person in the house except me and my wife. We were blown completely away, and have been fans since. 57 is just too young for anyone to die, and while I have paid much less attention to him these last several years, I feel the loss and will miss his unique talents.
The two all time best prince stories of all time:
RIP
Keith Richards has outlived another rock star...
Which reminds me of Willie Nelson's 70th birthday concert where he announced that he had just outlived his dick. I'm sure Prince would've laughed.
someone said that every time you smoke a cigarette, it takes five minutes off your life and adds five minutes to Keith Richards's!
if you're going to be a critic on grammar, you should probably ensure you're right.
Any proper nouns that end in "s" can be turned possessive by adding the " 's." The rule you're trying to invoke is always true for plural nouns, but not proper nouns. The author has a choice, and Richards's is just as correct, if not more, than Richards'.
well, for one, I wasn't trying to be snobby about it. But since you called me out I want to point out that I am, in fact, right since you conceded yourself that both ways are acceptable. Below is an example of one way to do it that I think makes sense. I'm not going to nitpick over it though. This is a public on-line forum after all. And as an engineer, my general grasp of the English language is pedestrian at best.
In Prince's honor, I will eat pancakes for dinner tonight, despite that they are, in fact, cake.
I remembered seeing his solo during My Guitar Gently Weeps at some point. I had always known Prince as a pop culture icon, but was born a little too late to know how great Doves Cry and Purple Rain were. But this performance was the first time I saw him play anything live, and I immediately understood why he was such an icon. The three most important people on Earth; Prince, Dhani Harrison, and HorseOnATreadmill; all loved that performance.
The Artist Formerly Known As Alive lives on!
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.
Only Prince could write his own eulogy. And he was so prolific, he knocked it out decades ago.
So, yeah, throwing back the VA Sweetwater tonight. Yeah.

I have been to many concerts. He was, undoubtedly, the greatest live performer I have ever seen.
Wrote, sang, produced his own songs. Played his own instruments. This is terrible.
When he was 18 years old, Warner Music offered him a record contract. Prince told his agent he wanted complete creative control, something that many of the most popular acts of the day did not have in their recording contracts. Prince's agent couldn't get Warner to agree, for obvious reasons, so instead he offered a compromise: Warner could send as many execs as they wanted to the studio to watch Prince work, to get a feel for his creative process and decide for themselves if his talent merited free reign. They took him up on the offer, and the president of Warner Music himself went into the studio to watch Prince work. After a couple of hours, the president pulls the agent aside and whispers to him, "We're gonna give the kids the control he's asking for."
Apparently he wrote a bunch of stuff for other artists, too, like Manic Monday by the Bangles
He wrote tons of songs for others, mostly uncredited or under a pseudonym, especially Jamie Starr

My guitar does not gently weep tonight. It wails in agony.
I was totally ready to party like it was 1999 last night but the wife was not down with playing a drunk coed that wanted to have fun, something about being pregnant, throwing up and hating my guts...
