What is everybody's tailgate plans for BC?

I am still trying to decide what to do for mine.

Hokie Village for me as well, assuming I can get there before it closes at 2:45 (kid's football and a 5K Saturday morning). This will be my 3 year-old daughter's first game so I am expecting to drop more $ on concessions than usual. Her older brothers are being left at home but they got to go to Bristol so hopefully they won't complain too much.

Does anyone know of good public parking closer to the stadium than the location I plan to park in (below)? I typically buy a pass but have not done so for this game. I currently plan to park at the large public lot at The Inn (Prices Fork/W Campus Dr intersection). I would like to have a shorter walk since I will likely be carrying my daughter for the majority of it.

Area around Gables Shopping Center (kroger on main) is usually available. Easier walk tha it seems to the game.

Try the Harrell Street / Center Street area, east of the Stadium Woods. Lots of lawn parking over there that's only a few blocks to the stadium, via the paths through the woods.

The bottleneck leaving this neighborhood is kind of a bummer, though.

I used to live on Center St. It was always fun to have a beer on the front porch while people streamed out through the Stadium Woods after a victory. I seem to recall LSU 2002 being an especially nice afterparty. Kinda recall.

Try the lions club lot off of Harrell street. It is $20 or so but a great spot to tailgate and a 5 minute walk to the game

In Fuente we trust

That parking lot was perfect! Great time had by all!

Out of curiosity, how was the Bristol experience from a kid's point of view? I thought the concession situation (other than beer) was a nightmare so I feel like if you had gone with kids you would miss a quarter or two standing in the concession line.

Thanks for the parking tips everyone!

My sons (ages 10 and 8) had a great time. They were amazed at how big BMS was and loved the USA sign trick during the national anthem. My 8 year-old complained that the speaker was too loud (and I would have to agree).

I did miss 20 minutes waiting in line for concessions, but I bought enough that I would not have to go back later in the game.

I did build in ample lead time to ensure we saw kickoff, so we did not encounter any gate delays like those mentioned elsewhere. Instead, we had over an hour to chill and take in the scenery.

During the 4th quarter when many of the fans for the good guys were leaving, we walked all the way down so they could see the field and the track close up.

All in all, it was everything they thought it would be. And, when else do they get to eat doughnuts at 12:30 AM?

My little Dude's first trip as well. Looking forward to it!

Lot 8- starting around 9-9:30... party on.. 3:30 games are the best for tailgating!

I'll be repping El Ocho as well. Probably arrive around 11:00. Usually backed up in the little side lot toward The Grove (P16 according to the official campus map). Come see us, generator and satellite will be hot.

Sad that I'm missing this and the ECU game. Especially with the weather and kick off for this weekend.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

My wife is pregnant, she won the drawing for an expectant mother's parking spot in lot 2! Gonna enjoy it this time, I know it will probably be the last!

Normalness in Lot 18. Should be kindof chill compared to last week.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

The expression on that woman's face gets me every time.

Warren Street Lion's Club...don't plan on being as "turnt" as I was last weekend, but only time will tell. 3:30 games are the best. Enough time to get your drink on, not enough to get too much drink on and not remember the game.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

My parents are going to that lot as well, if they get there by 10:30, will they get a spot?

Yeah, as long as they get there before like an 1 or 2 should be plenty. Hope I'm there by 10:30 myself.

Going to my first Fuente era game and sitting in the Club seats for
the first time. Hope it's a good one!! Let's go HOKIES!!!!

@AMB4VT

Still detoxing after Bristol. Getting older sucks.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Beer

-Stick it in

Lot 18 FTW.

Starts with breakfast and Irish coffee at 8:00 AM.
Homebrew and some craft beer.
Lunch/dinner is a grilled sammich, to be decided tomorrow at the grocery. I guess I'll have to do one of my homemade mayo.

Stop by and introduce yourself. Look for the maroon 4door wrangler with body color top.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

My wife and I will probably swing by. We came by last week for a few minutes with Danny Coale Is My Spirit Animal right before the Liberty game. We will bring some Captain!

We really need to organize a Lot 18 potluck or something in the coming games.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Change of vehicle.
The dealer did not finish the maintenance on my wife's Jeep.
We will have a very ugly 4 door Wrangler- Gold with black top. It still has dealer crap all over it.
Look for that one, not the maroon Wrangler on Saturday.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Well my wife and her mother are going to the Wilderness Trail event in Christiansburg so that is going to restrict what time I can get to the lot and set up the tailgate. So I guess early morning will involve mowing the lawn while others are firing up their grills.

We have a busy morning in NC, but I will be there. Pregame will involve driving like a bat out of hell up I-81 sometime after lunch, Tokyo Drift maneuver into a spot somewhere off Draper Road soon after 3pm, run at a 7 minute mile pace to the stadium, and then start the bidding war for two decent tickets for my son and I, hopefully in time for kickoff.

Leonard. Duh.

Good luck. Hope you get all the breaks and avoid traffic and wrecks.

Godspeed, Leon.

I am not even sure how that gif happened. I am somewhat impressed.

Accelerator jammed maybe?

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

good reason to have a clutch

Onward and upward

Or a key for the ignition.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I was actually behind someone who pulled a maneuver like that. Randomly drove up onto the curb, swerved back into the road, and accelerated across two lanes of traffic and diagonally across an intersection before jumping another curb and trying to mount a car stopped at the light. Stuck around to give the cops my account of what happened and listened in. Lady driver did not remember any of it, but was on a restricted license for seizures and drove anyway. Police/EMT seemed to think she'd had one.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Sadly I wont be able to go to this one. Ya'll have fun though. And remember: No tailgate is complete without Funnels for Fuente.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

The funnel always abides.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

That funnel got a lot of action last weekend. Kinda like my liver.

It may see lighter action this weekend but it will get some regardless.

Lot 18 around 11:30.

What are the downtown restaurants like after a 3:30 game? Can you get into Cabo, Mello, or other joints waiting an hour or less? Any suggestions?

Not counting travel time, you should be able to get in and out of Cabo in an hour.

Damn. I will gladly turn in my Shenandoah River native card. Not sure how I could f&$@ that up.

I'll edit. Leg for the correction.

Bringing a friend from Germany up to see the game. Don't have a parking pass. Looking for suggestions on best places to park and tailgate.... Will have beer and brats but want to get him a fully dipped Lane Stadium experience.

Lets GO!!!!

The public lots around the parking garage at Prices Fork/Campus Drive/Perry Street are $20 and usually have decent tailgating going on around the outside edges. You should be able to get a spot backing up to the sidewalk/grass if you're there three hours before kickoff. Pretty long walk to the stadium, so leave time.

Getting to cross the entire campus and walk across the whole drill field is a big plus though. Love those lots for tailgating.

Used to live in McBryde village (across Price's fork from Godwin hall) and always enjoyed walking through the festivities to meet up with friends in lot 8. You also get out of town real quick once you get back to your car. Just shoot up Tom's creek and get on 460 while everyone in the Price's Fork lots are waiting forever.

Also, free street side parking (ignore the people charging your to park in their lawns).

If you're gonna pay $20 just go to the golf course and pay the green fee and park there beside the pond. You can throw a rock at lot 18 where the tailgating action is, and it's a lot shorter than walking from that Prices Fork/Derring Hall lot for the same price.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

This sounds like a good option. Can you tailgate at the golf course or do I cart my gear over to lot 18 and try to find a spot where I can set up the mini keg and grill? Also, how fast does it fill up? Do I need to get there early (before 10)?

Lets GO!!!!

Yeah you can set up and tailgate there. I did it for the Liberty game for a couple of hours. They're fine with it. Even though it's the gravel lot right beside the road, it never really fills up. You should be able to have spaces there at 10 or so.

Question about tailgating at the golf course: do they have restrooms there, or do you have to venture over to lot 17/18 to find one?

There should be porta potties just about everywhere.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

I used to use the lot where the old middle school was. It isn't a bad walk to the stadium from there.

Smoking baby back ribs in lot 19. LET'S GO!!!!!

Beat WVU

I enjoy people who speak the language of smoke.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Will be working during the game...fuck my life.

and Matt Ryan amirite?!?

I'm gonna be cleaning and packing my house up all weekend. Trade ya?

Packing?! We just hook 'er up to the truck and leave...

We put the K in Kwality

Lot 7, my boys have been to a good number of games, but mostly of the 12:30 type. This will be their first tailgate.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Hitting the big Snallygaster beer festival in DC then heading to a nearby bar to watch the game.

Sitting at my house about 0.5 miles from the stadium. Drinking beer. Grilling protein. Then game on tv. Hope it's a fun game.

TKP tailgate, lot 18, beers and food.

Nothing for me this game. Getting home late tonight in PA, going to sleep a few hours then drive down in the morning. Checking into the hotel then heading to the lot and game.
