As we all know, for some reason unbeknownst to most fans Teller isn't getting the playing time that we know and would like for him to have. As far as I can tell we don't have a thread devoted just to this on yet and I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts or facts on why he's in the dog house

He cut his mullet. Open and closed case Johnson.
Several posters have claimed #sauces for various things. I don't see why we need to re-hash any of that here or offer more room for speculation, informed or otherwise. I know everyone's frustrated and wants to know why our best O-lineman's playing time is reduced. That's between him and Fuente. Everyone knows it's not performance-based, so it is clearly disciplinary and/or effort. That's all that needs to be said. Fuente has said it's about Colt playing better, but it's not true (no disrespect to Colt but Wyatt is better) and is merely Fuente's way of deflecting without throwing Wyatt under the bus. As much as I don't like smoke and mirrors, I like the fact that he's keeping it internal.
I understand that and can respect it, I was just curious, I've never heard anything bad about teller so I just wasn't sure why he made it in to the dog house so fast with these new coaches, feel free to down vote me into oblivion
Same thing happened to him at the start of last year, but it never made it to this point.
Minor tweak. Fuente said it was about Colt practicing better. And that may indeed be true. If Fuente now tries to say Colt starts over Wyatt because he played better, that's a bold-faced lie.
And I am willing to take Coach at his word because we've never heard anything but rumor about any other problems.
i was one of those kids that could not get into the zone and was all in my own head for practice across many sports and all of my years for playing sports. I had to suppress adrenaline in order to focus on the technique for muscle memory and think about what I was doing. I had many coaches comment on it.
I am willing to accept the same thing might be happening here and it is as valid as any other speculation or rumor. Until I hear otherwise, that's my theory and I'm sticking with it.
Only thing about this is i'd imagine wyatt not even practicing to his full effort level is still well ahead of colt's optimal performance. He just has the physicality aspect down more so than any other OL we've had lately.
Coming directly from a.....very.....close source, the practicing better part is literally the reason for what we're seeing. At this point it comes down to Wyatt understanding his position on the team and his potential as an NFL draft pick. Those things need to translate to the practice field right now.
This will always get a leg from me.
Mullet = wins. The better the mullet, the better the wins. Everyone knows this
I don't know how you found that, but that's pure gold.
That's awesome. And I'm worried about that ear.
haha yeah that guy is alright
this is amazing...how the hell does he maintain a straight face even while the reporter (and likely the camera man) is cracking up...that guy may just have a future in stand-up
I've got to believe Fuente has his reasons, either because he thinks it's better for the team, or better for Teller in the long term. This would include discipline for some error in judgment.
As much as I'd like to see Teller playing every down, I trust Fuente's judgment on this one.
All of that said, I sure hope they work this out so that Teller is on the field a majority of downs on Saturday.
I just hope it gets sorted out and Teller starts playing a lot. We will need him for the offense to do well this season.
Perhaps its about motivation and creating depth on O-line and Coach is planning to unleash him for the right opponent. That's my hope.
Soon....

I said it in another thread but since it has it's own I'll say it again....
I won't go into the nitty gritty details, but on Monday I spoke to somebody I know well who talks to Wyatt almost everyday and they told me the reason why he is 2nd on the depth chart is because of a missed practice/left Blacksburg a couple weekends ago for a (somewhat good) reason but didn't give any of the coaches a heads up or notice.
Nice, thanks for the update!
If that is the case, I think he will have learned his lesson come Saturday. I'd expect to see him run out on the field for the first possession.
Unfortunately I don't.
So Petit has been practicing better than Teller. The dude has been there.
Petit has been at more practices than teller would be more accurate if that is the case IMO. I still highly doubt when they are both there that he is performing better.
It was a joke.
That has some precedent in the annals of Virginia Tech football. Way back in the late 60's, there was a certain starting quarterback who disappeared for nearly a whole week during the season. Nobody, who was talking anyway, knew where he was.
I like it when our O-line opens holes for the running game. I think this is good for the team. I think Fuente does too, and knows he is betting his future when he makes decisions that affect this. I am not at all concerned. I'll put a case of beer on the line with anyone who wants to bet Teller will not play.
I have a feeling that Petit will start the first possession and then Teller comes in.
I'd wager Teller is going to get the majority of the snaps with Petit possibly spelling him or playing the first 2-4 possessions depending how things play out
If we can get Wyatt Teller 250 snaps by the end of the ECU game, I will do an AMA for the entire coaching staff.
I saw "Teller" & "French...", immediately opened up the thread, then I was like...
Haha sorry about that my last name is French so that's what I used for my username
You guys need to dial it down. You should go back and watch video of Wyatt Teller's play last year against Ohio State and the better teams Tech played.
He plays like a bully and gets a lot of penalties, but he doesn't hold his blocks very long. Because of that, his man made a lot of the plays last year that resulted in sacks.
he also makes a bunch of key blocks like this past week 4th and 1 he made a HUGE block on two Liberty players to spring Evans for a big gain.
He clearly has the talent to be a high draft pick, however seems like he needs to focus on some other things first
Doesn't hold his blocks? I always would have guessed that his M.O. was to grab a guy and force him to the ground.
He does hold a lot in pass protection, but he's far and away our best running blocker and #2 isn't even close to him.
From techsideline's youtube acct (not behind paywall - think this is acceptable). Cannot say much more than VT's o-line needs more of this on the field...
Yup... that's 10 yards down field...
EDIT: Embed included.
TKP had a gif because Wyatt Teller likes pancakes for breakfast.
MORNIN' TKP, WYATT TELLER IS SERVING PANCAKES FOR BREAKFAST
I almost felt sorry for the guy .....
My sauce told me two days ago that Wyatt needs to "focus" more, but wouldn't go into anything further. He said we will see him on the field more.
Idea:
Let's just wait til Saturday.
I will worry when we are talking about this 6 weeks from now, not after ONE GAME. Perspective!
Sounds like an effort rather than ability thing. There were similar things said in the presser with Wiggins about Ford's play on Saturday. Said he lacked effort than could have given him a much better day, and Wiggins wasn't happy about it. Looks like they are trying to get guys to play with maximum effort, and that is what they are rewarding Colt with. Wyatt is the better player, but he has to earn it by putting the work in. Dedication to the team and the work ethic is what the staff is considering paramount.
