Tim Settle named to Piesman Trophy Watch List

After all of the bowl games and other insignificant awards handed out at the conclusion of the college football season, the most important recognition is given to the player with the most impressive play of the year: The Piesman Trophy.

Our beloved punt returner/defensive tackle Tim Settle has been nominated for the award watch list, and, being a proud member of Team Pie, I believe that his play is worth paying attention to this season as he strives for the lauded Piesman Trophy.

Let him field a punt, just one punt, and he wins this award.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

when we're clobbering UVA 63-0 late in the 3rd quarter and force yet another 3-and-out maybe Fuente will let him trot out there to field a punt

Onward and upward

Pretty sure Tim would Settle for that

Here's a recreation of what that scenario may look like if it happens.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

That reminds me: According to my Timehop App, I updated my Facebook status 7 years ago on this day with this quote from 'Tech Talk Live.' Bill Roth asked Greg Boone this question:

Bill: "So, who would you not want to hit you after you catch a pass across the middle?"

Boone: "Myself."

Tippy Toe Timmy doing BIG things!!

I cant be the only one who read the title and immediately looked down at the keyboard to see if it was a typo

you might be though

I don't know. I've got 3 legs (as of writing this comment) that seem to say otherwise. Either that or they're pity legs...

you can't spell pity legs without pie

Leg for you, sir!

I might be there with you....if I hadn't already heard of the Piesman before

Onward and upward

As long as he isn't nominated for the Cakesman Award

What are these cake things that you speak of?

Leonard. Duh.

Too bad he is not nominated for the IceCreamman Award

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

I envision that trophy would be a facsimile of the nightmare inducing gif of the guy with the ice cream head or a trophy that randomly breaks into Van Halen.

Team Ice Cream definitely has the better fight song. Van Halen > Warrant.

Surprisingly good music taste for a HT, leg for you!

Saying Van Halen (an extremely mainstream band that basically everyone likes) is better than Warrant (a hair band best known for one of their lesser works) tells you little about my taste, just that I have a pulse.

I dunno which HTs undermined the credibility of the rest of us when it comes to musical tastes (there's always a few in every class that like garbage like Katy Perry or Nickleback or pop country), but a large plurality of us have good taste, I swear.

Ask a member of HT06 about their first taste of music privilege.

Spoiler: It did not go well.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I really want to hear this story.

I'm '14. Our first full music privilege (where we could use speakers vice headphones) was for St. Patrick's Day. We were allowed to listen to Irish music for the full week before going to Savannah. One of the juniors tried to chew me out for listening to Van Morrison, U2, The Cranberries, and Donovan, totally unaware that any of those musicians were from Ireland.

Dude, Donovan is Scottish

False. Team Pie's song is "American Pie" by Don McLean which most certainly beats a song by what sounds like a German band!

American Pie is overrated. He's just singing about musicians far better than he is.

But Team Cake has its own band.... Cake

Here lies It's a Stroman Jersey I Swear, surpassed in life by no one because he intercepted it.

Found this on Cake's (the band) Wikipedia page:

The band soon came up with the name "Cake"; rather than referring to the foodstuff, the name is meant to be "like when something insidiously becomes a part of your life...[we] mean it more as something that cakes onto your shoe and is just sort of there until you get rid of it".

So Cake isn't even cake's band.

"That move was slicker than a peeled onion in a bowl of snot." -Mike Burnop

like when something insidiously becomes a part of your life

Oh you mean like how you really like this online community of Hokie fans but it's run by a guy who has these really messed up ideas about dessert so even though it's a clearly inferior foodstuffs you still have to hear about cake all the time?

How about the Cookie Monster award? #TeamCookies

Unfortunately the winner has never gotten to take the trophy home.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

What a sweet award.

Al of the PC business, why don't we call it what it is: the Fat Man's Touch Down Award. Which Big Tim Settle will have before his Hokie career is over. Will it be this year....oh we can only hope.

Took me a minute to decide whether you were using PC to refer to all of the PieCake business on the thread or the political correctness of the award.

uva sucks

Nice how that works both ways right? Leg for noticing.

In a few years, the Piesman Trophy will be renamed as the "Settle Trophy."
