I think they are doing a great job, but honestly, the verdict will be a few years out. Recruiting is more than just getting kids to come to a school, but they have to pan out as well.
So I think in Fuente third year is when we will be able to say more about their recruiting ability.

His third year is going to be big evaluation year: does his offensive scheme work, how is his recruiting, how are the staff he brought over doing, how is the staff he kept doing, has Foster and Wiles meshed to the new HC.

Of course that does not count. He would not have done it with his guys, and still will not have proven he can recruit the guys you need to have if you want to win. I mean it be great if he won back to back championships, but if has not brought in a top ten rated class by then he needs to go, or at least fire the coaches who are not bringing the 5 star athletes in their recruiting areas and positions. Give him three years to prove himself before you judge. /s

He did not inherit Cam Newton. Newton played at a JuCo during Chizik's first season at Auburn then enrolled mid year in time for Spring practice in 2010.

This class for the most part features guys who build depth and will be developed. However, they have the right tools. Now, Fuente can tip the scales by nailing the difference makers- and the way that the staff has hyped this (something they don't normally do unless the kid has announced and the word is just getting around) makes me think this could not only be big based on their evaluation board, but also in terms of perception.

With it being Burden that was particularly excited about an announcement in 14 days I'm thinking it could be Capehart. That would be a huge in terms of perception.

I really like Capeheart. Incredible speed off the football at the snap (so fast I worry that he may get some motion penalties because it almost looks like he is dropping early.) Terrific bend and acceleration, which makes him a weapon on screens and quick throws in front of coverage. I would like to see more film of him against press coverage to see if he can get separation on intermediate routes.

Exactly! Who knows if this kid (or anyone being recruited to a D-1 school) will be big in college, get a nice moment at the draft, make it big at the next level? He has worked hard to get recruited and should be able to handle it however he wants. Big announcement party, signing day, tweet, All-American bowl, however he picks. The only thing these big recruits aren't allowed to do is commit to loluva.

And I write that as someone who thinks 757 recruits are generally overvalued a bit. I like this kid at WR better than I like Laborn at RB.
