Weekly Weather Report....in a dome

I'm going to try to keep this brief sorry its taken so long getting this up. I just wrapped up my lit review last night and I've been beyond focused on that.

So wow, last week.... pretty intense amiright?! seems like most everyone on here was A-OK (I hope) and so far it seems like for the most part the coastline headed the warnings and took for shelter, barring a few deaths it could have been a lot worse (thoughts and prayers with Haiti right now). Also Virginia beach and Hampton roads area I'm really sorry about fudging that up...and I did bad. At least we get to enjoy the sweet tears of UNC fans. Seriously I've never heard a fanbase complain about weather as much as they have, its been absolutely ridiculous. Both teams were impacted, yes your offense was a little impacted, but we played to the elements. All this game tells me is your coach is a moron and cannot adjust to the game or the conditions.

seriously not all sports are indoors, and not all sports call hand checking

I know regions of chesapeake are still underwater (my fiance's parents had a tree go into their barn and another come inches from crushing a tree) likewise I've heard insurance companies are giving you hell...apparently if its a warned hurricane theres a higher deductible because "well you should have been prepared better". Well for fudging up your forecast let me try to make this a little better if i can. Technically speaking (in all weather terms) this system turned into a midlatitude cyclone. It broke up and weakened along the Carolinas and dropped from a hurricane to what you could call a tropical storm I suppose. Basically it had all of the attributes that a mid-latitude cyclone would have. However this was terrible news for people in the VA beach region, instead of having the front push it out to sea like many were forecasting, the storm just kind of merged with the front. RESULTING IN TONS OF RAIN for your region. Due to the massive amounts of rainfall you guys have had the ground was already well above saturation. Winds were not a huge issue for most of Virginia (yes parts did record gusts around 70) however the sustained winds were around 10-20 MPH which is still pretty windy but not enough to wreak the havoc it did. As expected flooding was awful. But I digress, you should be able to smack down an insurance person with this information. VA was not under a state of emergency, forecasters botched it in your region (but nailed it prior to that for the most part), it was not a hurricane at that point, you should not have to go through this. Rainfall amounts were terrible and insurance companies should not be ripping people off and trying to weasel them through further payments, if anyone on here is with an insurance company my apologies if I've offended you.

hurricane

NOT A HURRICANE

As you can see there is a pretty clear and obvious difference between this, and I could get into the physics and fluid dynamics about why they're different and would be more than happy to if someone asked about it. Namely google "Hurricanes are heat engines"

As expected with a vast majority of this storm, the slow moving system and the heavy precipitation and flooding were brutal on the region. Seriously we got wrecked. NASA did a spectacular break-down on the storm here as well.

if you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask and I'll be more than happy to answer. I hope everyone is OK and gets power back soon and hopefully you're safe and healthy from this entire ordeal

NOW onto this week. ITS GOING TO BE GORGEOUS seriously a high and a ridge are settling in north of us providing beautiful weather and tailgating leading to the syracuse game....which will be played in that dreaded dome... there should be a high around 67 and a low around 55 and a pretty clear evening. No precip, with little to no cloud cover and very little in the way of winds

UGH at least it wont be full...

For those of you in the VA region we're looking at much of the same weather. It might get a little foggy friday and saturday night with the massive temperature gradients in the blacksburg area (its going to drop to a high in the 60s and lows in the 40s to highs in the 70s lows in the 50s). Id expect some fog in the region before it turning into a pretty nice weekend! Enjoy fall while it lasts hokies!!!

Final predictions
Temp - whatever the hell they keep their dome at
Tailgating Temp - 67
Clouds - NONE
WIND - NONE WE'RE IN A DOME
PRECIP - ABSOLUTELY NONE

GO HOKIES!

Seriously, thank you for that little nugget of info

Looking like more rain but the euro has a tendency to hype things up really hard. So let's pump the breaks. I'll keep an eye on it periodically this weekend and do a writeup Sunday or Monday for you. Not looking like a hurricane tropical storm tops

Rain, you say?

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Such a fun game. Had my phone in rice for 12 hours after that.

Did you say

Rain

I missed the two chamber of commerce games I'm not having it rain for this one. So go back into your magic box and look again.

First there will be a series of Hurricanes coming to town, but they should be downgraded to tropical depressions by the end of the night, after encountering some seismic activity.

Work in insurance...not offended, we suck

We are the Hokies. We will prevail. We will prevail. We will prevail. We are Virginia Tech.

Agreed

If you're in town (Syracuse) Friday night, the low is supposed to be in the 30s. If you roll out before noon on Sat. be prepared to be chilly.

Should have thrown that in there. Good chance for fog up and down the east coast

What's the temperature going to be inside the dome?

Temp - whatever the hell they keep their dome at

Anyone know what that is? I've heard it gets hot in there.

I've seen 68 on some 'cuse sights, but assume it will be slightly colder, but not by much.

They said it gets hot when filled with fans, so unless we bring the heat...or a basketball...

gets pretty warm in there since they don't have ac. I think players were cramping during Louisville game earlier this year and it wasn't even packed.

I'll admit, I chuckled. Definitely my favorite forecast you've ever done, haha!

A tree crushing another tree? I assume that's a typo? I'm glad they are ok. Trees falling on houses is one of my biggest fears in a stormy situation.
