Is Sunday practice new under Fuente?
If memory serves me, they changed to Sunday-Tuesday a couple of years ago. Or maybe they changed from Sunday-Tuesday.
Either way I don't believe it's anything new.
I know that last year at least, maybe year before, Loeffler suggested moving the film review from Monday to Sunday (idk if there was physical practice past conditioning) in order to discuss mistakes while memories were fresh.
Um, he looks huge when next to the players. The man's body has no bounds
+1 just for your username.
Outstanding avatar as well.
We got ECU next. We need to destroy them by 80 at the end of half time and 120 by the end of the game
Seems feasible to me
we need to win because I have to attend my best friend's wedding and there is nothing worse than losing a friend to married life and losing to ECU on the same day.....
/s about married life, happy for him, but you get the gist of it
A wedding on game day? You might want to reconsider that best friend part.
lol I know, I tried to tell him. He even played football and is a huge football fan, just not of the Hokies though
Also have a (Hokie) wedding on Saturday. I feel your pain and share your sentiments.
Why!! We talked about this before and I still don't get it.
Months it's ok to get married on Saturday: January, Feb, March, April, May, June, July, most of August and two bye weekends plus weekends of Thur night games. That gives them like 75% of the year Sats to have a wedding. Or get married on a weekday.
Nah, play it safe for the long game, and knock out all of September through December. Don't want to deal with anniversaries hitting on weekends. Or Thursday nights.
A non-VT example:
My brother-in-law got married a couple of years ago in November. His wife picked the date based on looking at the Dallas Cowboys schedule and picking the bye week. "It's perfect!" she thought. Except for the part where the first anniversary would fall on a Sunday. (And I'm not even mentioning the part where I had to miss all but about 30 minutes of the Hokie game that day.)
I enjoy trips to Blacksburg or away games with the wife. Would make great anniversary trips.
I think there are only 52 Saturdays in a year.
Just came back from a Hokie wedding this past weekend - worst part was both the bride and groom were band kids and should know better...
Had a great time, but gave them constant hell about it all the way up until the wedding day
What time's the wedding?
Very , very important karma rule with game day weddings...
If the Hokies are playing during the actual ceremony, do not Ninja check your phone for the score. It will ALWAYS be bad news. You MUST wait until the ceremony is over.
Plus you'll kinda look like a douche. I take it you're single from your comment. You probably already know weddings sport solid single female talent. Keep your head in the game.
I lucked out kinda where the wedding isn't until like 4, so I'll be leaving for it probably just after 3rd quarter
Nick Acree benches Burruss.
Which is more...is Bucky taller or is Nick Acree huger?
Don't forget about Boykin's hands.
Edit: Because ESPN sure didn't.
Joe:
The title of your thread could easily be changed to what life is like for a Hokie FAN after the game. I was waiting for the Slept On It thread, but will put it here. Let's face it, yesterday was just FUN.
It was great seeing the guys bounce back after Bristol. I think we knew we had a real good chance to win, but all of the prognosticators had this being a low-scoring slobber-knocker. Now, we see and can imagine the possibilities. It's still a work in progress, and we have a long way yet to go, but the excitement is back.
Let's be honest, our guys haven't been fun to watch for some time now. For every OSU, there was a ECU to kick us in the nads. Yesterday was a throwback to the good times. It was what we had been used to seeing, and got a little spoiled when it went away. Mind you, this is not intended to throw shade on any past coaches or players. Yesterday was just a long time coming. And it was a thing of beauty.
Granted, it wasn't without its tense moments. The kickoff return that was called back could have given BC some life when the game was still close. That 3rd quarter dropped pass when the whole place thought they would run would have broken up the shutout. There were some ticky-tack penalties, and the one turnover, but nothing like what we saw vs. Tennessee.
We held on to the ball. We made a pretty good defense look bad. We had offense that matched our defense. Bud's guys preserved the shutout, even the bench, when the game was out of reach. Motley scored. We got to see Marshawn. We got to see Click. No excessive penalties by Teller. And for the record, Gaines made a GREAT block. It was just satisfying. And did I mention FUN?
Winning fixes a lot of things, but the video clip tells me one thing: these guys want to keep getting better and they are buying in. The best clip I saw was CBF high-five CJF. I hope this is just the start of some really special times ahead.
To any of the players that follow TKP, I want to say thank you. You played your guts out and you were awesome yesterday. I hope the game continues to be fun for you this season, regardless of the outcome. Go get ready for next week, fellas....we will be there for you!
Go Hokies!!!
I think it unfair that our turnover will be credited to Evans as an INT
My thought on this: the ball is still bouncing against us. Three tipped passes all caught by BC. Frustrating as all get out, but no where near as bad as the fumble against Tenn.
I was glad to see Teller listed as one of the four "Players of the game" per the HokiesFB Twitter account
HEY GUYS, WE RECEIVED A VOTE!!
lol
Speaking of polls, can we talk about why Miami jumped 10 spots for beating App State?
Because Tennessee
AND TENN is in the SEC -- AND Transitive Property -- AND the U is back
Pollsters are good at this.
So...by the transitive property, we've already lost to UM?
Tenn beats us handily (on paper)
App state essentially tied UT
Miami takes App state to the woodshed
Ef that, says I
I'm alright with the transitive property working this way, as it means we won the NC in 2014.
Now that's a dilemma. Concede Miami being better than us now in exchange for being better than the National Champions two years ago. This is why we can bend rules I guess.
Except we have not played them yet this year so, it's only a temporary admission.
I bet that our showing last Saturday has them nervous.
I thought we did...
Let them keep rising. I want a top-10 Miami on a Thursday night.
Three more convincing wins between now and then and we could be top 20.
Miami has had it pretty easy until now. They have a tough October ahead of them after a bye this week:
10/1 - @ Georgia Tech
10/8 - FSU
10/15 - UNC
10/20 - @ VT
10/29 - @ Notre Dame
If they get through that stretch unscathed (minus the VT loss), they might be able to start making a claim for being back.
That puts us either at 42 or 43.
The "or" is because ND State is included in the 27th spot.
These rankings make me happy...
Total offense: 49
Total defense: 2

We're top 50 in scoring offense and total offense. And that's after facing what on paper might be the two best defenses we face this season.
And how the hell did GT get 20 something votes in the coaches poll and we got none?
There is a lot of weird things in AP and Coaches polls this week.
Because coaches only pay attention to 13 teams. Theirs, and the 12 teams on their schedule. Other than that, they're handing it off to assistants that are probably just repeating what ESPN is feeding them.
If I heard that bark but didn't see him, I would be expecting the largest dog that mankind has ever seen.
I remember when we recruited Nic and I would have never guessed he would have been the leader he is for our team today. VERY HAPPY AND PROUD OF HIM!
I love the barking.
We need to be dogs. Sled dogs. They have clear leaders. They work as a team. They WANT to work. They keep pulling, dragging the sled, together. They don't care about where they're going. That will take care of itself if they do the work and drag the sled, every day, as a team.
Give us a sled dog team.
You either live in Alaska, or know way too much about sled dogs.
That barking thing is sweet. Great to see how they're getting after it.
One of the greatest coaching interviews of all time. Leg.

Surely he's got some eligibility left.
Plenty of eligibility, short on functioning knees IIRC.
I think this weekend proved a lot of things. Evans is the best QB we have had in a long time. He has true poise and leadership, coupled with many weapons at receiver and great depth at RB. If we don't turn the ball over, I feel like this offense could line up against just about anyone.
Bud gave us a vintage effort yesterday. I feel like our DL is as deep and productive as it has ever been, with LB play steadily improving. DBU is also alive and well.
I think we learned just how dangerous this team can be yesterday. The coastal is up for grabs, so let's go get it. Love to see this fire in the team as we head into a must-win game vs those damn Pirates. The best I've seen this team play in a long time yesterday, let's keep it going.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves... Yes BC had a top (the top?) defense last year, but that was last year. It's a new season, they now have a new defensive coordinator.
Need to see more consistency from this team week to week. Yes, we can line up with most teams, but will we? We have a lot of test coming up (ECU, UNC, Miami and Pitt are far from guaranteed wins). Not yet ready to crown Evans as an amazing QB.
Don't get me wrong, I think this team is going places, but I don't want read too much into this win. We kicked the shit out of a bottom 4 ACC team. How does the team react when a starter goes down with injury? Next time the team is trailing in the third qtr, are they going come together, or fall apart a la Bristol? How will we play against 'better talent' at ND? We're definitely going places, but I think we'll have some more freshman moments on the way.
Bottom 4 at best...maybe bottom 2.
Make no bones about it, BC has a good defense. They're bottom 4 at best because their offense is actively trying to set the game of football back 30 years. We should know, we dealt with it ourselves the last few years, but BCs problem is they don't have the talent to overcome to putrid design.
But back to that defense, they're good. Despite having a shit offense, they lost all their games last year by I believe a combined 77 points, which, when you figure they went 3-9, that means they were losing by just over 8 points a game. Not bad. And we just pants'd them.
I think they'll finish this season with a top 25 defense. I just don't think they're quite as good as they were last year.
Hard to be ranked that high on defense when Loeffler is the OC
No let down. Blast them to bits.

OT: Was this show any good?
epic...Love this show.
We aint no puppies. We some dogs.
no Winston during halftime this weekend.
The slaughter in Kentucky continued.
