ACC Network Affiliates week 4 - ECU at VT

Everything we love about our schedule is on display this week. ECU. 12:30 kickoffs. Raycom. ACC Network.

The good thing here is that we already know what the deal is on how to watch the game. It's just like week 1. I haven't done a full comparison of the lists, but I'm willing to bet that for 99% of us, the ECU game is on the same channel as the Liberty game.

Full list: http://www.theacc.com/news/acc-football-on-the-acc-network-east-carolina...

There is a link in the above link for "watch live". And, there's the ACC app that also streams the game. (It has sent me a reminder every Saturday around noon, and emphasizes the part about not needing any authorization to watch.) ESPN3 usually has the game blacked out in most of the country, to the point that it doesn't make sense to even try. We've learned that the new ACC deal does not extend to the Raycom game in terms of streaming, even though they brand it with the ESPN ACC Network Extra logo on the schedule.

The direct link to the live stream: http://www.theacc.com/game-center/576c0e35e4b00127c7acff91/
(I think...it's what comes up with I click on Watch Live right now. I assume it'll be the same on Saturday.)

For the Virginia based folks:
Blacksburg - WDBJ 7 (CBS)
DC - My20 WDCA
Richmond - CW Richmond
Tidewater - WGNT 27 (CW)
Hooville - NBC 29

Again, the Harrisonburg station isn't listed anymore. And Raleigh, NC folks, it's still on WRAL. (Based on the week 1 topic, seems like we have a large contingent there.)

I'm so freaking happy my local affiliate has picked up ACC Network games. Makes it much less of a PITA to watch.

I figure that this topic shouldn't be on page two on Thursday before the game, so a friendly bump for those that might still need the list.

I used the Harrisonburg station for Week 1, it's not listed for this week. Hopefully the stream works, it wasn't in HD on the Harrisonburg station anyway.

The Harrisonburg station hasn't been listed since week 1. And it was a sub-sub-channel or something like that.

Honestly, if you're that close to Harrisonburg, odds are there's another (better) station that you can pick up.

It's a directTV thing. I got that channel (like "The Mountain" or something?) but I don't get NBC29 from Charlottesville.

I just looked over Harrisonburg channels, and good lord, it's a mess over there. Looks like most of the networks are all on subchannels of channel 3. While directv is giving you the CW from the WVIR 29 subchannel, they give you the NBC 4 feed from DC. While 4 is the better channel, I would think that 29 would have more relevant news.

I was thinking back when my now-wife lived in the valley, and she got the DC stations on her cable. I figured that extended a little further, with just a little supplemental from the H-burg stations. (Like when I lived in Culpeper, getting the DC stations plus 29.)

TitanTV.com shows that MyValley (50 on directv) has an ACC Network game in the right time slot on Saturday, but it's listing it at Liberty at VT. But it also shows that on the same slot for 10/1.

I have Dish Network here east of H'burg and I only get the ABC 3 from H'burg on Dish. I can get NBC 29 and the CBS from H'burg on antenna. For some reason, I can not get the CW sub channel from H'burg on antenna.

If you can't be in B'burg then H'burg ain't bad.

I have friends in H'burg...nice place

Yeah, I have a feeling MyValley will cover it in all its non-HD glory. They had the Liberty game but don't show the ECU game yet (I checked last night again). But if its not blacked out on WatchESPN, I can just chromecast it.

Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Yeah, I just have a weird interest in TV stations.

I searched for the ACC app on Roku and all they had was ACCDN (digital network). I didn't see any options for live streams, just short videos for each team. I'm assuming the ACC app that allows live streaming is on Android and Iphone?

Game should be available on Watch ESPN, if you have access to that. I watched the Liberty game using it, even though it was being broadcasted locally here.

Assuming week 1 wasn't a fluke, it looks like blackouts for streaming the ACC Network games through ESPN are gone.

Edit to add: Yeah the ACC app with live streaming looks to be limited to phones/tablets. I was able to mirror the BC game from my tablet to a fire tv last year, so that could be another option.

I tried to stream the Charlotte/ Louisville game week 1 on ESPN3. It was listed as one of the RSN games. It was blacked out. I did find it on an obscure Comcast Network channel (not CSN) while at work. So those games could be problematic, since they are sub licensed to Fox.

Yeah I don't think it applies to any games that end up on a RSN. The blackout is only gone on the "ACC Network" games that are syndicated onto local broadcast channels. I think this ACC Network is now technically a digital channel that is part of ESPN3 until the real channel launches in a few years, hence no blackouts. At least that is how I read this: http://www.theacc.com/page/acc-espn-announcement-faq I could be completely wrong come Saturday and will be cursing up a storm.

I think it's two fold. We still have the Raycom game on TV, which still works off of a sub-license from ESPN. But it might have fewer blackout restrictions on ESPN3/WatchESPN. And then the "ACC (ESPN) Network Extra", which is essentially just ESPN3 with a different logo.

When ESPN's ACC Network launches in 2019, I believe that Raycom will be cut out of the game, just like they were with the SEC.

So I checked the ESPN3 stream from Chesterfield, and I was blacked out.

I watch it on NBC 29 on antenna here east of Harrisonburg rather than the CW station.

+1 I live in Des Moines so unless we are on ABC, ESPN or the Deuce I really don't get to watch us play. Looks like the game will be on an affiliated network here so muchas gracias!!

If you can watch ESPN and ESPN2 then you should have access to ESPN3/WatchESPN app on your computer or phone.

Quick question for anyone with Xfinity.

Is there any way to zoom in to remove the letterbox formatting (black bars top and bottom) from SD feeds on the X1? My local ACC Network affiliate doesn't broadcast in HD and the letterbox formatting annoys me.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

If your cable box doesn't let you, do you have a zoom option on your TV? We have xfinity at work, but because it was a free hookup, they only have us SD. But I have the TV set up to zoom in. I'll doublecheck today to see if there's an option in the cable box.

There is a zoom option on the X1, but it just takes a small image surrounded on all four sides by black bars and stretches it horizontally so there's only black bars on the top and bottom. I'm looking for a way to make the image fill the whole screen.

I checked at work, and I couldn't find any zoom on the box, so we're stuck with zooming on the TV.

Geez, sometimes don't you miss the days of square TVs and whole numbered channels that were actually on the channel they were supposed to be? Never had to worry about how many TVs were in your house, because you could hook all of them up with a splitter. And the picture was always the right shape and not missing info on the sides.

Game day bump.
