Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be guest picker on Gameday

I can understand why -- he has a bunch of free time now that he's done racing for the season, and he's a huge college football fan. But this seemed like such a good opportunity for Beamer and Manning to be on the show. That's my two cents at least. Thoughts?

Doesn't mean Beamer and Manning won't be on the show. But def. the highest profile segment.

This is going to sound like a joke, but I mean this sincerely. Isn't he going through some pretty severe post-concussion stuff. Should he really be exposed to bright lights and loud noises?

Huh... Never even really thought about that. But as someone who's had 4 concussions, and have heard the same lecture from the doctor each time about avoiding bright lights and loud noises -- No, he really shouldn't be.

It's also been several months. Could be beyond that and just playing it safe with the driving.

Said one reason for not having to worry about driving the rest of the season is stress, and he's shown improvement almost immediately by just relaxing.

I understand why they don't have Manning or Beamer doing the picks. Both would be great, and Manning honestly would be pretty damn entertaining I'm sure. But Gameday very rarely has someone directly related to the football programs playing do the picks. Its maybe a superfan of some kind, but usually not a "recent" former player (although I know they have done some former players - i.e. Joe Namath)

Like Aaron Rodgers for the game at Lambeau last week was a perfect guest picker. Beamer might be too polite as is his won't and not say a remotely negative thing against any of the teams being picked, and having a guest picker that's completely in the bag for one side is not very interesting either.

Just met the College GameDay bus driver in Food City! What a nice guy! I'm currently wearing a maroon shirt that says Beat Tennessee and he stopped me to talk about it.
