Syracuse game kickoff set for 3:45 PM

At least it's not a Nooner on ACC Network

345?

That's an odd time slot.

disregard- I was thinking 345MT. I'm an idiot.

Its almost as if by having an offense that can score points, we're getting more favorable time slots due to network execs thinking people would actually want to watch us

yeah, maybe...I think the point though is that 3:45 is kind of a weird time

Onward and upward

its ESPNU.... everything is Abby Normal when you're on the U

Leg for the Young Frankenstein quote.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

There was an event at AMC theaters in Hampton Roads showing Young Frankenstein in the theaters again.

It.

Was.

AWESOME.

So much detail that I hadn't noticed before. Also, it was apparently a revelation to a lot of people that Gene Hackman plays the Blind Man.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I'll take it.

No complaint on the time, but of course on the one game day that I have to work this season, it's on a channel I don't get on the TV there.

Yeah, there's streaming options, but I try to minimize that at work...

Time is odd, because it's a Big Ten game on the U at noon, either Iowa at Purdue or Minnesota at Maryland, and those are notorious for finishing on time or early.

But the ACC has taken over the late afternoon window across all four of the primary mouse channels: http://www.theacc.com/news/acc-announces-game-times-networks-for-week-7-...

Maybe it's a 3:30 tv start time but kickoff is 3:45ish?

First thing I thought when I saw it. That's a kickoff time, I'd imagine.

They're usually not that specific about TV times. And kickoff isn't usually that late after broadcast time, except for primetime.

I'm absolutely enjoying the latest time slots. I'll be even happier with the Hokies in the ACC championship @ 8 PM. It doesn't hurt to dream.

Now to get them to give us these time slots for games at Lane, and I'll be happy.

I'm hearing from a very good source that the Miami game at home will be a 7:30 kickoff.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Oh nice, was possibly missing Sandman with the 7:00 schedule due to driving down after work, but that helps!

I think that poster was just joking about the kickoff time, and hadn't heard any inside info.

Keep in mind that in the past, ESPN Thursday Night games have been 7:30pm But for this year, all official published kickoff times for the VT-Miami game that I've seen have been 7:00pm.

ESPN is showing the BYU - Boise State game at 10:15pm. If we continue our trend of having a 30 point lead in the 4th quarter they may actually cut away from our game...

This is a game where we can hopefully jump on their porous defense early and get some stops. This game is scary if we have a sluggish start, which luckily hasn't been much of an issue so far for this team.

Well, the last 2 games have had three 3-and-outs for the first 3 drives against ECU and two 3-and-outs and a 4-play 3-yard possession resulting in a FG against UNC. I'm not counting the Stroman TD return since that was special teams.

This isn't what I'd call hot starts but the defense hasn't allowed our opponents to get going until after we do. I'm not complaining about the results either but I'm still apprehensive about our offense performing to its full ability. 15 years of fan experience is hard to break in 5 games. I will say that the BudFu is bringing me around and I am feeling more joy watching our beloved Hokies than ever before.

The EMCs will be at the front of section 317. Anyone else going to this?

I'll be there. I'm not sure where my tickets are. I've left that up to my cousin. She lives in Syracuse and is a big SU fan.

You'll need that with the lack of AC.

As the game gets closer we can see who else is up, maybe arrange a TKP gathering. Not sure how tailgating works up here. The Dome didn't feel too terribly large last time I was there, but it was cut in half for a basketball game. Not too hard to spot people.

Central New York Hokies on Facebook said they were planning a tailgate, but working on the details. This was before the time announced.

Dome holds 49,250 for football, but I don't think they come close to filling it.

Tickets cost a lot more than UNC/Duke. (not saying that's the reason)

Yeah, a quick look at StubHub indicated not a lot of tickets left. Excitement over the new program? Definitely more exciting than the last couple of years.

We'll just have to quiet the place early (since I doubt our fans take it over).

Headed up from NoVA to visit a couple of friends that live in Albany for the weekend, and we're doing a day trip from there for the game. I wasn't the one to buy tickets - so no idea where our seats are either.

I will be in Section 319 with 4 other Hokies!

I'll be in 318 with 3 friends

I'll also be in 318 apparently...with somewhere between 1 and 3 friends

I initially thought you were letting people know where to get medical assistance at the game.

Useful info, but a bit unusual to know so far in advance.

No, but I did find this:

"The first aid room is located on the lower level concourse between aisles 101 & 102 on the south side of the Carrier Dome across from Gate A."

I'm worried about the 5 day gap between this game and Miami...

Yeah, I miss the days when the bye would fall before a Thursday night game. Thanks ACC.

While we're at it, are we also blaming the ACC for sandwiching UNC with FSU and Miami the week before and after their game with VT (which is coming off a bye week)? Or blaming the ACC for giving Miami and VT the same amount of time before the Thursday night game? Or for giving VT 10 days off after the Pitt road game before the Nov home stretch?

All things considered, VT got the very long end of the scheduling stick this year.

Dude, I don't know who pissed in your ACC Wheaties, between this and the topic about the conference schedule and divisions, but damn...

The ACC has always been open about giving both teams the same amount of time off before a Thursday game. Either both get a bye the week before, or neither do. Back in the day, our bye always came before the first Thursday game. Beamer loved it. Get two long weeks around two Thursday games. Up until Weaver's "we don't want Thursday games" deal. And really, the only two times we've gotten the short week have been this year and 2013.

Actually pitt is off the week before our matchup with them.

That makes sense. I guess what the ACC does is make sure that only one team has a short week.

Well scheduling is hard. It can't work out perfect for everyone. I prefer to think of it as the ACC predicted the juggernaut VT would become and gave Pitt a chance, a lifeline of sorts.

If it makes you feel any better, we had one of our best defensive performances ever against GT in 2013 on a short week.

Miami has the same issue, but they travel to Blacksburg after playing UNC at home. I'd rather our schedule than theirs.

The girlfriend is making me go apple picking during college game day and possibly into the noon games but she then said she will make spiced apple cider for the Hokie game, I guess it will be worth it now.

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

And she has all the way until 3:45 PM to get it done!
