BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech and the University of Arizona announced Wednesday that the Hokies and Wildcats have agreed to a two-game, home-and-home football series.
The inaugural meeting between the two programs will take place in Tucson, Arizona, on Sept. 8, 2029, with a return trip by Arizona to Lane Stadium scheduled for Aug. 30, 2030. Tech most recently played a Pac-12 foe when it faced UCLA in the 2013 Sun Bowl.
Well at least he who shall not be named won't be coaching there anymore.

The Arizona schools do everything in their power to play night games in the first month of the season.
Bless them. My AZ geography is pretty rusty so I looked up Tuscon on google maps. You could set up a grandstand and watch from Mexico it's so far south.

But I just got slightly depressed thinking about how old I'm going to be when we actually play...
I find it hard to get too excited about games that are scheduled for when I'll be close to 70 years old.
Just be glad if you find anything easy at 70.
I have given the wife and kids instructions for my geriatric accommodations: make sure I have ano attractive blonde nurse and a bowl of oatmeal, and I'm good. Anything more is icing on the pie.
No kidding. My first thought was "awesome, that's like an hour from Vegas, it's gonna be a hell of a week!" and my second thought was "holy crap I'll be 55!"

By air it's only 1:15, looks like Southwest has multiple daily nonstops for around $100. I just priced a hypothetical itinerary from NoVA as if the game were this year, and the entire package (IAD-LAS, LAS-TUS, TUS-IAD) can be had for under $500 if you're willing to live with an early flight or two. No clue what will or won't exist in 2029, of course...

Wish the game was sooner than that, but will be fun as hell to watch the Hokies in Tucson. That town is no good IMO, but the talent is top notch

There are some beautiful parts, the foothills area in particular.
But the rest of it is like one big stripmall with really poorly planned roads.
that's true for all of Arizona. I wouldn't say Tucson is worse than anywhere else but a large portion of the roads there double as flood prevention in the drainage plan as they have crossed over or completely covered existing arroyos. Monsoon season is pretty fun to watch if you're a fan of infrastructure planning.
There are stripmall portions of the city but it has some really interesting pockets as well, whether the old city or in newer areas that are much more refined.
I wouldn't say all Arizona has poorly planned roads. The Phoenix metro area for this most part is laid out in a big N/S-E/W grid, its really hard to get lost there unless you really have no idea where you are going.
I just used to travel there a lot for work, and if I was visiting a client in the east part of town, it took practically as long to get from the I-10 to east Tucson as it did to get from Phoenix to Tucson along the 10 period.
well, Tucson is almost entirely a grid as well, except for dowtown and the foothills. What you are talking about is the lack of expressways through Tucson to get from East to West, which if you don't know where to go can take a very long time to cross the city.
But grids are not inherently good transportation planning. They have to have relief roads that bisect and cross the grid, or the grid will be entirely jammed. I have had the reverse issue you had, and have been stuck in central Phoenix and jammed the entire way out which took longer than driving to Tucson once I got out of the jam.
so that's why I say Arziona is bad no matter where you go.
The seniors on those teams are in 3rd Grade now. Freshmen will be Kindergartners this fall. We may be offering scholarships to people who havent been born yet.

I did not, I wish. Winslow is a total dump. There's a railroad, a jail, a library and the town is really run down. The "Corner" has 4 little touristy t shirt stores and a red flat board Ford with a bronze statue of one of the Eagles (i think Glen Frey) on one of the corners. Other than saying you've been there (I had to see it because Take It Easy is my go to karaoke song) there is no reason to go there

To be fair, by then they will have concluded that it's not fair to punish the current staff and players.
Oh, and the fans. Don't forget the fans who would be unfairly punished if there were any repercussions from past acts on the part of the administration.
They will have had time to think about what they've done, and after all, isn't that enough?
So if the school decides to voluntarily reduce their scholarships for a couple of years, I'm sure they'll let bygones be bygones well before 2029.

In actuality I'll be 49, my youngest will be 17 and hopefully I'll be making a lot more money.
