Hokie Vision shared a look at players checking in for fall camp, including helmet fittings, collecting Nike gear, and snippets of the SiriusXM 84 camp tour visit (co-hosted by Mike Burnop), among other things.

The SiriusXM program with Mike Burnop and Mark Packer is set to air at 5pm EDT on channel 84 today (Thursday 8/4). Spoiler alert: Mark's wife is a Hokie.

-Just ready to go play football; excited to get going
-really fortunate to have great coaching staffs with Coach Beamer and now CJF
-Favorite spot on the field: whenever ball is in his hands; likes to do everything - catching, blocking, linebacker in HS
-excited for the O-line this year
-Make or break: controlling line of scrimmage and protecting football
-Biggest difference from coaching change: -None really, going from blue collar coach to blue collar coach
-on running backs: another shoutout to McClease; everyone needs more reps to be ready
-On Enter Sandman: likes to sit in empty stadium over the summer and just visualize things
-On recent home losses and 4th place Coastal pick: just keep working and take things one day at a time, the wins will come
-who do you want to be like? Liked tenacity of Tim Tebow, Ray Lewis - guys playing with passion.
-On Bristol: media has thought about it way more than we have; will worry about it when it comes (Mark: "coach speak 101")
Whit Babcock
-Whit says he's glad Mark "married intelligently" (Mark's wife is a Hokie)
-Whit, VT, Coach Fuente have enjoyed the new coach honeymoon, now time to play ball ($6 million "speed date" with CJF took an hour and a half)
-wants to make sure all staff, longest tenured to newest, have same vision for VT
-"doing things right" is a good energy builder
-ACC Network: with tv, cost of attendance, etc. - you have to be nimble, dynamic in this landscape; could separate ACC, B1G, SEC into Power 3
-Being able to say almost every sporting event will be on ESPN important to recruiting, and to revenue, which leads to scholarships
-Construction around campus is Strategic, not just because everyone is doing it; $100 Mil athletic complex when you're school is broke suspicious
-Don't believe in self entitlement (waterfalls in the coach's office, for example); Weaver left us in a good position to make the school and facilities better
-Thanks previous administrations that Lane is only 67k, could have easily decided to go to 80k+ during the sellout years, but we are at the right size
-A lot of non-conference scheduling done (and done well) before Whit arrived [speaking of michigan, wvu, etc, not ECU]
-Scheduling 13 years out may seam silly, but having that P5 team set gives us ability to schedule around them as years approach
Finishing Touches
-Mike Burnop: everyone excited for CJF; big thanks to Dr. Sands; great time for VT
-Mike Burnop: CJF least interested about QB timetable; waiting for cream to rise to the top
-Mark Packer: No reason team can't win the coastal
-Mike: Special teams has been a huge focus this offseason

-feels renewed energy; everyone respects previous era and looking forward to new era
-excited about staff and having 2 coordinators working for him, new points of view & experiences; kind of stagnate after 35(?) years
-taking stock of himself/program after last season: I'm looking to learn and grow; visited different places this off season; never able to settle in on defense, had to play man-free
-getting back to playing more multiple; "Good coverage makes for good rushing, good rushing makes for good coverage"
-teams that have had success lately putting a lot of points on the board (in addition to a good defense)
-many teams using spread and athletic QBs these days; SEC still has teams that rely on Pro Style, but aTm, Urban Meyer, etc, came in and gave them problems
-We've given up <18 PPG for 20+ years; that is 1 good season for most teams
-Most important Defensive stat, at the end of the day: scoring defense
-We've been really good on third down stops over the years also; ultimately has to answer to Justin Fuente for making enough plays to win the game.
-Most frustrated Mike has ever seen him - Wake Forest game. "What do you want me to say?" type of look. Many shutouts over the years, but to still lose the football game...
-Will be exciting to get Brandon Facyson back; as healthy as he's been in years.
Woody Baron
-DL, Secondary plagued with injury last year; thinks we were very close last year
-spread and downhill running (gaps) his favorite matchups to defend
-on every player declining to talk about Bristol: "not deflection...it's a process"
-from Nashville, country music guy? "I really tried. I really tried."
-country music clarification: just because not my cup of tea, doesn't mean it's not good; lots of different music in Nashville
Andrew Motuapuaka
-Hair yanked quite a few times in games, mainly o-linemen; camp was shocked when he showed up lock-less
-team defensive numbers: "last year was terrible", we need to get back on top, #1; leadership way better across the board this year - same goal in mind.
-last year: individuals, not playing as one
-Edmunds made lots of plays, "blew my mind", I'm excited to be next to him
-excited, feels confidence in backups; Sean, Trent, and Jameion
-Mike Burnop asked if AM felt the tunnel would ever cave in, same tunnel he ran through when he played (all players were asked about Enter Sandman)
Coach Fuente
-Learned from Coach Patterson the "...need to have equal reps for the 1s and the 2s, because eventually the 2s will be in the huddle."
-CJF's positions of need (depth) in this order: DBs, WRs, LBs
-What he expects from first day of practice: folks know where they are going, are able to execute; eventually execute at a very high level
Cam Phillips
-Coach Hilgart uptempo, high intensity (even in the weight room)
-Having three different WR coaches taught them to be mentally strong and help each other out (I. Ford)
-All the QBs - even down to the freshmen - have been great, preparing amazingly over the summer
-Same lifting group as McClease, thinks he can be "big time" for the Hokies; also wants to see what Patterson, Kumah and Deablo can do
Isaiah Ford
-Up to 195, was 179 in Spring
-"Need to be where we're supposed to be and make the plays" presented to them, in order to help the QBs out
-CJF has them going so fast WRs don't know who the QB is sometimes
-Blocking has been emphasis; added weight helps; thinks they can be 8 deep at position
-Who gives you best defensive looks in practice? (without hesitation) Adonis Alexander, Brandon Facyson...Ke. Fuller last year, and Chuck Clark...any of our DBs.
