OT: Gene Wilder passes away at 83

Gene Wilder, 'Willy Wonka' Star and Comedic Icon, Dies at 83

Gene Wilder, who regularly stole the show in such comedic gems as "The Producers," "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein," "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and "Stir Crazy," died Monday at his home in Stamford, Conn. His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he died of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 83.

Sad day, I don't think I can recall too many things he's done which I haven't really enjoyed. May he RIP

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Alzheimer's is a truly difficult disease and I'm glad we had Mr. Wilder as long as we did.

He will be missed. He was a heck of an actor.

Alright, 2016, if you wanted to stop taking my favorite actors and musicians that'd be great.

It is football season now. 2016 will be over soon

Gene Wilder? Dead?

On a more serious note, these are the kinds of days where I miss my departed father. Even though he's been gone for years now, he's the first person I immediately want to call to talk to every time a great older comedian dies.

This is unfortunate news. He was one of my faves. Great in so many different roles, and always funny as hell. His wife was Gilda Radner, whom died of ovarian cancer in 1989. He will be missed.

I feel like we use his meme on here quite a bit.

He was dog-gone hilarious. RIP Gene.

My favorite gif of his. Love that part in the movie. Use it multiple times a week when talking with melennials.

1. *millennials
2. Assuming that all millennials feel entitled, talking down to them, and writing articles about how terrible they are is sooooooo cool right now
3. You're ALMOST young enough to be a millennial (I think you're within 2 years of the cutoff)

I don't think there's ever been an up and coming generation that has been collectively shat upon nearly so much as the Millennials. I'm too old to be considered a Millennial by a couple of years (born in '79) but I can tell you I identify more strongly with my Millennial friends than I do with my slightly older Gen X peers.

I'm a millennial. The only thing that ticks me off more than being lumped into the stereotype is when I have the stereotype resoundingly verified by many of my peers.

I always thought this was funny and sadly accurate, but that's just, like, my opinion, man

At least he can finally be with Gilda.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
