It would appear that a dramatic, coordinated new uniform unveiling was preempted last night by an early video release that has since been taken down. Exceptional derp-ing form... Clearly, Mike London's spirit still pervades the program.
New #UVa uniforms could be coming out tomorrow, but were they leaked earlier tonight? https://t.co/G7rYgTrG99 pic.twitter.com/XVTolbwvPf— Eric Hobeck (@eric_hobeck) August 26, 2016
Apparently a staffer accidentally posted it to their youtube. Most boards have been asked to delete. #HoosRising #UniGate— Peyton Gravely (@jpgravely) August 26, 2016
Double-Derp!

In keeping with UVa's official motto of "Me first! ME!!!" SBN's Streaking the Lawn has honored the athletic department's wishes by compiling all the screen shots it could find from those who saw it before it was removed. Linky link

Given the attention that uniform discussion tends to bring about here, I thought this might be interesting for our last day before the beginning of game week. Until then, I'll try to update this post upon full release (supposedly later today) for that sweet, sweet pleasure of Wahoo schadenfreude.

If ya can't beat em... at least try to look like em, right?
Right? That orange jersey might as well be a Clemson jersey.
I thought the same thing.
They're dressing like Clemson for Halloween.
That white helmet is 100% Auburn.
You guys realize that Auburn's colors are based on UVA, right? The first Auburn football coach was a UVA alum and chose those colors specifically.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Petrie_(American_football)
I guess it just looks better on a winner.
No need to be so specific. It looks better on anyone else.
Well compared to UVA, everyone else is a winner. So pretty much the same thing.
In all fairness, they have no football identity so why not just take ideas from successful schools? Seems BM's only original thought was not letting his players practice. We will see how that works out for him.
And why does everyone ask me why I hate it when we wear orange jerseys?
LOL...I came here specifically for
made me chuckle...this is a Jeremy Clarkson type thing to say
The similarities between their football team and their theater department were too close for me to ignore any longer...
My wife calls them costumes, or sometimes outfits. Don't know which is worse...
Looks like they put a refrigerator magnet on the side of the helmet
That's so they can just slap it back on there after every play when it gets knocked off.

Bronco must think a lot of his team if they've earned new
uniformscostumes. They yoga'd so hard this off season they deserve a juice box.
Maybe some gold stars for having a bunch of two sport players.....
Basketball and lacrosse?
If they are going to sit for practice, at least they can look like they belong on the team. Can't hurt ALL their feelings.
Looks like Bronco called the "not earned practice" level a while ago.
Sounds like things must be a bloody mess in C-Ville.
so they cant even get through warm ups? whoaaa whoaaa
Magic underwear too?
Please review the guidelines.
Syracuse, Clemson, or LOLUVA?
I can't believe I'm saying this...but at least they don't have stupid shoulder stripes
#cryinginacorner
But they do have the V with crossed steak knives...
FTFY.
Grandson calls them scissors.
or as TechSideLine calls them.... Dopey Scissors University
They're butter knives that can do a number on a cheese plate. Question is, how much "cheese" is on lolUVA's schedule? I'd say better hold off on buying the crackers, BM.
I think their logo really characterizes their football culture well. What better way to celebrate your zima and brie tailgates then cheese knives as a part of your uniform.
yeah, the helmet's dumb. But I wouldn't mind having Maroon and White versions of those jerseys....
Meh.... I'll take our Hokie Stone uniforms and the design implications that has to our future anyday over these
I love the Hokie Stone unis. But they're not going to be the new standard. Those have already been released and they still have shoulder stripes. The shoulder stripes look forced. Disjointed.
I would much rather have a sharp clean look (like UVA's new jersey) than the shoulder stripes we currently have. That said, I agree that the Hokie Stone unis look best.
Honestly I think the jerseys shown above are pretty bland. Obviously not everything is shown but I would rather have more going on with our uniforms than just a solid color jersey.
Yeah, I'm bored with the shoulder stripes too, but I still don't want just a plain maroon or white shirt. Give me those years of the piping with the single orange sleeve, yes you heard me. Or the orange armpit years. Those would be my highlights. We've got a unique color scheme and going to pretty much all maroon and white would be unfortunate. It goes without saying that I don't want any kind of all orange thing.
I've said multiple times that these are my favorite unis

but we're not talking about that. Or the Hokie Stone unis. Take every other option off the table and compare the shoulder stripe unis we have to what UVA is just about to unveil. I would rather have the UVA design in Hokie colors. That's all I'm saying. It's a sharper look than we'll have this year but I agree it's not the sharpest possible option. I would love to have something better than what UVA is going to have but the reality is that their unis will be sharper than ours. It sickens me to say that.
Unfortunately work is blocking your image, but I think I honestly just disagree with your statement, or maybe the importance of "sharp" when it comes to uniforms. Boring is the word I'd use in this case. Ours are boring too, but at least there's something to break up the monotony there. That's just how I see it.
It's Kam Chancellor wearing the Maroon w/ Orange pits uniform
curious
You can call UVA's uniform boring. I certainly don't think they're particularly exciting. And I agree that ours aren't very exciting either. So let's go ahead and say that both are boring. You seem to like the stripes because they "break up the monotony" and that is fine. I don't like the stripes because I don't think they look congruent with the rest of the uniform. If I had to choose between a boring uniform with shoulder stripes (our current ones) and a boring uniform without them (what UVA unveiled) I'd prefer the latter. I think it's a cleaner, less disjointed look. That is what I mean by sharp. Sharp, obviously, is a relative term. Do I think UVA's uniforms are sharp in general? No, not really. Do I think they are sharper than ours? Yes. Unfortunately. We can mince words all we want but I just don't like the shoulder stripes. I would prefer a boring uniform without stripes to what we have now but my Hope is to get something even better that incorporates orange into a mostly maroon unit. Without disjointed, in-congruent features.
Full disclosure, I'm a huge soccer fan and my taste in athletic uniforms tends to skew that way. So most football fans would say that my favorite designs are generally pretty disjointed anyways. I'm talking poor symmetry and all that. So. Different strokes.
I'm a huge soccer fan, too. Which is why I see nothing at all wrong with ads on jerseys. Bring on the revenue!
Just steal UVa's design and do it better. Case closed.
Then people will complain about the jerseys being unoriginal UVA color change jerseys.
Gently add some flair back in along with our colors.
I see sleeve stripes on that throwback jersey, but still yet, sleeve stripes > shoulder stripes
Completely disagree
From what can be seen, they look sharp.
I agree. From a uniform design standpoint, I like them. From a color scheme/logo standpoint, I wanna hurl.
Agreed - there really isn't anything wrong with them. Can't see the number on the helmet, but I think having matching decals would look better. Other than that, they are clean, simple and classic. They can at least say that they never ran onto the fields wearing anything this terrible:
There is not a thing wrong with that grey uni.
I said there's nothing wrong with "THAT" (referring to our) grey uni sooooo...
Did you also dislike our alternate helmets last season that were modeled after Navy's?
I honestly don't have a very strong opinion on the grey jerseys. I didn't really like them but I didn't hate them either. I just thought it was funny to post the exact same design but in WVU colors (a hated rival)
I liked the Navy inspired helmets, but I realize I may be in the minority on them
I thought the Navy inspired helmets were tight. Definitely not traditional but sleek.
So many other nominations. For instance, when the "bike helmet" was introduced last year, I was indifferent. After the 6th game with it, I loathed it.
All orange was bad. At least two of the military themed unis were bad. Orange and maroon was awful.
VT has really put us, the fans, in a position where we can't really comment negatively on anyone else's uniforms.
They had their carbon fiber helmets, their chrome decal on chrome helmet, and their bumper sticker helmets.
I actually liked the turkey tracks. The foghorn leghorn was the worst. Thought the grey uni was forgettable, much like the special teams play against Alabama.
Wat?
That only holds true for those throwbacks.Edit: In other news, I'm an idiot.
The other two photos show the numbers on the left.
Leave it to LOLUVA to not know left from right.
or right from wrong
... or football from basketball
I'd expect nothing less than a marketing department gaffe from UVA when it comes to anything related to football....
They didn't have to take hours to photoshop fans into the stands, so just hit send and go home early.
i am assuming they just took the helmet photos with no one wearing them, since its difficult to find a real football player at UVA.
Nobody's qualified for practice yet.
(edit: "no one's" just doesn't look right, so I went with "nobody's")
I totally dig the gray face masks, but I'm not into the half logo half number deal. Hated when we did it with foghorn leghorn. The numbers on the shoulder pads are interesting though--did they put the 16 upside down or is it actually 91? I feel like whatever is on the side of the blue helmet doesn't match either of those numbers.
Those helmets are going to show all the grass and blood stains, love it!
I actually think they look sharp.
VT: Unveils new uniforms with the help of one of the top recruits in the country
LOLUVA: Equipment room staffer posts on youtube. Bronco talks about getting to second period on time.
Yet another reason to never wear all orange.
redacted
My favorite uniforms are the ones where we get them stolen, borrow the other teams' jerseys the night of, and write our players names on the back.
and win
That's the best part
Because its Georgia Teach..and YOU can do THAT!
Haha, costumes.
I think numbers on one side of the helmet looks terrible. Does the budget not allow for enough decals for both sides?
Not sure if this warrants a new thread but here's a gem
innnnccredible
more and more I'm thinking ole bronco's not that much a departure from LOLUVa tradition:
They always seem to take any talent that comes in and inextricably tie it to the rest of the team's failure. Though actually holding hands does kinda hit you in the face with the concept so I guess that's new.
If you watched the uniform reveal video, Bronco talks about UVA's "Bluecollar, working man attitude." It's like he watch a commentator talk about VT then just said "that's us now."
Bronco spends too much time thinking about things other than actually coaching football. I appreciate a philosophical approach to coaching; it's part of why I like Buzz so much, but Bronco makes it so unengaging. He also sounds completely unintimidating when he says that other teams "really aren't welcome, in terms of the outcome" at their stadium.
Also LOLUVA needs a new strength and conditioning coach if they have guys struggling to lift the bar (@0:40).
I love the comments about the picture of the full stadium. The only time it sells out is when the opposing team brings the home field advantage with them. Bronco will be dissapointed. Rating: 1 sad UVA fan
That picture outside his office was probably photoshopped.
Exactly what I was thinking. Bronco can't hear that war chant that was overpowering the stadium by looking at a picture
Soooo are we just ignoring the shot where the UVA football player is struggling mightily to bench the bar?
Drink ;)
Ah, that's what I get for posting without refreshing.
Bwaaaahaaahaaahaaaa. They actually made the perfect hire. Suddenly it all makes sense. I feel this deserves a new thread., but definitely a leg.
Call me old school, but I personally dislike all the variations of uniforms that we, along with almost every other P5 team, wear. Why don't we just design a kick-ass uni, and stick with it? I can see the OCCASIONAL throwback uni and such, but this different uni every other week thing dilutes the product, IMHO.
Also, I thought the shoulder stripes uni started as a throwback, and that was fine, but then it became incorporated as the basis of our permanent uniform design. I'm not as much against the shoulder stripes as I am against all the uniform variations from week to week. Sometimes at the start of a game, it's like, "which team are we?"
Ill be in a minority. Because its here and were supposed to make fun of UVA but i actually think they look pretty good. The numbers pn the side of the helmet are a nice touch.
I'm not going to knock the numbers on the side, particularly since VT did a "number on the side" for Beamer's last home game, with Beamer's number.
While there's no accounting for taste, I will say that whether it's here or not, making fun of loluva isn't an option for many of us. It is in our DNA, don't ya know?
