OT: Arnold Palmer...a legend is gone

Sad day in the sports world. Multiple outlets reporting that Arnold has passed away at 87. If you like golf, you can't help but appreciate the competitive yet humble nature of "the King". I always liked his demeanor much more than Jack's.

He will be remembered not only for advancing the game of golf, but also for his contributions to the beverage world.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Absolutely. My all time favorite if I'm not drinking alcohol.

A shot of vodka and a shot of rum goes great in an Arnold Palmer. Just saying.

Lemonade and sweet tea vodka has been named the John Daly

I'm pretty sure it's not a John Daly if it doesn't have horse tranquilizers in it.

Jose Fernandez passed away today as well.

The Marlins pitching star was 24

Keep calm, Gobble on

Also expecting his first child.

Didn't know that. Shitty...sad.

Sad, senseless, and unfortunately, entirely avoidable.

For anyone unfamiliar, he's the pitcher in this GIF

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Lost an all time great and a future great today. In regards to Palmer he advanced the game that I love into the modern era. And his name adorns one of my favorite drinks

I don't like golf, but I do like my tea and lemonade. I'll be sure to drink one this week in his honor. My father was a huge fan.

This sucks. One of a handful that I've never met and will miss for a long time. Listened to stories about Arnie since I was old enough to hear them from my father.

@hokie_rd

RIP Arnie. Lost one of my hero's in my youth.

RIP Jose Fernandez.

2016 sucks.

Might as well say "Life sucks". The only way we don't have to say goodbye or mourn our heros is to predecease them. Arnie had a great life, a long life and a meaningful one. I cannot think of him without thinking of my own father who loved to watch Arnold and Jack, and while I never learned to love golf like my dad, I did get a strong dose of appreciation for his favorite players, and even got interested in watching for a while when Tiger was tearing it up. Arnold was a class act all the way.

I'm only 26, so I never saw Arnie play. But I was raised a huge golf fan though, so I still teared up when I read he had passed last night. Not sure any athlete had a more positive or deep impact on his sport than Arnie did on golf.
