A lot of really great things going on for the game. Love that the entire corps is going love that skipper is making its first trip out of state. This is going to be a game for the ages.
Skipper will make what is believed to be its first journey outside state lines in a trailer donated by corps alumnus J. Pearson, the namesake of Pearson Hall who earned his bachelor's in agricultural and applied economics in 1987 from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Skipper and its cadet crew will be on the track throughout the game and fire during the National Anthem, whenever the Hokies score, and at the game's end.

I don't know, man. I don't know. Is everyone going to fit?

I hope we can get Nascar caliber radio signals to the cadets this weekend to make sure they know when to 'fire in the hole'- there were a couple of times that the video board showed Skipper just waiting to be discharged, and the cadets seemed oblivious to the fact we just scored. Nonetheless - awesome!
This might be the only game in a long time where the skipper crew has the best view of the game.
Over and over and over ol Rocky Top!!!!!

Henri Murphy is at Ludicrous Speed!
Henri Murphy's gone plaid
This is great. I love that we're bringing the entire fucking corps.
Yes. That's how you do the biggest game ever.
So we know at least 1k of the 150k will be Tech!
I think a double charge might be in order for the first time we score. If it's the first time Skipper is fired out of state, it should be reminiscent of the first time she was fired in Blacksburg.
Triple charge... and point her right at the Tennessee bench
I second the triple charge and raise you a quad charge. Biggest college football game ever should have the biggest charge from the biggest gameday cannon... It isn't brass anymore so it should hold up (I have nothing to back that statement up with)
YOU CAN'T TRIPLE STAMP A DOUBLE STAMP, YOU CAN'T TRIPLE STAMP A DOUBLE STAMP!!!
I think they already use double charges (at least), which is why it's outside the stadium.
That's great, glad to see this.
Can we get Frank to fire it at the start of the game?
#FirstShot4Frank
I love Frank. But nobody touches Skipper except the Corps.
Corp made him an honorary member during his retirement celebration, so technically...
Good. Then it's settled.
SETTLEd.
You rang???
He really wouldn't touch it. They could hand Frank the string.
Is this the first time it will be fired within the stadium and during the game? Don't recall anything other than pregame..
Umm I thought before they closed in Lane it was right behind the Endzone?
Its first public firing was in a stadium.
So they're bringing a guy in a coonskin hat with a musket, and we're bringing 1000 cadets with a fucking cannon.
YOU DON'T BRING A MUSKET TO A CANNON FIGHT.
That's about right...

Shouldn't that be Bob Dole?
As long as it's not Dick Cheney wielding the thing...
Sidenote: htf does a Robot Chicken clip NOT get any legs?
More legs for 5th!
But....But ...they have Smokey.
By the way WTF do you think the hound is going to do when Skipper speaks!?????
This won't end well.... for UT

Just like we tell the cousins...
OUR GUN'S BIGGER!
I'll just stick this here for a pick me up.

There were some cadets that may or may not have >ahem< acquired the cousins' mascot's musket during a game.
I may or may not vaguely remember that.
Probably not, this was in the late 70's.
Damn, memories are already getting vague.
I think something was obtained from an opposing team 10-12 years ago, leading to a rule about not leaving the stands.
Or maybe I'm remembering the hat.
UCF flag which was great fun until Alpha ruined it by assaulting their mascot and taking the helmet.
That's why they're still licking ass.
Spirit missions FTW
I wanted to post this somewhere. My kid (best kid in the world) drew this for me last night. It's an AT-AT being tripped by a snow speeder...but the snow speeder is in training, so it's tied to a rock.
I was holding it the other way. He turned it this way and said it's supposed to be this way to be a VT for you.
Virginia Tech and Star Wars in one drawing? You're raising that child right.
Kid's got talent & taste, that's for sure.
Victory firing, I like it.
I know most of them are super pumped, my freshman year was when we all went to the Boise game, but we were scattered through the nose bleeds, and the band didnt get to perform. Even so and with the result it was a great trip.
Definitely an improvement this time with bloc seating, Skipper, and the band doing its thing.
VTCC will also present the Battle Ball to game officials, after running it 130 miles (the distance between Blacksburg and Bristol) this week.

An excellent demonstration of teamwork, tradition, and perseverance by the men and women of VTCC.
I touched this ball yesterday outside McBryde
